Oberons sound great for their size, but 90% of quality and juiciness of their sound comes from the amplifier. On a lesser amp, these Oberons will sound differently.
I don't want to offend anyone, but first of all, you should know something about human ears before you start talking about measuring speakers. Human ears themselves are not perfect and linear. a person from the age of 25-35 can hear a maximum frequency of 17-khz-6db and with age this limit decreases even more. Another thing is that everyone hears a little differently, which means that everyone is comfortable with a different sound. Just because someone has a lot of money to spend or owns a store doesn't mean they have good ears because that. it's not about practice but about the fact that human ears are not perfect. Like high-quality MP3 vs CD, it couldn't tell any difference in sound even on a very high-quality audio setup. Only people with very bad or low hearing were able to distinguish the differences, because masked by the frequency, which MP3 does, it no longer works properly and people can hear the differences.
A speaker review without measurements is useless... I never buy speakers before looking at measurement results at ASR.

How do these compare to q acoustics 3020i or wharfdale 12.0 for mostly home theater speakers?
How does this compare with klipsch , dynaudio and starke sound?
Bugs me that manufactures don't make 90db tube amp friendly stand mounts
Hi! May i know Is oberon 1 suitable for desktop speakers?
Yes it will work.
interested in your opinion of ML 35s.
I’m really interested to know how this exceptional speaker would compare to a Sonos faber concerto if anyone has experience. Thanks
I had Concerto Studio which sounded veiled.
Sounds like music being played in a cave and I’m standing outside the cave.
what stands of speakers do you use/ prefer/ offer to us?
I’m using B&W 24” stands.
@@Tharbamar Thanks!
Is this better than the Wharfedale Diamond 225? Will this be an upgrade from it? You think the big brother Dali Oberon 3 will handle power better? Thanks.
Yes, better transient response and better instrument separation with punchier bass performance.
Better than Quad s2?
Nope.
They sound pretty good but you can really hear those tweeters. I don't think they would easily disappear in a room.
Grills are supposed to be on according to dali . All demos on here seem to ignore that fact .
Hi, Tharbamar, I have Oberon 1, they are excellent for the price! Would you please compare Quad S 2 with Oberon 1? Which has overall better sound quality?
Thanks!
Yes, Tharbamar, I would love a few words on that as well: Oberon 1 compared to Quad S-1.
Did you compare those teo?
Could you compare it to the B&W 606 s2? or are the B&W much better? thank you
I had 607 S2 before but 606 S2, I prefer Oberon 1 sound quality and better price to performance but 606 S2 have better power handling, thanks
@@Tharbamar how do these compare to the Dali Oberon 3 which I am considering buying. Please advise me.
Oberon 3 will give you similar sound signature with overall better performance, you cannot go wrong with them for sure, thanks
@@Tharbamar thanks for your advice on the Oberon 3's... I was considering them too...
@@derekallan1341 I have both, the Oberon 1 and 3. Both are great speakers. The Oberon 3 have better power handling and more bass, because of the 7 inch mid/bass driver and bigger cabinet.
13:33 room shaking bass ! played on my Sony MHC - GZR77d
Certainly impressive performance from such a small speaker, I've also been eyeing them. But I like the look of the new Opticon mk2, satin versus vinyl. Would you recommend nearfield? Love your videos Tharbamar!
Yes Opticon MK 2 should be very good in near field listening, thank you.
this or q acoustics 3020i
Try rubicon 2 please !!!!!!!!!!!!!
THere are far too many little bookshelf bangers that people talk about Eg KEF LS50, Klipsch 600M, Elac Debut B6.2, Elac Unifi UB62 Ref,Triangle Borea BR03, Focal Aria 906, Monitor Audio Silver 100, Elac Vela, Quad S2, B&W 706 S2. to name but a few (10) And now here's another...
Well that’s what most people buy.
@@Tharbamar Don't think I'm having a dig at you , but that list of 10 is by no means complete, there is easily another 10 I made a note of. So you guys review these speakers and you say the SAME thing every time, "great bass for the size" really ? What about compared to another bookshelf ? does that phrase still have any value ? So many "over performers" that I don't know where to start , I don't think anybody is going to let me listen to 20 at a time to narrow it down.
Do you know I made comparison videos? I share my true experience, if you think that’s not worth buying it that’s your call, my duty is to share my opinion.
I have received many speakers and there’s not a bad one, some are good, some are better. So I rate them accordingly, if anyone made bad or overpriced one you’ll hear it from me, see my review of Buchadt S300, Dali Zensor 3, Ascend Sierra MKI, Monitor Audio Bronze, B&W 685 S2 etc.,
Some of them I got letters from their lawyers, so don’t think all the UA-cam reviews are the same, you need to dig deeper to who is real and who’s not.
@@Tharbamar I did say i'm not having a dig, or a cheap shot at you. I absolutely love your videos, where else would I get the information ? Here's the thing. I want to buy a pair of standmount speakers, and my simple point is there are too many to choose from ! I want to go to a HiFi store with shortlist of three or four. (not 20) It's my problem and i will continue watching, maybe doing two or three visits to different shops before deciding. I see you as gifted in this area, please keep up the good work.
@@skyengeh I do understand you, I would like to advice you to know what is the sound you are after, that should be real decision making point for anyone, reviewers have too many speakers and too much time with different speakers, just have to take it as grain of salt. Thanks
Dalí Oberon I or Quad SL2 ?
Quad S-2 .
I would audition Quad S2 & Dali Opticon 1 Mk 2 ( Both £599 UK ). Both a price step up from Oberon 1 ( £349 UK ) & should be more detailed
👍👍❤
Good...
Call me a Moron if You wish but having these and the much cheaper JBL stage a130, in My opinión the stage Is much better in all areas
Audio is all about Personal preference.
@@Tharbamar yes for sure, anyway I think You reviewed the jbls and You also liked, what I mean Is that the difference in price point doesnt show a clear advantage over the jbls from these oberon, and for me the jbls are More transparent, every Time I listen to them it's like being in the studio or concert
A brand new Review says that these are to bright extremely silibance nearly unbearable to listen to
It’s all depends on paring components and set up, hear it in my sound sample, which capture about 85% of actual sound quality.
I did watch that video and totally disagree… this review is more accurate
Too many ads! :(
holy thin sounding batman.... radio shack?
