Thought i was going to check out a cool screen, instead got one of the best home theater reviews ive ever seen, thanks to this guys incredible history. Home theater reviewers tip: review more old peoples theaters.
This is the jackpot video of the home theater community and the knowledge that Vern has is really bone shaking. Thanks for sharing this 81 year old young man with us.
Woooow what a treat to see someone who has had a passion for home cinema but isn't rapped up in the latest and greatest. Loved the pictures from past setups too. Makes me wanna watch more movies!!!
I had transducers in my car seats almost 30 years ago. I held onto them and when I built my theater 5 years ago I put them in my theater seats. Still worked great.
Well the theater is in limbo due to a divorce but when it was up and running it was, Front stage 3 jbl studio 580’s Surrounds 4 jbl studio 570’s 2 in ceiling atmos 2 stereo integrity 18’s Denon 4400h Emotiva basx 7 Panasonic ub 420/Apple tv 4k Benq 2050 on 120” 16:9 I miss it so much.
Vern is OG. Love seeing someone actually older than me. Question do you know what size room he has and what is the throw on his projector. Thanks for the video
re-watch the video. Early on he said something like 52" high by 144" wide 276:1 curved screen. I can't remember the brand of lens but said it cylinder vs prism based and Panamorph is prism based and only recently started offering cylinder based. I want to say he had the JVC NZ8 projector. I might of mis-heard and is the NX8. room size he said 12'x13". looking at how the lens is set back into the wall I would guess 13' to max 14' throw. All of it talked about at point or another in the video.
Some like flashy or oldskool gear and he is happy with back 2 basic, This man is the don daddy of homecinema. Some coming and hanging because money or sort interest but this older man is almost born in the cinema situation!
Thanks for the great interview with Vern. One question, how does Vern deal with other aspect rations on his ultra widescreen? Does he have an aspect masking system of some kind? Maybe I missed it.
I was left wondering how he made that screen, and curved it. Could you show the movie perspective of his seats and the image from them? Didnt feel like i saw the entire room.

The famous Vern from AVS. Great space.
What a legend! Really liked the talk around MadVR.
We’ll be discussing it more this evening on a livestream!
This was immensely entertaining and informative loved the conversation
Thank you so much!
The Creator might be the only movie ive ever seen in that aspect ratio. Interesting

This is the most interesting home theater tour I've ever seen. Very very cool!
Thank you!
Excellent vid. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you and you’re welcome!
Really enjoyed this review was like a history lesson. I can't see many of today’s 10 year olds threading cinema projectors.
Thank you!
Excellent video, nice fella. I do hope he enjoyed The Creator. (I did, but felt my 2.35:1 screen didn't do it justice..!)
Thank you!

What is the glass used in front of the projector?
great interview well done!
Thank you!
Crazy knowledge of h ..theatre this man has ...and the balls to diy his set up surpassing hundreds of thousand dollar set ups ....
Thanks for coming up to Dallas man, feel free to roll up to mine next time around even if it is just to hang out.
Thanks Eric! Appreciate the offer
Fascinating video.
Thank you!

I dont think you can mask on a curved screen like that. I think he just watches it as is. He may do some manipulation with his MadVR pc
Cinerama was great and I wish it came back.
"Merry Christmas 🎄peacefully peaceful New year ..🤗
" this one of the best screen and theatre's
I've seen😇
d🤕🇪🇺🎄
Thank you!
Watching The Creator on this must be cool
That would be awesome!
Bro looks damn for his age. He has seen or heard of cinema in all its transitions
Yup!
What are your thoughts on Vern’s Cinerama Home Theater?
I was left wondering how he made that screen, and curved it.
Could you show the movie perspective of his seats and the image from them? Didnt feel like i saw the entire room.
We can probably show some images during the future livestream
Hit the like button for the OG!
Nice, but this definetly calls for a five screen speaker setup.
What do you mean?
Left - Leftcenter - Center - Rightcenter - Right
@mikaelchristensen5433 He dont have a receiver that supports that lol
