- This is a prime examplle as to why you shouldd never have a cover song be your introduction to a band. Why on earth would someone want my introduction to Liliac be an Ozzy cover instead of a Liliac song? Makes no sense to me and could have kept me clear away from this song. Melody was 15 in Enter Sandman , 16 in Crazy Train and 17 in this. The Janis Joplin Cover is from the same consert as this song. Sam is 20 The Drummer Abigail is 19 Ethan on Bass is 13 And Justin on Keyboard is 11. Melody is a Huge fan of Dio and Sam's insperation is Paul Gilbert. They have a cover of Holy Diver. When Dio's son see that he shaw it to his mother. She contactet Liliac and asked them to do a Tribute cover to Dio's Cancer fond. Vinnie Appacie gave them a recorded but not played version of Last In Line It is 1½ minute longer .
Melody does do a version of the Erma Franklin' original song PIECE OF MY HEART made famous by Janice Joplins cover of it , The song is featured at the same gig as this one.along with Liliac's tribute cover of Queens WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS and WE WILL ROCK YOU, Both performances are spectacular and of course you should react to them , Liliac is known for their tribute covers some of which are better than the originals Whitestripes SEVEN NATION ARMY being a case in point , but their originals are where they shine, check out DEAR FATHER or their latest release NOT AFRAID, you won't be disappointed , I believe there was a years gap between CRAZY TRAIN and MARS but they have been playing together as a band since Melody was 13 she's now 20 and the three eldest performed together for a least 3years before that . You're 100% right about their cover of *Piece of My Heart,* she does an absolutely phenomenal job at it. Melody is absolutely a world class rock singer and would be a legend today if she'd been around in the 70s and 80s. As it stands, she probably will be a legend a couple decades from now.
I don't think today's society allows for legends. Everyone and everything that gains ANY popularity or notoriety gets shoved aside for the latest and greatest thing. Everything that is considered to be "legendary" are from the days of no social media and no internet. Now, even things that are awful get spread around like wildfire and then they just go away. That's no knock on Melody at all, that's just the way the world works these days.
Dude, she has one of the best voices ever and those covers are every bit as good as MARS is... They cut their teeth on the Santa Monica Pier and were actually asked to not perform any more as there were so many complaints about traffic

You mentioned Melody's range. May I recommend another original called "Dear Father?" I think her range in that one will impress you even more, and it's arguably one of their best originals thus far.

Good morning, Joshua. Don't misunderstand, my bad experiences were not with Liliac in any way whatsoever, it was with nasty comments from fans. You don't see any of that because i actually do read every comment and reply accordingly. If it's someone being nasty, the comment is deleted and the individual is blocked from my channel and that's that. I've got much better things to do with my time. Honesty is the only thing you will ever get here and some people simply can't wrap their mind around that.
This girl has a crazy good voice. If this original is any indicattion of things to come, she will absolutely have an extremely bright future; it's a gift and she simply has "it". The lead guitarist did quite a lot of the editing on some of the earlier videos, so I think he actually took some of the focus off himself and spread it around.

Better? That's a personal opinion Mickey. Mars is in the ERA that drew me in, and is my personal preference. To me, they are currently over the top now, both musically and showmanship. Melo's constant banshee screamo style, has completely changed their sound up. If your into nonstop screamo music, then today's Liliac is right for you. If not, stick with the music up until Queen of Hearts LP.
@@gmantw I agree, that is a personal opinion. However, their last album while much of it is kind of a scream fest if you want to call it that. Not all of it is. Sail Away for instance is not nonstop screamo music.
To me, I am not sure about that newer screamo style of Melodie's. To some degree it is ok, if it is no overdone. So at times I really like ... yet at other times, yes indeed Liliac can be a bit over the top at times. But they are young and still learning. 7 Nation Armies cover is a big of a mixed bag for me personally. I heard just Melody singing that alone, and uhm I am not a fan of it all. When combined with the music, imho it is better. But that is just me and my opinion.
I have a feeling their upcoming album is going to be a bit more mature and well rounded than their last one. Or at least from what lil gossip I have heard it appears that might be. Time will tell.

Have to say, I love their covers; but, I'm not tied to the originals as hard as some people are. The changes they've made are stylistic; but, to the wrong person.. At any rate, yeah, they
just killed this. It's hard for me to say I have a favorite of their songs.. love them all. This is one I probably listened to most often early on because it's live. They did cover Janis at this same venue - Piece of my heart. They've also covered Joan Jett's "I hate myself for loving you" with so much attitude that I like it better than the original. Don't know what your tastes are; but, you probably should check some more originals. Their latest big one out there is "Not Afraid". You'd probably dig on that pretty hard. It's a hell of a piece of work. "Sail away" is an original Ballad.. I'd put it next to a lot of classic rock and metal pieces with no reservations. I was saying months ago these kids were going to be a headline act. I could see the arc and they're on their way. They are currently in India headlining an event over there. And their third Album is on the way.

