Just a note to say about riding visor "up" many years ago I did this on my bike only doing 40mph and a fly hit me square in the right eye . It detached my retina and I had a touch and go operation to save my eye fortunately it went well . Since then I always ride with the visor down or cracked open a bit covering my eyes
I would like to say I am glad your eyes are now ok and would just like to mention I ride a VTR1000F and find the screen directs bugs and objects into my eyes as well, and I too, have resorted to riding with the visor half open at least. I have also found the wind/bug deflection forces the laws of nature directly into my visor unless I sit back and tuck in a little under the screens protection. I will tell you a tale, I was 17 in the 80`s and riding my YAMAHA 125 lc mk2 at an indicated 90 mph when I saw a black object spinning towards me in what I can only call a KAMIKAZE flight path, It hit me with so much force I was momentarily stunned and it immediately made me close my left eye but my right eye then started to water in sympathy, when I slowly and steadily pulled over I looked in my mirrors and found I had been stung just below my eyeball! The WASP/BEE was a splashed mess on my forehead and cheek but as I glanced around I could feel the barb of the stinnger catching and indeed rubbing on my eyeball, I went to hospital and was told it was a bee sting and I was millimeters from LOOSING MY EYE:(
Absolutely loved my Versys, took it over Stelvio, it loves the motorway cruise, reason for changing, im ODC with chains. Pain adjusting the chain on the O/S arm adjuster. Engine is just bullit proof and the gbox is the smoothest going. With full panniers it looks great, they upped the disc by 10mm to 310mm and fitted a slipper clutch amongst other tweaks. MPG not as good as the GS i was getting 54 mpg. i fitted a larger front sprocket to mine better for motorway cruise grand machine though.
They're certainly not the most glamorous nor am I a big fan of their looks and colours, but as far as my experience with motorcycles goes, Kawasaki is the one brand that seems to always get it right. Best relative comfort in their respective categories, confidence inspiring, but most particularly... the engines. I find they manage to produce just the right balance of horsepower and torque to properly feel the acceleration (not getting at 200 without realising it or feeling a monstrous tractor push to accelerate 5 km/h) and they have a fun factor I hardly find on other brands where efficiency and linearity seem to be the credo of our time. They're the one brand that seems to understand riders the best and their bikes feel like a bike should feel.
2017 white van ride and review - Hey kids it’s the Missenden Flyer here, hope you’re well. Today I’m going to be showing you the 2017 white van. So stick around and Stay tuned and I’ll tell ya what I think of her.
You only need to push the SEL button don't need to hold it down and you can change it whilst riding. The bike you also ride was a standard spec by the look of it (except the exhaust) The GT is the better spec
Mine's been great. Wish they'd put a drive shaft on it though. Love that aftermarket pipe. Looks so much smaller and it isn't annoyingly loud. A few niggles I had were: 1. Windshield too small for pillion. Aftermarket to the rescue. 2. Grips are too skinny for me. Thank you Grip Puppy. 3. I found Full Power mode rather jerky. I left it in Rain mode most of the time until I got a Power Commander with a proper map. Now unless I'm riding it off road, it stays in Full Power mode. 4. Lowered it front and rear an inch. Front was just dropping the trees on the forks. Used a link at the rear. At least two mfgs make good products for this. Best part is, no suspension travel was harmed in the making of my midget bike. 5. Put a bash plate on it to protect the oil filter off road. 6. Shad provided a much cheaper and slightly larger top box. 7. Added highway pegs to stretch out the legs on longer rides. 8. Rebuilt the seat with Seat Concepts foam and cover. Firmed it up a bit. Stocker wasn't too bad, but it seemed like a fun project. Came out nice. My initial set of rotors was warped and replaced under warranty at 13k miles. Bike now has > 36k miles. New brakes have been fine as has everything else. Had the valves checked twice. Yet to have one out of spec. Bang for the buck it's among the best. If you need a slick cellphone dash with integrated kitchen sink, this ain't it. But the bones of the bike are solid. Funny thing about riding modes. On this one on the road, I'm like you, set and forget. On my Thruxton, I change them quite a bit. When it's cold out, the Thruxton gets really jerky in Sport and even Road mode. Rain mode feels really good to me. Makes it feel more like an older twin. Much easier to corner hard without the jerky throttle. When it's warm, Road mode works really well. Sport mode can still be a bit much to keep things smooth, though it's nice on the highway. I use a throttle lock so I don't get a lot of herky jerky, but it pours on the power quick of I need to overtake someone.
