I'm currently experiencing this video with Dali Oberon 1. Dali Oberon 1 sounds much better with its detailed scene. SVS Prime is also good, but Dali Oberon 1 is even better. 500th like from me, thanks for the comparison.

Another vote for Dali, more natural and detailed.

from this clip Dali is the winner for me! bigger punch in the low end more natural midrange and highs. the only flaw about svs imo was little bit too much Sssss sound top end.

Another great comparison. Dali smoother, better integration, SVS a little more analytical but better highs, especially with cymbals, so difficult decision.

Oberons are tuned for having the grills on. It makes quite a difference with cymbals. But it is something to consider if you like it's aestetics without it.

I picked up the Dali Oberon 1's after your review of them. Smaller size was a priority and after searching through a ton of reviews, I saw your video on these in my inbox and they seemed like the perfect balance between size, performance and price. I'm very pleased with them. Got them for €384 which would be about $455.

Just remember, Dali voice their speakers with the GRILLS ON! The grills should be on to get the best sound out of them. Some people say the treble is harsh - thats because the grills are off.

Cordial greetings, congratulations for your excellent videos.
I have a Sabaj A10a amplifier (on the way) and I have read good comments from Dalí Spektor 1 and 2 speakers.
I also own an active subwoofer, with a frequency range from 25 Hz to 200 Hz. For my budget I can buy the Spektor 2, but the Spektor 1 is $ 100 cheaper than the Spektor 2. Which model do you recommend buying, the Spektor 1 or the 2?

@@Tharbamar Thank you for the reply. If it's possible, how do they compare in things like:
Mid range, vocals, soundstage & imaging, bass, forward-ness, timbre, etc? (Not asking for a full review, just a word per category would suffice.) 🙂 (I don't know what to make of dry).
I'm interested in Dali vs Focal 706. (They're both in that $300~$350 range.) Which one do you think is a better purchase for vocals and forwrdness (I love forward speakers with a sense of "presence" in a room.)

    • @nc3419
      @nc3419 2 роки тому +1

@@Untilitpases Which did you get? I would say Dali when I heard it was a nice natural sound which was less dynamic sounding in music and movies while the Focal 706 were more exciting due to dynamic capabilities but presented a somewhat distorted tone. The 706s made the soundstage larger and vocals and instruments could sound a bit streched. Both I compared to my Focal 807Ws. I liked both speakers but the 706s un-natural timbre/tone bothered me. I could have lived with the Oberons but movie soundtracks, particularly speech was a bit laid back in comparison to my Focals. Good speaker at its' price, no major complaints on what I have heard from Dali.

    • @nc3419

As a followup should anyone want to know additional differences between speakers, I now have the Opticon 1 MK1 as it is now on clearance. The difference between the Oberon is primarily detail and resolution with the Opticon having more while the Oberon will have more bass, more midbass, but a bit less clarity and detail, IMO. The Opticon 1 is slightly forward and seems to do better at dialogue with soundtracks. At the retail price regarding build quality and performance, I'd say the $800 was kind of max for what you get as there were less expensive competitors, but at $500 it is a fair deal as it has sonic limitations as all speakers do in that regard and price.
I got them NIB for less as it was the last one and the intention was for desktop given it is a better design for that but will play in small thru moderate sized rooms well too, and off axis performance is good. I tried the Menuet SE and was hoping to really like those but they didn't give enough in certain areas.
The Menuet SE are superior in imaging and you get a more holographic stage but it is a smaller stage too; there is greater resolution but less detail in the music which is counterproductive for me, way too warm for me. I would have probably kept them if they had the detail to go with that resolution, and had the size stage of the Opticon 1.
At 4X what I paid for the Opticons, they were not worth it to me especially as a desktop option. The SE were also harder to drive dipping even lower in ohms than the 4 ohm Opticon 1. Fit and finish, the Menuet Se far exceeded the Opticon which has a cheap vinyl wrap though it looks good and is still built well enough. The Oberon wrap is best vinyl wrap you will come across, wish they used that.
The new Opticon MK2 series have taken a serious jump up in price and if they are built similarly, and I can't imagine sounding too different even with a now higher crossover, the prices are just too high for what you get, IMO. Same goes for Menuets, seem to have taken a $300 price jump. I probably could have sold the SE for more than the refund given the restock fee but I always wanted to try them from the reviews. Goes to show in spite of an outstanding review, a speaker may or may not work for you.
I am fine with the outgoing model and it outperforms enough compared to my Cambridge Minx XL (which is no slouch for the price) in most areas with the Minx XL having more midbass, making it a bit warmer but less resolution. In comparison to Triangle Zeta (same performance as Color series) I prefer the Triangle (larger stage, more dynamic, more delicate highs) which I will use as main driver until I move and depending on space, will get something in the 2K range. Considerations for that right now is the Musician Knight 1 but there are quite a few others as well. Difficult to find a smaller speaker that can tick all your boxes. Under 14 inches tall is the goal with a foot being better....constraints. Setting some constraints can help with selection and I prefer smaller options.
I would like to hear Tharbamer's take on Sonus Faber Lumina 1 and 2 in comparison to Dali. Those, while still relatively high in price, remain lower priced than Dali Opticons. Each are made in their respective countries and while I have no issue with outsourcing to China, I like it when a speaker manufacturer keeps it in-house for QC, etc. Musician Knight 1 is a Chinese manufacturer and I wouldn't prefer it being outsourced somewhere else as an example. My two speakers were outsourced and they perform fine and were less expensive when I bought them, both on clearance, so I don't really don't care if performance is there..within a relatively sane price too.
I also tried the new Emit 10 and liked the lower mids but something was missing in the upper range. People say they are warm, and they are until they're not, meaning they were an unusual presentation to me, like the two face episode in Seinfeld. Sometimes the bass was too much, sometimes not enough and upper end detail missing or so subdued, I couldn't listen without feeling dissatisfied. They did sound relatively big though for a small speaker. Many people like them, I didn't for overall performance.
As to buying on clearance, if you know you'll like a speaker, there is little risk in getting much of your money back. Try selling the new Opticons for anywhere near retail, won't happen, the Lumina have been getting alot of press so resale would be easier but still, prices have really jumped for alot of speakers. I would really like to find a pair of Knight 1s used as resale in the States should be alot lower but there aren't many available and those aren''t speakers you can return if they do not work. So, that's my take. By new, used or on clearance, whichever is best for you.

I have read a comment from a Dali Oberon 1 ( £349 UK ) owner who said they were good but has upgraded to Opticon 1mk 2 (£599 UK ) which he rates more highly.
      Oberon 3 spec goes much deeper ( £529 UK ) than opticon 2 mk 2 ( £899 UK )
I am leaning towards Dali Opticon 1 Mk 2 + a small sub to get the detail & depth which works out at £948

Oberon 1 sound ( to my tase ) more defined, detailed, articulated and punchy. Well, they do have a "shorter fuse" than the SVS, but form your demo - they do sound better withing the limit of a good taste - that unless we've listened to those BIG white things instead .... 😀😀..... Otherwise, SA Saxo 5 outplas both ( tested - it outplays the Oberon 1, so automatically - the SVS too...), even it's made of cheaper components.
