    LG's got that 98" OLED..... Comparable in cost to your JVC and Seymore setup.
    I would also give a giant miniLED a fair shake... I know that no one who has had or does have an OLED (I have a 2017 OLED) will admit that miniLED can compete but when using real world content, a high-end calibrated miniLED will give you the same experience contrast-wise at the MLP. We know miniLED is brighter and we also know that the color luminance and gamut are better on miniLEDs than they are on current OLEDs. This is simply because the tvs are able to show brighter shades of color that current OLEDs cannot. But when viewing real world content, back at your MLP, a high-end miniLED will give you the exact same experience of excellent contrast as an OLED can. I've seen it myself.
    Can you see blooming on a high-end, correctly calibrated miniLED when viewing real-world content? Only when you're very close to the tv at about a foot away and ONLY with extremely specific content. i.e. when you're engrossed in a movie, you have your audio kickin' tail, and the story's excellent.... you'll never see an issue with a high-end miniLED. You'll be too busy being engrossed in an excellent and very accurate experience. On a properly calibrated OLED, will you notice that the tv doesn't get as bright as it should with some scenes? It does in my experience. IMO, this is more distracting than possibly seeing the faintest/quickest glimpse of blooming. The Sony Bravia 9 at 85" obviously isn't the 97" you want but when sitting 8.4' away, the 85" will give you a deeply immersive experience. That's the THX ideal viewing distance for an 85" screen. That can be pushed back all the way to 12' and still be within THX parameters so you have about 3.5ft of wiggle room to make sure you MLP is out of a null in your room. If you want to that is... haha! THX isn't the end-all be-all.

      @MyFatherLoves Thank you for dropping that delicious knowledge my guy. Not sure what real world content is, but in the black hole that is my room. on a K-scape, especially with these fancy cables I recently picked up, the image is even better, absolutely delicious. Infinite contrast all the way for me. 16:9 content is at times too large; I am beyond happy. That being said enjoy your system.

    Sub performance is way past the speaker performance, why not get speakers with good dynamic range to keep up? Not to mention most of the subs are support subs. Then on top of this your using dirac ART which is terrible under 20hz, they have yet to work this out or fix it. So your barley utilising the subs. You have enough subs to do waveforming from trinnov which would make more sense and you will get much better infrasonics.

    If you double stack any like for like subs like you have done, then it's a plus 3 dB gain not 6 db 🤔 the Subs design themselves ( M&K / Perlisten) gives it a natural 6 db gain over a standard 2 driver designs. So one Perlisten twin 15" subwoofer is equal to 4 like for like 15" subwoofers ( 6 db gain) if you double the amount of any subwoofer, then it's another 3 db.

      3db for the power 3db for the cone area and efficiency

    • @Echo-jg8is
      @Echo-jg8is 6 місяців тому

      @@BigStreetCinema It doesn't work like that, if you had 10 15" subwoofers in your cinema for example, then you would need to add another 10 Identical subwoofers so that's 20 in total, just to add 3db, 40 subwoofers would be needed to get a 6db gain and 80 subs for 9db and so on, irrespective of how much output the sub has or how efficient it.

    Im wondering why the Perlisten subs as the main subs and the JTR's and Harbottle as the supporting subs? I would imagine that the RS2's should be able to exceed the Perlistens in terms of overall output, ulf output and playing clean at levels that the Perlistens can't match.

    I’ve got similar subs in my room. Two 24’s, and two dual sealed 18’s. I put a lot of focus on isolation for these installs and made a nice difference. So if you’re going to look into decoupling I would go further than just spikes. I used the SVS feet on the 24’s and I did a DIY platform for the 18’s using firm open cell foam glued to a piece of carpet wrapped MDF. Both seem to work great and have helped to tame rattles in the room which can add to a perceived cleaner sound.
    Also, the Dirac ART things boggles my mind a bit. I can’t imagine using subs of that caliber just for the purpose of cancellations. I am curious to hear how it sounds. ART may get added to my processor at some point so if that happens I would definitely play around with it and see how the different configurations sound. Anyway, love your system. I feel like mine is the “budget” version of yours. Arendal instead of Perlisten. Monolith instead of Storm. DIY instead of JTR and Harbottle. I’d love to step it up at some point in time.

    Wow. Someone who went from projector to TV. I'm surprised you didnt go with a 100" Hisense U8K or 98" TCL QM8. With the K-scape, you can litterally watch just about anything you want in high bit-rate 4k, so you'll never have to mess with the biggest weakness of the Hisense and TCL models (low bitrate and SD upscaling)
    With a 98" Sony X95L, you could get the best of both worlds.

The only thing better would be a bigger OLED. I also love the fact that I can watch during the day and with the lights on. My room is multipurpose.
    My only suggestion would be to experiment with your configuration. I would wager there is more performance to be had with the D215’s placed nearfield in the supporting role, then move the RS2’s up front as your main subs. Give it a try.

    Hey Hatoraid,
    Great home theater tour👍.
    Maybe Doyle should also consider the TCL X955 with 5000 nits and over 5000 zones as an alternative if Sony doesn’t release a 90 inch mini led.

    This is such a cool room. I love the astehtic and you can't beat that gear. I'm an Oled guy also and have similar thoughts to Doyle's on projector vs tv. Hopefully a more reasonable 97" that suits his needs comes along in the next few years. You'll have to do tour#3 when that happens.

    The RS2 have updated drivers? When did they update them? I have 2xRS2 and 2xRS1 currently and the RS2 I ordered Jan 2023 and shipped to me April 2023. Were the drivers updated since then?

      You have the latest drivers. I believe the current iteration released in either 2020 or 2021.

      The RS2s and RS1s already have the updated drivers with glossy fiberglass dustcaps. Hence the R (reference) name.

    What's the difference in quality/ability/quantity of infrasonics between the Perlisten/JTR/Harbottle. Doyle's got 3 end game subwoofers and they differences really need to be explored!

    • @brucecarter6205
      @brucecarter6205 6 місяців тому +2

      I agree. I would definitely swap the RS2 and D215s to get the Perlisten subs nearfield. Those 3 monster subs in the back are being way under-utilized in that configuration. The less capable D215s’s will always hold this system back to a certain degree imo. Worth a try at the very least, unless aesthetics overrule in this case. Performance is always top priority in my room.

    Sick updates! Wondering if we can ask Darrell to comment a little bit more about using KScape with an OLED? There aren’t many people that are doing that, curious his thoughts? And what did you think? Was the aspect ratio changes nicer looking in an OLED or was it distracting? Thanks!

    One thing folks are missing is that Doyle enjoys the sound of the Perlisten subs and wants them to be the dominant subs. There is no right or wrong here, it’s about preference. He could swap out the JTRs with the Perlisten but thats not what he wants. End of the day, it’s all about preference. I am been in his theater a few times now and actually had suggested getting the RS2s to get help on the low end. It sounds great in there.

      Do the testing first is all I will say. I’m thinking there is a very good chance that his preference may change after unleashing those JTR’s. You kind of need to know what each brings to the table to allow you to achieve the best result. I went through the exact same exercise recently when I added a PSA sub to go along with my two JTR’s. I tested the PSA in my room by itself for a solid week to get a good handle on its stand alone performance. This made it so much easier to integrate and get the most out of it, and the JTR’s combined. Do what you want at the end of the day, but without doing the testing you are flying blind. Don’t take this as criticism, because there is no denying that all of the subs in your HT are top shelf. Just trying to help you get the most out of them.🤷‍♂️
