    I think not mentally labeling everything is a powerful key to remaining objective. It's almost like by not labeling it, there is more possibility for new experiences due to not layering a perception over the frame. Even by not mentally labeling people I meet I feel like I can connect with people at a deeper level. Label implies separateness and parts. While seeing everything as an extension and connected leads to wholeness. Great video Leo.

    Also, I find it fascinating how truth can only be experienced, not explained. It's the paradox of teaching or passing down wisdom. But true enlightenment is going beyond these illusions of separation and duality and experiencing pure being. But these teachings serve as a very useful stepping stone hat can guide ones intuition...

    self actualization is a path I've had to go alone for 22 years now. art and music have helped me along my way while I continue to live and contemplate the state of being in my own mind. I have had similar thoughts and epiphanies to the concepts you discuss, though trying to discuss these to other people never goes well for me. hearing someone else who has clearly been on a very similar journey through the enlightenment process discuss these same topics I ponder daily gives me a sort of confidence I never had before, I'm convinced that meditation leads to a greater way of living and in order to improve my life I must practice it daily, thank you!!!

    Long time viewer, first time "commentor". I have watched many of your videos; initially I'd watch them in part and come back to them later; or it would be a week, sometimes weeks in between, and then slowly the frequency became more consistent, more often. So far, so good. I'd pick up tips & tricks along with way; and must be honest with myself about how much I did, or more importantly, didn't absorb. Now to my point, no other video has resonated with me so much. Listening to what you were saying here stopped me in my tracks and literally sent a chill down my spine. I'm the girl who has spent her whole life being scared of monsters (metaphorically). And I still am. AND further, if there aren't any monsters, be sure I"ll create them. Some of the time I know I'm doing it; some of the time I don't realise until much after the impact of my actions/behaviour have been felt and I've had time to reflect (and then regret); but for some ridiculous reason I just never manage to stop it happening. But never before now have I perhaps been more motivated to change. At some point my own currency, my own self-value MUST become something I assess accurately. What I fear the most is my inability to differentiate between what IS real, instinctively, versus what I create. The outcome is I no longer trust my instincts; or ability to accurately interpret situations. Am I right? Or am I overlaying my own fears & perceptions? Who knows? Sigh. I'm going to listen to this again, for the fourth time.
    I'm 45 years old next week. On the surface I have a wonderful, fortunate life. I met someone 18 months ago who finally made me realise I've been asleep my entire life. I wish I'd treated him better; and wish I'd been capable of accepting his love; but I couldn't and I've driven him away. What I do; this entrenched behaviour and thought patterns I have, must go.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

Yes, the work is brutal and we need constant reminders to apply it. The work I have done so far has produced amazing results, my ego is weaker than it has ever been and I feel such relief after meditating on reality, meditating with 'being' cognition', abandoning my perceptions and barriers. To get to the point where we see the world free from 'ego fog' would be true freedom and true enlightenment. I'm old enough to be your Mum, but I bless you for your hard work, the results it has produced and the wonderful way you share it with people, who even at 65 are not too old to change and to find peace and joy from your words. thank you so so much, Jane

    Seeing that reality has no objects in it is one of the primary realizations needed to be able to paint and draw realistically. You have to know exactly what you're looking at first, which is and has always been a flat plane of shapes imbued with colors. We think that reality is three dimensional but this is just a projection. Our visual field is actually two dimensional. We're used to labeling reality as three dimensional because we're used to conflating our touch-based sensations with our visual field. So, the idea that reality is three dimensional is a projection and assumption that comes from the left side of the brain. It's a label and not the truth. You could also apply this same lucidity to the other sense perceptions and see that there is no distinction between the content in them. You can also do this with thought. It's very sobering.

    • @TheDiamondNet
      @TheDiamondNet 8 років тому +5

      +Actualized.org 44:51 Learning how to paint/draw realistically can help you put this type of perception into practice in a practical way. Take a contour line drawing (like from a coloring book) and turn it upside down. Then try to draw the image on a separate sheet of paper, as just a bunch of lines and shapes. With a little practice, perceiving in this way becomes second nature.