James: An under engine exhaust would certainly better than the stock pipe, but I think the Akra on Missiden's bike is rather handsome back there. See 8:55 into the vid.
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne I traded it last Sept for a Road King. Had 56+k miles on it and still ran great. I have a bad leg from an incident with a deer and swinging my leg over low slung HDs is easier.
Had mine reflashed, desmoged, power commander and dynotuned. Now it's more powerful everywhere especially down low, runs cooler ansl smoother . Exceeds my expectations
A motorcycle journalist in South Africa was pulled over by a cop and fined for only having one front light working, and this is not a joke. He ended up having to get a letter from the manufacturer and present that to court where the case was eventually thrown out. Thanks for the review. I owned one Kawasaki in my life and must say it was very frugal on juice.
Jacob....A shaft would be convenient maintenance wise but I own a z900 and it's quickly becoming the best bike I've ever owned. No, it IS the best. I think. Make sure you demo one before you buy anything else.
Glad to see you are finally on a Kawasaki. I have owned several over the years and currently have a 1600 Vulcan Classic. I am considering buying the Versys 1000 This spring to use for local riding as a companion to my FJR 1300. Good job....
People always underrate kawasaki's. Ive had my fare share of them and would go back to one in a flash. Always been reliable tools for me. Tried the versys 1000 last year and almost bought one. Superb bike. Good review as always Tmf.
I test rode this bike a few days ago, I was able to change the riding modes while moving. I just had to close the throttle completely and then do it. I am going to be picking up mine this coming week.
I do like the looks of the big Versys, but as others have pointed out (including your good self) it is just a shame it does not have shaft drive. Nonetheless, I am still keen on them. In future reviews of chain drive machines, could you possibly mention how many miles as a rule between chain adjustment?
@@fingerscrossed2317 For the money the versys 650 Lt is hard to beat. Yes the Tracer 900 GT is a better & more powerful bike with more electronics, but is also atleast $4000 more. It's all in what you want to spend. Wish they would update the current 650 Lt to match the Tracer Gt as far as power & features. They updated the 1000 why not update the 650?
100% agreed. I've had soo many bikes but I loved the versys 650. It was almost perfect. Imagine that bike with the z900 motor in it. That would be a gem!
Great to see you on a Kawasaki, I got a Versys 650 as my first big bike. Two cylinder version. Love it, I might upgrade to the 1000 in the future. Great bang for buck I think.
I got the 650 too, 2017 year. The fuel economy is just sublime, I'm at 450 kilometers on the trip meter (after filling up) and I still have some fuel left in the tank (not city riding though). I'll see if I can get it to 500. :)
One of the best two up bikes, smooth and affordable.my Mrs prefered it over the 1290 ktm on a recent back to back short test ride. So did I actually, especially the 8k saving.Good review as usual ,nice to see you out on the more working man 's machines..
Can't wait for you to review the all new 2019 Versys 1000 SE LT. It's laden with a bunch of new features...about time there Kawasaki !! What's a sport-tourer without electronic cruise?
Just rode both of these (the DL 1000 V-Strom and Versys 1000) this morning and I am in agreement with you - the Versys is a better bike all round I think, but chiefly for me was the engine. A big four seems to suit the style of bike more than a big twin? It's a long way from you but I went to P&H Motorcycles in Crawley - they're franchised for Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, Kawazaki, Honda and Ducati.
I had to chop in my SX because 'er indoors found it torture on the back, even after as little as half an hour. If the Versys had had 140bhp I'd have had one in a minute but a just couldn't bring myself to drop 22 break ... so I added 22 break instead and got a S1000XR. I love the BM but I'd still prefer my SX if I had a free choice.
