Yesterday I get rejected from a job offer and I felt very bad, I felt like a loser and my thoughts were of disappointment and sadness. Today I get this notification of a new video from Hope Works at Home and it is just what I needed to hear. I know that when we trust in God everything is going to be ok in the future, now I feel peace in my mind and soul. He truly has all the power and knowledge he knows what is the best for us and he knows that through failure we can learn and find progress. Thanks for this video!

I was let go from my company and struggling to find a job for about a month. Jobs that I did apply for pushed me away and I did not understand why I kept on failing even with the required experience and education to qualify for those jobs. After almost a month one job that I didn’t apply for call me and offered me a position right away. The hardest part was being patient and not giving up on what God had planned for you even though you may not see it. So I would encourage you to keep trying, have faith, and pray, because nothing else works more than speaking to God about what you want him to accomplish in your life. But be vulnerable to God when praying as you are showing that you truly need him and that you are not above him. One other lesson is to never be to proud when you achieve a certain level of comfort or wealth as he can also take it away in a split second. Always be grateful and thank him for the good and the bad. Be positive brother, he is truly amazing.

I was working for the events team at this same university the year Hollis was running for president. My teammates and I knew him well for his active participation in the student association and for being a great peer mentor at one of the events we planned (he actually was my sister's peer mentor her freshman year). We were all devestated when we heard that Hollis had lost, and even more so when we found out by how little. Despite losing, Hollis still showed up and showed out for his university. He found other ways to serve others and make a difference in the campus community. He is such a great example of how we can turn a really upsetting or negative experince into something incredible and even life-changing. Thank you, Hollis!

Lost a 3 year hard-fought, hard-earned promotion last week by three votes that would have been life changing for my family and me. In place of it, though, I feel I won three votes in Heaven for some life-changing future I don't know, because I didn't sacrifice my faith or family duties to try and beat my competition. The loss still really hurts, but there is a deeper peace now because of it.

Thank you for sharing! As many others have felt peace I did too. I needed it today. I am trying so hard do what God wants me to do without causing my mom to have negative impression on Jesus Christ and the church. As I still hear her negative comments with her attitude everytime it hurts and feel like I failed. But like you said , there's so much to learn from there. By relying on God every time it helps me to open my heart to understand my mom more and do things more like the Savior would. Turning to God every time certainly brings comfort, and enough light to help us see the benefit of a trial and to know what is the next step we can take.

This is what I call a Face-Plant Moment. I'm in the arena, fighting for my life, and I Face-Plant. Ugh. My Face-Plants have been the most painful, growth-inducing, and humbling experiences. Sometimes I just lay there, with my face in the dirt, bloody and bruised, exhausted, humiliated, with dirt in my mouth, and I have to fight those feelings of failure and unworthiness. But, God's tender love and mercy blankets me, and I can get back up. It's thru remembering who I really am, a daughter of God, that helps me get back up.

As we go through times like these and it seems like we're failing, we'll learn in time that this was merely a preparation state and what we wanted was not actually meant for us. This is Heavenly Father preparing us for something greater. If we got what we wanted we wouldn't be blessed with what was truly ours. Those blessings to come are so much greater if we just wait to see the next phase unfold.

I'm married to a priesthood holder, I have four kid's, and we have never marital issues,we have been faithful to our covenants , but two of my kid's have left the righteous path,it has been so stressful, that it has affected my health! I came from a family that had it's share of issues, as I got older I have held tightly to the gospel, trying to do everything right, but I had church leaders be bad examples to my kid's, them never knowing there name's or taking the time to care for them. Church friends leading them astray, as I have tried to do things right, people around me have failed my kid's and all those in that age group have left the church! Life is harder than I could of ever imagined! 🙏🏻🥰God help us all!

@@sadeedwards3017 My departed family and friends are doing their best. There is a very ugly history of narcissistic abuse in my family, that stretch back a few generations. It is hidden and not really discussed, but there are some dark tales of great-grandma Mary Stark Pratt (oh yes, Rey's wife). My maternal grandfather and my paternal grandparents are sad sometimes because of this problem. Again, they and others help me as much as they are able, despite death being a thing (yes, they are dead).

grateful for his testimony in God. I love love love how he emphasizes the importance of turning to God in our failures. For it will help us understand them and make sense of why they happen even when things are going so well. If there's anything I'm afraid of is failing. So I wouldn't try anything new or risk changing because I didn't want to fail. But just like he said True Failure is not trying at all. With that being said he helped me look at failure differently than I usually would. I'm grateful (I may not like it very much I might even hate it) but I'm grateful for the many times I've failed in Life. Because just like he said failures lead us to the one who can give us strength. And I know that my failures and ofc my chose to go to God during those times has molded me into a stronger person now more than I could ever imagine. May you reader remember to turn to God in your failures, for when you do you'll always be successful.

YES! I've learned (after MANY failures) that God wants me to: 1) Learn how to be more gracious when I'm not #1. 2) Learn how to comfort those who suffer loss. 3) Be more humble. 4) Turn to Him. 5) Learn to extend my ability to keep trying. 6) Find different approaches. 7) Be more patient with self and others......
I'm SURE there's more to the list, but I guess it SHOWS me the answer to my old question: Why couldn't I just GET all this when I was younger???

One might consider this experience in what has been gained. For example, reaching out to people in order to gain votes in reality may have gained friendships that will last much longer than any term of office might have lasted. The end results of the experience may be less relevant than all that is gained getting there. God knows the end from the beginning and delights in those experiences we gain in trying to reach whatever goal we seek.

This is also an example of the consequences of placing things of the world - in this case, winning an election - above heavenly things - focusing one's life on a worldly aspiration. All that effort could have been devoted to a heavenly goal. Thus failure is also related to choosing world's goals above heavenly goals. We are all similarly challenged to choose properly.

Well if this is a large enough trial for this young man, I feel for him. However, compared to so many other issues that can beset an individual, this is nothing! My word! I'm sorry but this is so minuscule compared to so many trials one can go through in mortality. I can only presume this is made for young people that haven't really gone through extreme sorrow and difficulty. How about a Stake President in the Philippines that lost his home and entire family because of a tragic fire - now that is an excruciating trial that is almost unbearable. I'm sorry, but I've seen pain and the tragic circumstances people have to go through due to the reality of life itself - this is nothing!

Life is a journey. This time God might use you to serve the other one for mutual growing purpose toward eternal life.

    14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