    • @TheDiamondNet
      @TheDiamondNet 8 років тому +10

      +Daramantus Look at your reality objectively and you will see that it is true. Your visual field is 100% two-dimensional. This is why it's possible to replicate images through drawing, painting, photography, and film making. No absurdity at all to my statements, complete and total sobriety actually. Read the message again, consult your eyes (without the assumptions of the mind interfering), and you will see what I'm talking about.
      Oh... but on the ultimate level, neither movement nor the universe exists. This too is an illusion... the illusion of Maya to be exact. To see this, however, will take a lot more clarity and radical openness to see than the FACT that your visual field is two dimensional. I'm still working on these insights, myself. So, patience grasshopper. ;)

This explains why people can turn from being extroverted to introverted, happy to depressed, self loving to self harming, and so on. My beliefs and your beliefs are a distortion of our current reality. Maybe that's why it's better to just listen, so that we don't exude our egocentrism to others who aren't like us.

    Leo, you express this topic so well, I made my choice to let go of my agenda, my ego a while ago and since then life has become so much simpler and clearer for myself but also that much harder in seeing how stuck most people are in their victim mentality. Like you said I also have my good days and also my bad days, where I have to work very hard at keeping my agendas at bay and my pain at not being able to wake loved ones to their own negative perception.
    I'm slowly going forward in my journey and listening to you describe exactly where I'm at helps to strengthen and empower my direction of actualisation. This video has come at the perfect time in my life, I will share this video with many in the hope they find it just as mind opening and if not now then when they are at the stage of letting go. I'm really look forward to hearing more on this topic. Thank you Leo! Your doing a lot of good man ;-)

      "I made my choice to let go of my agenda, my ego"
      That's not possible, you are the ego. Seriously don't get too brainwashed here. Listen to some Alan Watts.
      What is IMPORTANT is to REALIZE that the EGO (that is, YOU) is an ILLUSION. When a person/ego realizes that he himself is an illusion, one is able to live a more fullfilling life.
      "I made my choice to let go of my agenda, my ego" .. you see, who is the "I" that made the choice to let go of the ego? You see the problem here? Sure you have prboably chosen to let go of your previous agenda, but that choice is a new agenda.

      I see what you mean Christoffer, I have read and watched alot of Alan watts too so I know where your coming from. I guess the "agenda" I'm speaking about is one that is much more free from wants and expectations. It's a less selfish way of looking and experiencing life. It's taken away most of the drama and replaced it with acceptance and appreciation. The ego might always be a part of us but to be conscious of it is a way of not being overcome by it. At least that's how it's worked out for me ;-)

      +Daramantus so a person has 'a substance' somewhere? like a free agent inside the body? arggh cmon. You are as a person created by the electrical energy in your brain. there truly is no 'you' anywhere. self implies other - you can't exist without the external world/universe, to believe you exist independent of the rest of the world - that is the ego illusion. We are as persons programs/software driven by the universe/hardware. In other Words we truly are the whole universe - we didn't came into this universe, we came out of it. There truly is no 'you' besides the whole Universe - you're 'just' an extremly complex pattern of existence, and this pattern makes you see the World from a self-centered point of view. Like a wave is just a pattern/structure within the whole Ocean.

    Leo, GREAT shoutout to David Bohm. His ideas are SUPER examples of the logical mind connecting with the unconscious mind, not only in figuring out how the universe and consciousness works - but showing how science can step outside of its limiting perceptions to fully understand the bigger picture of the cosmos. Our misunderstandings of the universe are rooted in our rational minds attempting to categorize or skew our perceptions towards our human condition..when we should be looking at the cosmos as a whole organism of which we are a part. Bohm preached that divisions in our language creates barriers in our perception, or cause us to be blind to things. He was also a linguist and deeply understood how intertwined our language/perception was with how we perceived the universe as a singular working machine, rather than a multi-faceted, continual, whole process.