Another great review sir. I have a ZZR1400 you should try one of those. The 14 does have 2 headlights on when on dip, however I have read somewhere that a bike with 2 lights on at dip can look like a car that is far away. So maybe a safety thing?
Very happy with the ZZR1400, I've toured the UK & made a few trips from the UK to Germany where I think the 14 is really good, especially when your on the Autobahn and there is no speed limit! I've only done relatively short trips two-up, so I can't comment what it would be like full on touring with a passenger.
Hi Andy, Finally subscribed, after enjoying your channel for the last 4 years Your excellent review was instrumental in helping me to buy a used MY13 V1000, replacing a faithful old V-Strom 650 As a serial monogamist bike owner, it was paramount to choose wisely. After 2 years and 25,000km, the 'Ugly Duckling' is a real hoot. We have a blast between lockdowns, touring here in Oz. I'm a middle-aged rider, whose 6'6" frame unfortunately excludes many excellent bikes. The 'big bike' comfort, performance, reliablity and fuel range suit me perfectly. Thanks again, mate
Owned one of these for 18 months, was a great reliable bike, did loads of touring on it. Those MCN lads must have been really thrashing their machine as my bike got over 50MPG uk with a 200 + mile range from its 22L tank. If you go for the panniers they fit neatly into the existing seat base cut outs; no need for ugly frames and very neat. Don't agree on the screen, I found I got loads of turbulence but I am 6'3" tall. A Givi airflow screen is a great fix. Its certainly a great do it all bike but if you tour with someone on the new 1200 BMW GS they will gap you out of the corners with their torque and low down grunt.
Nice one TMF. I have a GT spec (2016) and as you know I have some connection with the brand. First off the comfort factor is as you say very good, I managed Maidenhead to Abergavenny non-stop, all off motorway, over 2 hours. Fuel consumption with 'average' riding, ie not revving the tits off it, is consistently 50/51mpg with a range of ~180miles. The clock has UK as well as US gallon setting so you need to make sure it's in the right mode! Major positive is value for money in my mind but there are a few quirks I have found in my 8000 miles. First off, the OE fitment tyres are awful; unpredictable and tend to make the bike run wide. Swap em asap for the aftermarket compound Bridgestones and enjoy a transformed ride. There is also a high frequency vibe through the seat on my bike, and the ones I test rode, it comes in at 6000rpm; with brisk acceleration you go through it very quickly and at constant throttle, 6000rpm is well above the UK national speed limit anyway. Finally, I would have liked a gear indicator as standard, it was only available as an accessory. All in all, very happy with it and planning on a trip to Spain next year!
Looks the part but it's a bit green (I'm a Hearts fan) and those mirrors are naff. The dash and dials look a bit long in the tooth too, it's just a mass of black. Thanks again for a top review. Is the new Street Triple R review you mentioned coming any time soon?
Awesome review again, although and maybe because I have 650 strom, I would choose the 1000 VStrom mainly due to overall costs. 44mpg for a commuter bike is a bit low for me but you're right its a good all rounder like the Vstrom if your budget is under £11k.
Thanks for the review. I used to own a Kaw zx-900r sportbike. Love the slime green color. No mistaking the brand. :) Although I am not a Harley fan, it would be interesting to listen to your opinions of it.
Another quality review TMF. A couple of bikes I hope you get to test and review when they're available are the Z900 and also the Ninja 400. Also if you get the chance, a test and review of a Honda Crossrunner would be good. Keep the awesome videos coming TMF!
Hay TMF, Versys 1000 is an awesome bike and like you say perhaps overlooked. Regards the weight/height, I'm around your size and found mine no problem riding solo ... but a handful at slow speeds when two up, so I'd encourage people to try them with a pillion ! I dropped mine at slow speed with the wife on the back in Switzerland (both ok) so I've now changed to a Z1000SX, that enables me to get my feet flat on the floor ! I'm missing the Versys round the bumpy twisty back roads where it was a real force to contend with and shafted a lot of "sportier" bikes. That said, get a ride of the new Z1000sx as it's a proper weapon for covering miles fast, and remarkably "upright".
