What’s the size of the room? I heard 3200 cubic feet but what’s the length breath and height? I have the D215s and am getting the S7t’s in preparation for my home theatre and listening room that is in the works.

Now that I watched this. I feel like this home owner is my brother from another mother cause he got the design exactly as I had in my mind including the radiant heating and star ceiling lol. It’s actually amusing to see that what I was thinking about for my room. Small differences but the big ones are totally the same.

But I love seeing the way people plan an execute the building of the of the room to put all that gorgeous gear in. You really do seem to be focusing on that in this series. It’s a good take that I haven’t seen from many other channels. Great video. Can’t wait for the next one

Thank you Jain. You are correct, I’m beginning to focus more on the story and the journey while but not neglecting the gear. By allowing the homeowners to share their journey, decision making process, challenges and even failures, it provides more value to my audience.

What a great video. Lots of great ideas came out of this. Love the two-step 16 inch riser, giving absolute clearance for the back row. Love the concealed wall lights, giving the wall a clean look. The sound dampening panels are so well integrated. They look like the wall itself with those clean lines. Great job.
Oh... and being a retired electrician, I can certainly vouch for and appreciate running an inner-duct or conduit system for all cables and wires. That’s one of the smartest things you can do for yourself at the beginning stages of the build.

I am really enjoying the tour of Home Theaters and the amount of time and thought that goes into the design of the room and the sound. I was pleased to hear that the home owner decided to focus on the speakers first and then build the system around the speakers, I was once into sales of audio and I was in electronic school at the time and I learned that if you start with the speakers you will end up with a great sounding system that fits your taste. Great interview and a lot of great information, especially the room building. Thanks Michael

What a lovely sized room to play with.
For 2 channel listening, starting with the speaker choice seems like a fair method. For home theater, our space limitations often drive what we can use. Some will need slim speakers, or even in-walls, and of course there's the number of speakers to choose, so I'd suggest starting with the space and the layout.

New company Perlisten releasing some high end goodies with THX Dominus certification to boot. The owner definitely has good taste and hearing. This is a top tier end game system for sure, and those speakers look gorgeous. I would probably do an Auro 3D setup with the S4 surrounds and upmix Dolby Atmos with Auro 3D upmixer.

How much do you spend on your automobile???? That’s the way you should look at the cost of your home theatre. Bet you spend more time in front of your TV than you do in your car. Not to mention buying the right equipment would me many more years of pleasure than your car… example I have Revel Ultima Gems and Voice. The cost was about $15,000 back in 2006. I have never replaced them or had any repairs. Durin the same 16 plus years I have had two new cars and the second one is worn out!!!!

    • @brianhorrorfan
      @brianhorrorfan 2 роки тому +4

@@Goodboy0953you're joking right? Because at no point did i slam the guy for spending that much i just pointed out that 75% of the home theater community will never be able to afford that kind of setup and it would be incredible to actuall be able to. And your point makes zero sense comparing an item you need to a item you do not. You need a car, you want a home theater, you spend 1/3 of your life in bed...did you spend 45k on that? Don't be a clown

If you’re into the control outside the room you can do what I did. I bought a refurbished iPad Air 2 for like $120 of eBay , and mounted outside my room with a monoprice ipad kiosk mount. Then I run the harmony app with the iPad in guided access mode. So before I enter the room I just tap the activity I need and by the time I sit down everything is already fired up. It’s a pretty slick and inexpensive addition to the theater that will get a ton of use. Looks quite cool also.

I know exactly what he’s talking about with those Klipsch in ceiling speakers. I moved from a Klipsch RP System to an Arendal System which I assume is a similar sound signature to the Perlistens. I hadn’t changed out my Klipsch in ceilings at first though, and every time there was distinct sound from them or a pan to them I could hear the difference. Sounded overly bright and just kinda bad to be honest. Previously with the all Klipsch system they sounded perfectly fine though and blended well. So, definitely know what he was talking about when he brought that up.

Hi Ronster. Yes most projectors utilize a bulb with lamps having a typical lifespan of 3,000 hours. The bulb continues to lose light output over time.
Many are beginning to offer Laser Light Sources which have 20,000 hours lifespan but you don’t replace them, you buy a new projector.

