- Using my Canon R7 and RF 100-500 telephoto lens, I have my best day yet in our homemade blind. I was able to bag 29 keeper photos of 14 different species! I used Fv mode with manual shutter speed, aperture, and auto-ISO. I dialed the exposure in on the fly with exposure compensation. I was able to photograph American Goldfinch, House Finch, Downy Woodpecker, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, Northern Cardinal, Eastern Bluebird, Mourning Dove, Carolina Wren, White-breasted Nuthatch, Eastern Towhee, Northern Mockingbird, Chipping Sparrow, and Brown Thrasher!

Great shots! The blind is proving to be a huge success!!!!
Thank you, Stephen! This was the best day so far!
great time spend in the hide, enjoyed it as if i was there, thanks a million for the super shots.
Thank you! It’s always fun to have a really good Bird Photography day while still wearing your pajama pants! Lol
Awesome birding session!
Thank you, Mark!
Great shots Phil !
Thank you, Roger!
Great shots Phil. $9500 for a lens, just take it out of petty cash 😂 That lens does look amazing but yeah not too many can afford it. It certainly would be perfect in your hide there at those focal lengths. Thanks for sharing the video 👍🙏
Thank you, Adrian!
Great video, Phil. With your work in the backyard, and Ron's work in his backyard, I'm beginning to think I really need to utilize my own back yard. But, whatever I would do to put in a blind, it would have to be out of view of my mom. LOL
Thank you, Tim! You could get a chair blind like Ron has so it's not a permanent eye-sore like mine is.
@@PhilThach LOL. That may be what I have to do. Then I could place it in the backyard to get closer to the birds.
Let me know if anyone winds up gifting you the 100-300 f2.8. I would hit them up for a lens of my liking too. 😂
I use FV mode on both my R5 and R7. I love that mode. Especially having two bodies. Keeps it simple.
I'm not holding my breath for a free lens but you never know! LOL :)
cool video. Some really pretty birds.
Thank you, Jeff!
Great shots 👍
Thank you!
Really great shots Phil! The head shot of the red bellied woodpecker was beautiful 😍. You’ve got a really nice set up with the blind and all the perches. 👏
Thank you, Bill!
Thank you so much for sharing another awesome video like always and beautiful photos Phil, yesterday it was one of the best days of my life, I witness at 6:00 am more than a thousand common terns landing on the beach nesting sites and about a hundred black Skimmers, it was amazing to see so many birds coming from the ocean ❤️🐦🤗
Thank you, Miguel! That sounds amazing!!
Hi Phil, thanks for sharing awesome shots on R7! You have many cameras, but what is your favorite camera for bird photography? R7, right?
Yes, the R7 is definitely my favorite Bird Photography camera of all the ones I own. Thank you!
Lovely video Phil. Some stunning Species. Well done👍😀
Thank you, Richard!
Great video Phil, have you tried the Sigma 150-600C on the R7, it's my go to setup for hide photography, I'm considering the 60-600 version as an upgrade, both lenses are very affordable when compared to the RF glass
I haven’t tried that lens. I’m sure it’s great! Thank you!
Very nice Dear Friend!😊👍128 and sub.
Thank you!
Will you try the r8?
I don't think I will. It looks really nice but $4000 just isn't in my camera budget right now.