Nice to see you on a Kawasaki always liked the soul of them especially the older models. No nonsense sums it up the armchair pillion loved by missus. Gets us on our treks smoothly and easily remarkably chuckable too!
I always park my bikes in gear. Always. This was highlighted when i gave a mate a go on my new zzr1200. Left it in neutral, for 10 seconds and it rolled forward boom. £500 of damage. He paid for it but, the silver didnt match proper, so i had to sell it. He learned his lesson.
I have the 650 version of this bike. Its my first "big" bike after passing my test and I love it... seriously considered buying the 1000, but thought it might be a bit big for a first bike after having a 125cc
I think they only give you one headlight on at a time, so that at night you don’t tend to look like car headlights that are further off in the distance.
Always a white van or three to get in your way whenever you test ride a good bike. I'll seriously consider this one should I one day feel the need to come down a notch from my GSA 1200.
I traded my 2014 Kawasaki Concourse 14 for the 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000LT, because the Concourse was to heavy to ride in the city, but the Versys is an all around delight to ride ! Thanks for the nice review. Now I want to go ride if the weather isn't to bad ?
Another good video TMF. You may remember I messaged you a few months ago following an excellent review by you of the VStrom 650. Well I decided to go for the Versys 650 and picked it up from Stoke on Saturday, and rode it back to Belfast. My first bike, and first solo ride. Also, I believe you met my father and brother in law at the NEC! Keep the videos coming! And I look forward to your first tour in Ireland!
A great review as always, I decided to go back to some of your old reviews and this stood out as I think this is an underrated bike. Although there have been some big updates with the Versys, all be it, the engine has remained the same, it’s interesting to see your view on this version, as a 6 year old one really is good value for money. It’s a credit to Kawasaki that they have continued with the same engine, which really gives you an indication on the reliability. It would be interesting to see your thoughts on the new current SE version which was updated in 2021. 👍🏼
I have "variable power" modes on my bikes its usually called the right wrist....LOL. Love the good old simplistic bike like this. No extra butons, just turn the key, thunb the starter and off you go!!! Thanks for the review. One of the great values is the Kawasaki line. Just looked at a new 2017 zz14r for $13,000. But the new 1000 Versys was next to it at $11,000. A whole different kind of bike but 13 K is a great deal.
I wish the manufacturers would put Cruise control on this level of motorcycle. It looks good! Lots of good things about this bike. Thanks for the review! Always a fair and honest review.
Great review again. I agree about the lights. It's my no.1 gripe on my S1000XR! I'm led to believe that the reason is so vehicles pulling out don't mistake it for car headlights further away...
Hi Mr flyer. I've had both kinds of dual headlights. It really is pros and cons. Single light on will be an h7 globe which is a more efficient output than the h4 found in dual lights. They should last longer and put less strain on the alternator on low beam. The big difference at night is that you get low beam shape and high beam over the top of that meaning more light in the closer range. Again pros and cons. With an upgraded globe set I'm very OK with h7 on my tdm900.
TMF, glad you finally got out on a big green machine. I can't believe you never rode a Kawasaki. I owned an 01 ZRX1200 for 15 years. I have to say it was one of the best engines ever! I currently ride a 14 Versey 650 (ugly ducklingl). It's a little buzzy out on the highway, but it's a lot of fun on secondary country roads. Hope you get to do more reviews from Kawasaki. Cheers, Rich
@@TheMissendenFlyer That’s a bit of a shame Andy. Kawasaki UK should really reconsider their policy in that respect. I for one take a channel like yours really seriously. I’m looking into getting another bike (sports touring as it’s being called nowadays) and the Versys is on my shortlist. If a motorcycle isn’t featured on your channel it at least drops a place. The other two contenders are the S1000XR and Tracer 9GT. But my gut tells me the Versys might be better suited for my style of riding (which is a lot like yours). Nevertheless, thanks for all the effort you put into your videos. I really enjoy it;-))
Great review TMF, as always. I must agree with you regarding the two head lights; it looks out of balance with just one light on, as if one is not working.
