I just realized Ray adapts his accent to his audience. There was definite Aussie tones going on but when he's interviewed by an American newscaster he sounds like he's from Toronto.
Hi Ray. Please can learn the ricochet technique (the flying spiccato trick across all four strings) next? Like in the cadenza of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto or like in Paganini Caprice No.1. ...I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DO IT ALL MY LIFE (a long time!) and still can't do it!!!
Hey Ray! Great video! I have a pretty special idea of video... You can pic some random etude and teach us in video about it. What does this etude practices, how to achieve this technique and more. I think it can be really Interesting! Good job and continue doing good videos!
Hi! I'm an up and coming violinist and I'm the only freshman to make it into the group above varsity in my school in the last 5 years, my director wants me to tryout for the Texas All-State solo and ensemble thing. The pieces are Rode 24 Caprices (No. 5) and Don't 24 Studies for the Violin Op. 37! I would like you to give tips on slurred double stops with vibrato if possible (since it's the main part of the Don't 24 Studies for the Violin) I have experience in higher positions and can play up to 8th without tapes, I've played the Handel Sonata 3 in Fa minor in its entirety and I'm currently working on Partita 2 (I'm on the Sarabande at the moment and my private lesson teacher wishes me to do the Chaconne by Junior year) I've been watching your videos for a while and if you could do this it'd mean a lot to me! Thanks!
