@God Love ha ha! well, some I got closer, others ...well. I enjoy practicing anyway and faster is not necessarily better - at least this is what I tell myself....
@God Love you have pretty good chances! I started playing when I was 50+ .... learning curve is slow, but I enjoy tremendously playing.... keep practicing!
@God Love We are following the same path?! JBG was one of the first songs I (tried to) learn, I quickly discovered it is much more difficult than I thought. May I suggest an excellent lesson by Adrian (Anyone Can Learn Guitar). it is the original by C. Berry though
I've watched 100's of guitar lesson and song videos. So many great ones out there but these are amazing. Simple, straightforward, well paced and immediately useful. Thanks!
Pretty nice lesson dude... No 12 minute intro speaking about your first played note, no explaining about what part of the guitar is the neck and you didn't just sweep pick trough the whole neck with 400bpm and say it's just that easy. Thanks man.
Im new to your channel but was blown away by your easy to understand and killer licks to broaden our vocabulary really love the lil blues slides to the pent scale esp in lick 4 very awesome for us who have a small grip on pent scale but need some new roads to rravel thank you , new follower
Hey there! You can get the free tab to this lesson using the link under the video. It also contains tab for a few of my other rock lessons (older videos). If you want more of a method book with videos then check out my Rock Lick Method for Guitar book! Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍😀🎸
Hi martin. Hmm... strange I just checked it and looks ok. Try here agin: jamesshipwayguitar.com/fast-pentatonic-licks-opt-in Any probs just shout. Cheers! James
Great licks James but as a geriatric desperately trying to be a better guitarist, I can only play them at half that speed! How do I get up to that speed, that's the question?
Hi Gordon...thanks for watching! You need my new speed building mini course (coming soon) ;-) In the meantime check this out...my first video. A little long winded ...but the techniques I show you will definitely help so just ignore my rambling at the start! Good luck and I'll post the linl below! jamesshipwayguitar.com/play-faster-how-to-speed-guitar-playing
HI James, thank you so much for your reply (I didn't expect one). I have indeed checked out the video you suggested and it's very usefull. I shall keep at it. Thanks again for your suggestion and thanks for ALL your great videos.
Question, how do u get an edgy lead tone like u have or just in general? Rhythm sounds are easy enough to do, but my leads tones always have a lot of noise is the background, do I need to clean boost it and turn down the gain? Eq it? Been fighting to get a good lead tone for 16 years
Don't use too much gain. Also, the buzzing might be caused by noisy pickups. Maybe cheap amp? Try Bias FX if you own a audio interface. It's like a software with virtual amps and there is a noise cancel option :) Hope this helps.
Hey there! I can try and help. My setup is actually very simple for these videos, I pretty much go straight into the amp with no pedals or anything. What are you playing through at the moment?
I have a boss gt-1 and well my amp is just a little belt clip on amp (den electro), on a side note I do have a decent sized fender amp at a family members house, i'll ask if I can pick it up in a week or so cause I will have to go over there to mow anyways, not sure of the specs since its not here with me, but it is somewhat older, not that it matters, i'll let u know and I appreciate the replies
Hi there! This is one of my own tracks, and haven't got it o UA-cam. But find any backing track in D minor around 100 beats per minute and it'll work fine. Have fun! James
Practicing these licks is all well and good but knowing how to incorporate them into a solo in a musical way? Therein lies a challenge. That is the difference between a good guitarist playing in a pub but just playing stock licks tacked together and a guitar legend coming out with a classic memorable solo. Something I have never seen taught.
Fell asleep through the second one. These are not rock licks. These are poser licks. Give us the real thing. For an example a Jimmy Page special, was his birthday last week. if not i´ll spam you. Joking ! Great work.
Jeez. Stop using the word awesome. Leave that to the yanks. Next thing you'll be wearing a silly hat the wrong way round. Very few things are awesome in this world. Messi is awesome, Einstein was awesome, Niagra Falls is awesome most other things are good or pretty good.

These are very cool licks; thanks for sharing!
excellent - thank you James. For lick2 I need to see the surgeon as my little finger is too stiff, though.
Yes...or just practice hammering between your 3rd and 4th finger. Works and much cheaper than a surgeon! ;-)
I’m having trouble with these, any tips?
Good stuff mate!
Hot licks cool tricks sweet video
Can u do maybe videos about guitar rock licks on Cminor please
Are used hybrid picking to do that 1st lick and it makes it lightning fast
Is there a backingtrack on UA-cam as well?
Thanks, good one! Really like your style James. Great, straight and unpatronising delivery :-)
Thanks for watching Chris, glad you liked the video. Cheers! James
Do U have any advance licks. This is all beginner
Sorry, I forgot with a battered up Strat!!!
Thank you finally some solo I can actually play😂
Cool !!!
Thanks for watching. Hope it's useful! James
Great licks man! I like those big round frets. The ones on my Tele are thin square edged stock frets. I think they are worn out.
Sure Blade...I like 'em too! Nice chunky neck on this guitar too! Thanks for watching, James
@@JamesShipwayGuitar Did you have it refreted or did it come that way?
It was a replacement neck for that guitar. It came like that. Think it was from Allspares or somewhere. Cheers!
fender sucks. go buy a broom.

Do you have a PDF to download the tabs?
Yep! The link is underneath the video. Have fun and thanks for watching! james

Can u tell how'd u learn this licks?
Hi! I guess from listening to rock players, learning licks and solos by others and just experimenting. Hope that helps! James
Who's here watching this? Without electric guitar just own acoustic
Awesome!
Me (ಥ﹏ಥ)
I have both but the electric one was gifted

James Shipway Guitar thank you for that quick answer. It’s working now, thank you. Yesterday I tried twice and got error 404 both times.
Can I apply thie on a A Minor pentatonic scale?
Sure! Move them down into shape 1 A minor pentatonic at the 5th fret. Good luck!
@@JamesShipwayGuitar Thank u! New susbcriber!
