  • In this video I am sharing an easy way to make front trouser watch pocket. In this tutorial I don’t use any don’t use any fusible interlinings.
This is one of several methods of course: you can make them with flap or with the additional facing.

Hey 👋🏻 I am happy my videos are helpful, I put a lot of effort into them. And the next video is gonna be on shirtmaking.😉
The bespoke waistband is a big topic to cover: how to assemble it without fusible interfacing, shaping, attaching and lots of handwork creating a 'curtain' cover on the inside. It took several videos to cover this topic from A-Z in my full online trousermaking course. If you are interested, just e-mail me or send me a message to my Instagram and you are gonna learn everything there.

cool tutorial! Though I am curious, is the reason for sewing in the facing (aprox. Minute 7) to reinforce the pocket? Because if it was just for looks, wouldn't it be more efficient to just use the fabric of the trousers for the entire pocket?

      Thank you!
You are totally right, the facing on minute 7 reinforces nothing, it just prevents the pocketing form getting visible.
There are quite a few ways of making these kind of pockets, I forgot to mention that. :)))
Yes, you could use the trouser cloth for the whole pocket, and it can work with a rather thin cloth, such as 210-250 grams per meter. If you are working with havier fabrics 280-300 grams per meter it may end up a bit bulky.
As you can see, my facing is cut in such a way that it does not get inside the side seams of pocketing keeping them thin.
So, if you are using trouser cloth for the whole pocket, you have to change the method of finishing the pocket without making it too thick. For example, instead of double seam I am showing, you can cover the edges with a silk bias binding (no overlocking is allowed).
There is another bullet-proof way: use only the pocketing, without any facings and just cover the pocket opening with a flap. ;)

@@BESPOKEEDUCATOR wow! Thank you so much for your throurough answer! Makes so much sense, I'll definitely keep the thing about the thickness of the fabric in mind! I've always found covering the seams of pockets with bias tape a very elegant way so I'll definitely be trying that. Thanks again!