Had a go on a 2017 Versys 1000 the other day. Super competent and an excellent all-rounder but if anything, a bit boring and as we all know, we don't buy bikes with our heads alone but rather with our hearts... The Versys simply can't cut the mustard! Btw, a Harley Review would be awesome. Great job as always! Thanks.
Consider a test ride on the XDiavel. It will turn a lot of things upside down in your head. Very unique to have a feet forward position but with 150+ hp. One of the most unique test rides I have ever been on.
Nice one MrF. It’s got a bit of a Tiger Sport look about it now...very nice. My first road bike was a 2 year old Kawasaki 1015cc Z1R way back. Gorgeous engine, papier-mâché frame and stopped eventually. Good to see you on a Kawasaki!
Good review TMF,im sure a previous incarnation of the Versys was actually identical to the V-Strom,just different badge and a slightly higher spec.I'll always remember Abingdon, spent a week there courtesy of the ATC Cadets many moons ago.Look forward to more of your rides.
Been waiting for that one many thanks .the other one I want to see a review is the gtr1400 I can’t get a decent uk review on this bike as this is the one I’m looking at many thanks
Nice bike and review. I took a closer inspection of this bike at the NEC recently and was suitably impressed. Two bike reviews I’d like to see you do are the big Yamaha Ténéré and how about the MV Agusta Brutale (if you can find a dealer that is). Let me know if you need an assistant👍
Nice to gain access to another major manufacture. You should be spoilt for choice when reviewing. Nice to be able to do comparisons, it helps prospective buyers.
Great review by the way. I agree with you two comments on the controls. I test drove one of these in April and ordered one a few days later. I took the GT model with heated grips and sat nav. I have found that my wife gets wet and or dirty if the side panniers are not fitted, this is due to a badly designed hugger. It needs replacing and extended. I have coated the brightwork - Nuts etc with several co
I've got the 650 grand tour version still plenty power . Always ride this bike with the misses on the back. Super comfortable . Suspension is excellent on bumpy roads. Absolutely love it . Kawasaki motorcycles always seem well put together .. PS Not as nice as my other bike the triumph Street twin .but the Kawasaki is a lot more comfortable on your backside on longer rides .
Paul The Grump - First comment I've read anywhere about the 650 with a pillion, thanks. How do you find it with a pillion, panniers, top box and going up hill? Does it struggle?
Humphrey Humbottom Absolutely fine don't get me wrong it's only a 650 and my wife is medium build . But it pulls fine leaves cars behind anyway . Loads of storage. And so comfortable And the suspension makes a great job of bumps . I love it. It's the 2016 model And I've fitted the MRA touring screen .
Nice review again. I would like to see you review the Honda Crosstourer to compare to this and the V-STROM, since they are mostly road rather then off-road.
You compared the Versys to the V strom, but never mentioned the Tiger Sport which you also reviewed recently. I'm interested in how you'd compare it to the Versys. Thanks! Great videos by the way, always interested in your views.
Yes good point - I should have mentioned that - personally I'm a Tiger Sport fanboy, so I'd take that, I just love the big 1050 triple in that....though technically the Versys is possibly the better bike (in terms of speed/handling and up to datedness)
The mal-adjusted mirrors aggravated me all video 😳😖 Surprised that the Versys has a cable clutch, but guess if it’s light enough, it’s not an issue?! Surprised just how similar it is to the V-Strom, but much more expensive it seems. I’ll stick to my twin, which I prefer to in-line 4’s 😉
Just back from Motorcycle Live, first time visit with the family! I really liked the new Duke 790, also would be nice to see a comparison of the Versys 650 and Ninja 650 pretty please. Great review as always. Keep up the good work!