@@havoc092 disappointed what apparently you're not because you listen to the song made a comment or this one so apparently you're digging liliac and liking the music unless you're a troll and try to discourage people from listening to it because you have your favorite band I'm more likely is probably not being the warning or one of them other ones where she don't have a voice for metal or Hard Rock like a few of their songs their songs every song liliac has covered it better than what most other bands covered or could do everybody keeps saying that they are a cover band well a few people do. A cover band if you have your own ep out and album and working on the third album every band at their has covered other bands. It's how most band got started he'll look at Metallica Garage Days but to each their own have a good one. And I know this probably isn't well-written or I speak to text and I don't proofread it and I'm not an English major I want to throw some angles and degrees at me we're good to go later

This video was 1 year later than the other 2 you did. Melody was 17 in this one. Their covers are tributes to the original. Wait until you react to their Not Afraid(Extended version) video which was released earlier this year.

In my opinion their best cover is Holy Diver for sure. Any of the originals are awesome. We Are the Children is probably my fav...first one I checked out. Nothing I really like as well...but love them all when you get down to it.
I was not a big fan of the two covers I heard.
A YT channel _Psychology of Rock_ did an analysis of the band Liliac and whether they think it will survive and last or not (spoiler: believes it will). But I bring it up because it mentioned one of things about this band is they have a decent size hard core fan base called 'fangs'. Which can be a good thing. And that a lot of those are older generation (like me) that really loves Liliac. It also brought up that a lot of those hard core 'fangs' seem to be more parental type, or overly protective of the band of young kids they love. Which can have a down side. That can be good, but it can also be rather negative and off putting sadly. Personally I really like many of Liliac's covers. I think they are great. But as with all art, that is interpretative of course. To each their own kind of thing. When interpreting art, especially art of others such as covers, that can be rather controversial IF one lets it or allows it to go that far. It really should not be that way, but sadly at times it is. Such is the case here with many of the 'fangs' simply being over protective and ending up being negative. Personally if someone else does not like it, such is life and that is their own opinion in which they are entitled to it. And if someone else does like / love it, great ... so long as they are not vocally against each other. Sadly again I have even seen heated debates of 'fangs' discussing (if you can call it that) about Liliac vs fans of another up and coming band. That I find really sad. Anyway, I am glad that you did give the band another chance. And I hope you do not let those other voices get to you. I know it is easier said than done, but please just ignore them and do yourself. Be honest. People should be able to take constructive criticism, and if they can not, that is their problem. And I really see no problem in acknowledging talent while at the same time saying that is not your cup of tea or even your style you like.
Also personally I think Liliac is a young band that is evolving and trying to find themselves and their own style as they get older and in time more mature. They are going to make some mistakes and not get it right all the time. I actually enjoy watching them grow, even if at times I am not so keen on some of their attempts. I would rather see that, then some stale stagnate no growth or attempting to experience and grow their art.
Some other original songs of Liliac that I really like are: Not Afraid, Sail Away, Mars (which you just reacted to here), and Dear Father. I am really anxious to -here- hear their upcoming new album. Gossip through the grapevine sounds promising. Liliac teased us with one song I think will be called Annabelle, and that one is supposedly not even the one they expect to be their new big hit that pre-selected trial audience that have heard it is raving about.

So many reactors have never played an instrument. I know a bit about this stuff. I haven't played in a LONG time. However, I played enough for long enough to have an idea of what I'm talking about. This kid is good.

Enter Sandman and Crazy Train were appear to uploaded around 2018 give or take. So 4+ years ago at least. They may have actually been created before that but I am not sure. They are certainly talented. I think you were fair with them in all of your reactions. But I expect nothing less. 🤘

@@gmantw Yes, in Pappa Liliacs live Whiskey in a go go or something like that. He gave all the information and even said the hotel where they are staying at is locked down. He went out on the balcony and showed us the military command post who was guarding them. He said they didn't know how or what to think because they never had that in the USA.

Covers shouldn’t be the same as the original. Otherwise just listen to the original. They aren’t a juke box.
They play covers/tributes that honor the originals without copying them, they make them their own
I agree. Sometimes changing a song to make it something different is the way to go. They didn't do that at all in Enter Sandman or Crazy Train. They throw in odd vocal choices and the occasional harmonic. That doesn't change the song. That makes the existing song sound odd. Listen to The Warning's cover of Enter Sandman. THAT is how a band changes a song when covering a song to make it their own.

I really like the Guitar solo intro song John and the Middle of Mars I'm not too crazy about her vocals but I think overall the song is good I like it Liliac is for sure is a very talented band🆒🆒👍👍
We all like what we like and it's our right to do so. I think her voice is pretty incredible; you don't and that's completely alright.
