  • Hello Friends! This video is a testimonial graciously done by my sweet and beautiful patient, Jessica.
She had been experiencing a variety of symptoms - numbness, tingling, severe pain - ALL on her right side for about a year before I met & treated her. After seeing multiple specialists, Jessica was finally diagnosed with Hemicrania Continua. Her intial symptoms were triggered by a routine dental appointment (two fillings). However, we determined that her muscles had been compensating heavily for quite sometime before her dental visit - likely due to several (4!) whiplash injuries. After being referred to me, we were able to treat her headaches, jaw pain, tingling, numbness, & neck pain successfully with daytime and nighttime orthotics combined with visits with a local NUCCA chiropractor. Please watch the video for more information. Thank you, Jessica!

This channel is all about TMJ disorders - what they are, how they manifest, what to do about them and how they relate to other issues that may be going unnoticed in the body such as tongue tie, sleep apnea, ADHD, and more! I will also be posting about being a dentist and a working mommy to two wonderful children. Thank you and I hope you enjoy my videos!

This is my story to a T, I keep telling drs it’s my jaw but they won’t listen, I paid a lot of money to see a maxofacial and he did a panoramic X-ray and said jaw joint is fine. Neuro said it’s HC, I’ve tried home measures and nothing works. I’m just about to start a trial of idomethican but I’m certain it’s my jaw, pain came back after years of not having it after going to dentist and having a filling which I think was left to high, had it shaved down since but no help. I also have a mucous retention cyst in my maxillary sinus but been told they are asymptomatic, I don’t really know what to do. Jaw Botox is one option but I’m not sure if that might make things worse.

Botox can make things worse or it can help. It varies a lot from person to person.

@@theTMJdoc I had it once before over 10yrs ago and I can’t remember if it helped or not during the active time but I did not top it up at 3 months and then I remember feeling my neck feeling weak and heavy but maybe that was just the muscles becoming active again. I really believe your jaw is a connection to a lot of pain conditions, I don’t know how or why but I think it can mess your whole system up like domino’s.

@@charlottetaylor9867 yes! The jaw can be connected to other issues!

I’m 22 and I was diagnosed with HC when I was 19 I never got headaches at all before hand it was really random the only thing that was different was that I was in my first month taking the Yasmin pill which is a Contraceptive (I was told to not take it anymore) 9 months after my MRI scan I finally seen a neurologist who diagnosed me. They gave me Indomethacin which did not help at all, 3-4 months later I was prescribed with lamotrigine which I still take. I started with 50mg once in the morning, I am now on 300mg a day 1 tablet in the morning, and 2 at night, the pain still hasn’t fully went.
There’s days where it’s manageable kinda like a tingle, then others where the pain is so bad i cry from it. The pain gets so bad it affects my train of thought, I start to stutter or I’m unable to remember certain words or how to say them, I’m in a Daze and get confused, sometimes it takes me a while on how to even make a cup of tea for myself.
My recent episode started on 30th of April 2021 and was a 10 exceeding that, it was the first time I actually could not speak, no words would come out no matter how much I tried to think of the words I wanted. I couldn’t remember them properly, and when I felt like I could I could not speak them. Funny enough it was singing that helped me regain this which took quite abit off force, it’s the same with stuttering I start to sing and no stutter, the pain eases abit. That episode is still going on today almost a week later May 6th 2021, rn it’s jumping between a 2-6.
I told my neurologist this and they only gave me 5 minutes of there time maybe even under that, the phone call was very rushed. I tell her about the sudden stuttering and how I become dazed since I’ve had this pain. Her response was that it had nothing to do with my head and she assumes that I had it beforehand, even though I stated I only started getting it since this pain on the side of my head began, and it only comes when the pain starts to rise.
It’s extremely stressful which isn’t good since that sets it off, it’s very hard to understand what’s going on with you when the person you seek help from disregards you and you can nearly find information on the internet.
Things like this make me feel abit more normal knowing there’s other like me and have been able to somewhat sort it out and can carry on with there life. Hopefully I can keep on with the same will power as for me in university it’s been really hard, but I’m getting there.

The Dr put him on Firorinal for the pain but it's only temp for some relief and he's sick from this as well not being able to go to the bathroom. Sorry to hear that. I've never seen the eyelid being shut from TMJD. I don't really have any suggestions for that. Sorry!

      Hi
I have hemicrania continua with Horner Syndrome on my left side. Maybe this could be the cause of your brothers droopy eyelid as well. All the best for you

As of 3/6/23 he has recovered almost completely. His eye lid has opened with the eye now straightened and the head pain is almost completely gone with mild headache once in a while. They did a lumbar puncture which showed nothing. His neurologist diagnosed him with (Cranial Third Nerve Palsy). Said it was possibly viral. With a lot of prayers he is recovering and hoping this is the end of this horrible sickness.

You are right! I said HC in the description box and wrote TN in the tag in the title. All fixed now and I will have a TN testimonial coming out hopefully in January or February! 😊