    "It's tough to convince someone who is so unconsciously absorbed in their deceptive vision of reality,

    Reality itself is a projection of our consciousness into the avatars we inhabit in order to have an experience of an individual self. It is not possible from my current perception to not process experiences and use them as a feedback loop to reflect on. By processing the experience and recognizing my biases and judgements, I can become more of who I truly am. This is a never ending process, we will never be totally clear, or we would not be having a human experience any longer. My question for you Leo, is are you expecting yourself or others to achieve a state of total non-judgement and and go through life without any thought definitions? Is there a place of peace that can be attained by accepting the perfection of non-perfection? Yet, simultaneously engaging in a continual process of expansion?

    Remarkable how this flows from psychology into enlightenment.

    For the last year I have been seeing everyone and everything from a completely different perspective. When I backslid this last month into old ways, namely codependency in a brand new relationship, it was easy to see just how freaking warped I was before. Thank goodness I was able to figure it out. Now I am back to a higher perspective. Lol. I am actually sitting in public people watching while listening to these videos. I now see the homeless man, the well dressed woman in the expensive car, the children etc without the labels. I used the labels to convey what a lot of us see when we see them. They all look so beautiful just they way they are. They all seem like individual life forces that are wonderfully, perfectly, fantastically flawed. I don't feel the need to attach values to them or value to myself compared to them. Everyday is a work in progress.

    I needed this video. I have always been "aware" of my own insecurities and therefore these neurosis or deficient cognition's have always been the root cause of my many upon many self agenda's. I have always tried to rationalize and label and perceive what things will and can mean for me. In this I know that I will never be truly satisfied or happy, because I am looking for fulfillment and happiness in everything else, rather than looking at things objectively. Rather than seeing what objects and people can give me or cause me to feel, I know that I need to look at myself and bring this happiness and fulfillment for myself from myself. Having these self agendas I have always felt would somehow protect me. Rationalizing each and every little thing and trying to "prepare" would somehow save me. When in reality the over analyzing of what each thing means or can potentially mean or what I can potentially do about it has only caused me more and more inner turmoil. It can be so difficult to detach and look at things objectively when the Ego is always nagging and poking at me in the back of my head. I would love to get to a place of inner peace, where I can just let things be as they are and not have to attach meaning to every little thing. Its exhausting. This video spoke very profoundly on a lot of perceptions and emotional triggers I have created. Thank you for this video Leo. Like you have said many times, change doesn't happen from watching your videos, but by us actually doing the work and studying ourselves. I admit I watch, I feel inspired and then I go right back to the same bullshit. I hope in the moments when I begin to rationalize and perceive that I will catch myself and turn it around. Thanks for the homework!

    This reminds me alot of the philosophy of the ancient buddhist philosopher Nāgārjuna. He speaks of the minds projection of svabhava, (or self-nature/independent nature in vague words) - and explains how it is logically impossible for an object, human, or anyone/thing else to posess this ''attribute''. In his words, ''liberation'' of samsara is to stop projecting svabhava, deconstruct your ego, and realize that it is all sunyata (literally empty, or interdependent).
    Absolutely beautiful philosophy, and absolutely beautiful video.

    • @ActualizedOrg
      @ActualizedOrg  8 років тому

      +Markus Lilleskare It's more than a philosophy. It's the nature of consciousness, which you can demonstrate in your own direct experience.