I have one myself now going on 3 months... Love it! Recommend a better windscreen and the color-matched top box (Givi). Bike is amazingly smooth and wide powerband. Kawasaki really did a nice job bringing down the powerband to lower RPM's from the high-rev Ninja this motor was taken from. It runs smooth and powerful anywhere below 5k RPM. First gear is a bit low, IMO, and you quickly go into second gear. Easy to start in second gear too. I used to have a 2007 Suzuki V-Strom (v-twin) that would put my hands to sleep with its buzzy feel, but this Versys 1000 is so smooth, no problems with buzzy vibrations putting hands to sleep (numb). Also, the seat on the V1K is far better than the one on the Versys 650. Wish it was more cupped like a custom seat, but not bad, and the passenger seat is one of the best factory seats out there, IMO. Finally, I love the Candy Lime Green color and the lines. Looks like a praying mantis or some other predatory insect. I call mine, "The Green Goblin."
Another excellent review MTG . Nice to see a review of a different bike than usual .Will that mean other test rides from that particular dealer ? .Think you mentioned they were HONDA dealers as well Thanks again BOB
Thanks for an excellent review. Having owned the SV 650 and 1000, I haven't been tempted by a V-Strom in either size. Both were slow handling and feel quite dated compared to a modern bike and I have no doubt the Strom does as well. The Versys on the other hand looks to be quite modern and fit. Glad also to see that it has a removable tailsection, so many bikes in this class do not. I have had the misfortune to bend these on occasion and they are much nicer to replace with bolts than welds as well as making the bike easier to service.
Up to the usual high standard tmf. Like many others have asked can you review the versys 650 and make comparisons with the vstrom 650 that you reviewed earlier in the year. Kept up he good work.
Enjoyed this review (and you were on a bit of road that I know). Lovely looking bike. As others have said, it would be great if you could try out the 650 at some point as well, as a direct comparison with the V-Strom. Both are on my list of possible future purchases (not to be repeated within earshot of SWMBO!).

Yes - good advice learned the hard way by the sounds of it! Thanks for passing it on...
@@TheMissendenFlyer Keep an E.Y.E. out for unexpected hazards! ;0)
I ride with the visor down, too. I got hit in the shield with (I think) a bolt, and never needed to question the wisdom of riding any other way.

They're certainly not the most glamorous nor am I a big fan of their looks and colours, but as far as my experience with motorcycles goes, Kawasaki is the one brand that seems to always get it right. Best relative comfort in their respective categories, confidence inspiring, but most particularly... the engines. They're the one brand that seems to understand riders the best and their bikes feel like a bike should feel.
2017 white van ride and review -

Sounds like a good idea for April next year.
Cherry on
You only need to push the SEL button don't need to hold it down and you can change it whilst riding.
The bike you also ride was a standard spec by the look of it (except the exhaust)
The GT is the better spec
Been waiting a long time for Kawasaki reviews.
Hope you do the 650 lineup (Ninja, Z, Versys)
Mine's been great. Wish they'd put a drive shaft on it though. Love that aftermarket pipe. Looks so much smaller and it isn't annoyingly loud.

Shaft drive mmmmmm .... also an under engine exhaust like the 650 versys. It would get rid of that ugliness.
James: An under engine exhaust would certainly better than the stock pipe, but I think the Akra on Missiden's bike is rather handsome back there. See 8:55 into the vid.
You still got the bike? And yes, a shaft would make so much sense for the type of riding people will be doing on a big bore Versys.....
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne I traded it last Sept for a Road King. Had 56+k miles on it and still ran great. I have a bad leg from an incident with a deer and swinging my leg over low slung HDs is easier.
@@saddle8bag Thanks for the reply. Enjoy the HD...
Had mine reflashed, desmoged, power commander and dynotuned. Now it's more powerful everywhere especially down low, runs cooler ansl smoother . Exceeds my expectations
Hi, can you put the details of where you had the work done and cost. Im looking to buy a Versys. Thanks in advance.
Just bought a versys 1000 lt last week and love it so far. Very good on weight and balance.
Hard to disagree with anything there - it seems just a well-done bike.
Please review the z900rs in 2018, such a lovely looking bike. 😊
Top of my wish list Richard!