I cant help but wonder how compact the front staging is. It appears that the LCR spks are within 6 to 8 ft. range. In configurations ive worked with in the past, haviing that front stage expanded especially with such a huge tower spkr helped with filling larger rooms. The difference is you are not trying to cover seating for 200 people. You can’t do that as well with overhead speakers. Overall it sounds great but even with a dedicated build, there are limitations to what he was able to do. As mentioned in the video, there are a few things we shared with the homeowner that he can do to improve the sound. The sound stage could be improved if he were able to have the left and right speakers spread out a bit more. Ideally you would want the front LCR further apart but he did not have the ability due to the design of the front wall of the basement (it's narrow and angled). My room as well could benefit from killing all reflections behind my screen (something I'm working towards). Also mentioned in the video, we recommended him to add acoustic treatment behind the screen to prevent reflections from there from entering the room. I personally would have installed the surrounds on the walls but the owner chose to place them in the walls for a stealth and clean appeal. The subs in his theater are absolutely phenomenal, especially when sitting in the rear row due to the additional tactile response you get from the wooden platform. Hearing Perlisten in two different locations and spending several hours listening to music and movies in different rooms, they are some of the best speakers I have heard to date.

I love all the automated designs today but I’m losing hope for these things due to (of all things) failure of remote controls. I live in a home with mostly bare floors and no smoking but lately I’ve had three remote controls just stop working on certain buttons. Including the latest …my Roku remote. Yes I’ve changed batteries and keep them in a covered drawer when not in use. No they have never been subjected to liquid of any kind. Most frustrating is it’s not all the buttons that don’t work, just some. If they can’t design a remote control that lasts the life of the product it controls then it’s simply not worth buying these top of the line products. After all the remote control is like the nervous system and without it, instructions never get to the thing you want to control.

Erod There's always some compromises for anyone regardless of how much the budget is. It's a big 140 inch projector screen in front, so the front left & right speakers in person behind the screen probably don't look as close together as it does on video.
I would personally though toe in angle the front left & right speakers pointing at the main seating positions. Like Dolby, DTS, THX all recommend for the left & right speakers for movies.
I hate rows of 4 as you don't get a perfect centre sweetspot seat like the middle seat in rows of 3 seats. But the owner obviously needed the extra seats for guests. Aesthetically is a lovely looking home cinema and those Perlisten speakers are end game!

Due to the limitations of the front wall, the side walls of the platform has to be angled so the rear is less wide than the front making it difficult to toe them in.

Love the gear. For the money the room decor is boring.

4:57 Why does the CEO have this resting you know what face? Like bro lighten up a bit, smile once in a while? I look at him and just get this bad vibe and want to run away from him and his gear.

Has nothing to do with lightening up. I smile a lot, but I realize that not everyone does. Especially when you place them in front of a camera. If you do decide to run, I would be curious to know what you find better than Perlisten. Be blessed

@@Youthman Bro if you're (the ceo) representing a company you can't present yourself with a face like that. You gotta learn to smile a bit and be presentable. As for other options... tons to choose from and I am skeptical Perlisten is better than all the vets out there (but maybe im wrong).. Wilson, focal, magico, ATC, Nola, Raidho, borrenson, T+A, Goebel, Stenheim... the list goes on and on. 2 channel world is swamped.

I guess I just find it odd that you want to run from a company because the CEO is t all smiles in a video. I’m not one to tell someone how they should run their own company or present themselves.

@@Youthman Well I respect your view point. When I deal with dealers or ceos and I have met my fair share of them I get good vibes from friendly, personable people that smile. The whole deadpan thing does nothing for me and makes me not want to deal with the person. I met the ceo of Rockport and the guy was super nice and smiled and was 'normal' when I engaged with him. He even remembered my name when I saw him again months later. I am not saying people need to be super cheerful and overly positive / fake. But ya... just a face that barely moves and stares me down... no.
Anyway thats me, you do you.

Nothing wrong with that thought process. But in the same manner I have met plenty of people in my lifetime that were all smiles, but ended up being sketchy, immoral and unethical.