    • @RSsboy90
      @RSsboy90 8 років тому

      +Actualized.org Yeah, i know! However, aquiring the cognitive shift of perceiving the world in a manner where you don't project svabhava onto anything in the world (including yourself) was the ultimate soteriology for Nāgārjuna. It literally was the way to ''liberation'', which in his context was quite different from the classical buddhist notion of Nirvana (which however is a hugely complex and misunderstood concept, even in its original sense). He basically advocated a psychological soteriology. I'm not saying his theories and his soteriology is the exact same as that of which you speak of in this video - just that it's similar. I'm still new at genuinely trying to put this into practice myself, so i don't feel like i have sufficient emic experience to speak of it outside of the theoretical frame.
      You're probably not one to take reading tips from random people on the internet, but i would strongly recommend reading Jan Westerhoffs ''Nāgārjuna's Madhyamaka''. It was part of the curriculum when i studied World Philosophies at the university a while ago. You probably won't learn a lot of new things regarding your own personal development, but it's astounding to see how wise this man must have been, assuming his over 2000 year old cultural context.
      Great video, by the way. I take great benefit from your videos! :)

    These are the most advanced personal development videos I have ever come across. While I've come across and investigated many other channels of personal development that offered great, compartmentalized pieces of advice, the advice itself never struck me as being particularly revolutionary and counter-intuitive. In other words, I think that given enough time in solitude and thought, I would have come to those same conclusions offered by those channels and would inevitably - sooner or later - put those conclusions into practice. In contrast, this channel - with every one of it's videos - genuinely challenges my perceptions of myself and the world around me. The videos are very thought-provoking. I have to say however, that these videos are a bit too insightful for me in my life right now. I don't feel like I can pursue and practice what's being taught. The material is extremely advanced. I'm still struggling to establish a business and get some degree of financial security going on in my life - in other words, low-level necessities are my priorities right now. I feel like these videos are for people who have already reached a high degree of personal development in their own lives. I can say with sincerity that I haven't. I will continue watching the videos, but I will have to indefinitely postpone practicing the material. Thank you Leo.

    • @MatPav2

      +Charlie Crome I made a short summary of Maslow's descriptions self-actualising people here: www.actualized.org/forum/topic/3473-what-is-self-actualisation/ It seems that self-actualisation and self-transcendence are quite related. Self-actualisation appears to be a natural bridge to self-transcendence. Although self-actualising people aren't completely ego-transcended 100% of the time, they have a much higher frequency of self-transcending experiences.

If you watch yourself very closely you will find you are projecting and getting triggered constantly..it's scary just how much. But as Leo say's you have to live this not just play lip service to it. If you do live it you will definitely reap the rewards...that might entail coming back to this video again and again to get it ingrained and then actually do the work.

    As a language-learning fanatic, I had already discovered that the words we use to label things don't equate to those things. It was eye opening, and I'm glad you mentioned it in this video!
    I've found that studying different languages is a great way to open your mind to the idea that there is not one way to perceive reality.

    It's simple, but a fun way to discover different perspectives :)

      Hi Angela,the way I get my head around this is thinking of ego smog as similar to real smog.What does real smog do? it obscures what is really there, in other words... reality. There is reality and then there is the projection or story that we create around reality to tailor it to the ego's needs and that is the ego smog. Let's say we were friends and i didn't phone you for a month. The reality of the situation is I have not phoned you for thirty days. The ego smog will have you create a story that goes along the lines of...maybe he doesn't like me anymore...maybe I said something I should't have last time we met...maybe he's had a serious accident and is in hospital and on and on and on. Can you see how reality has now been obscured? Hope this helped...anything more ask Leo lol.

    I'm a little confused and hopefully someone can clear this up. A few things seem contradictory. Firstly, how can one attempt to not have an agenda when that is an agenda in itself? Is this video not advertising the incredible importance of adopting the specific self-agenda of becoming a b-cognitive thinker? Next, you say that values are a product of d-cognition yet throughout the video you make all sorts of judgements on things being good or bad, lesser or greater.. In fact, the judgement of b-cognition being better than d-cognition is a d-cognitive way of thinking! So then you think, alright well if I want to think b-cognitively then I'll simply have no opinion on the quality of either. But WHY did you make that decision? Because you still have the belief that b-cognitive thinking is better and you want it. So the reason you don't have B-cognitive thinking is the same reason you don't have it.
