Damn I miss Rik. Gutted I never got to see him live. Absolute legend not just in comedy but as an actor / entertainer and human being. Taken way too soon. Bottom with him and Eddie as OAPs would have been amazing

As an American, I'm obviously late to the party, but I'm trying to catch up quickly. I watch all five of the Bottom Live 2-3 times a year, and Rik was fabulous in "Man Down". I feel for you, mate...
Nobody will ever reach the standards set by Rik and Ade. Hilarious doesn't even come close, the chemistry they shared is astonishing. They tap into the childish humour in us all and go at it with such gusto. Honestly this should be studied by everybody who wants to become a professional actor, a lesson in how to completely commit to what you're doing.

@@Gambit771 I liked Rik and Ade's act in its day. Now it seems less amusing. Comedy moves on. Ade's autobiography is interesting but reveals he was never all that keen on his comedy work and knew Rik was the star.

Ade being set on fire actually went wrong! He forgot the safe word they agreed on before filming, so everyone thought his shouting "put me out you bastards" was just acting. Talk about commitment though.

Lord flashheart was so badly out of place in Adder and played about as well as drop dead fred in my opinion. The rest is all good though.

1st time ever seeing this, living in the US we only got the Young Ones in re-runs and I only discovered Bottom a couple of years ago, so it’s nice seeing what came in between. So many discreet edits and cuts in this DVD release, stick to the earlier VHS release if you can, the babysitting episode shown here is heavily edited, why on earth did they make so many edits in the DVD release?!
Examples please? I have the VHS copy, wondering if it's worth the trouble to dup that instead of using DVD sources.
@@ThorC1138 Too many to list as busy with other stuff, check the babysitting ep for an example, both dvd and vhs versions can be seen on youtube, very discreet cuts but annoying when you see them missing.