+Alan B'Stard M P ....Why bring back the z1? The new z900 blows the original away in every aspect.
blipco5 wish they would've made it with the shaft driven like the kz was
Jacob....A shaft would be convenient maintenance wise but I own a z900 and it's quickly becoming the best bike I've ever owned. No, it IS the best. I think. Make sure you demo one before you buy anything else.
Commercial money maker thats all....reall not retro thats why i own my bigbore 1977 z1000
Glad to see you are finally on a Kawasaki. I have owned several over the years and currently have a 1600 Vulcan Classic. I am considering buying the Versys 1000 This spring to use for local riding as a companion to my FJR 1300. Good job....
Now THAT is a proper gauge cluster. Beautiful! The analog tachometer is required.
People always underrate kawasaki's. Ive had my fare share of them and would go back to one in a flash. Always been reliable tools for me. Tried the versys 1000 last year and almost bought one. Superb bike. Good review as always Tmf.
Thanks for watching and for stopping buy! All the best - TMF
I test rode this bike a few days ago, I was able to change the riding modes while moving. I just had to close the throttle completely and then do it. I am going to be picking up mine this coming week.
Congratulations!
Another great review, please do a ZZR 1400 soon.
I do like the looks of the big Versys, but as others have pointed out (including your good self) it is just a shame it does not have shaft drive. Nonetheless, I am still keen on them. In future reviews of chain drive machines, could you possibly mention how many miles as a rule between chain adjustment?
Absolutely loved my versys 650. I just felt it was about 30-40 hp short of being perfect for me, which is why I now have a tracer 900
Is IT better than the versys ?
@@fingerscrossed2317
For the money the versys 650 Lt is hard to beat. Yes the Tracer 900 GT is a better & more powerful bike with more electronics, but is also atleast $4000 more. It's all in what you want to spend. Wish they would update the current 650 Lt to match the Tracer Gt as far as power & features. They updated the 1000 why not update the 650?
How's pillion comfort on tracer and Versys 650. Are they highway capable with a pillion?
My preference would be with the 1 litre vstrom, bit more character from the v twin engine, nice bike though.
Nah, I'd take the Triumph Tiger Sport. That triple engine is a peach.
Leandro Natale its not a v twin its a in line twin
Grahew no its not...the V Strom id a 90 degree V twin
@@grahew632 Nooooooo its a v twin. In line would be side by side.
I have to agree. Shopping now myself and can buy the 2019 vstrom new for considerably less than a '19 Versys as well.
hi get upto 57mpg on my versys1000 mixed riding solo or two up along with good use of speed no need to rev hard on bike like this
Can't wait for you to review the all new 2019 Versys 1000 SE LT.
I would love to hear your comparison of this and the z1000sx
The 14 looks an awesome bike, are you pleased with it? Any good at two up riding?
Very happy with the ZZR1400, I've toured the UK & made a few trips from the UK to Germany where I think the 14 is really good, especially when your on the Autobahn and there is no speed limit! I've only done relatively short trips two-up, so I can't comment what it would be like full on touring with a passenger.
Thanks for your reply Kevin, will have to take one for a test ride can't wait.
Hi Andy,
Finally subscribed, after enjoying your channel for the last 4 years
Your excellent review was instrumental in helping me to buy a used MY13 V1000, replacing a faithful old V-Strom 650
As a serial monogamist bike owner, it was paramount to choose wisely.
My pleasure Mike - welcome along!
Oh... dude... if 119bhp is not enough for casual riding, what do you need?
notallgarbage totally agree how much bhp do you need on 2 wheels in the real world , madness
Good review! Would love to see you do a review on a Z1000sx a bike I own but would love to know your thoughts. Cheers
Brilliant - thanks for the real world feedback Geoff....
My missus complains if I don’t hold it at 6000rpm now and then ;)
Agree on the OEM tyres, 5k miles on mine and my rear is toast! Dissapointed about mileage and grip on the oem t30's.
I rode my Versys1000 MK2 all around Spain from barcelona down to Jerez then up to santander.UNBEATABLE springs to mind
Although I am not a Harley fan, it would be interesting to listen to your opinions of it.
Another quality review TMF. A couple of bikes I hope you get to test and review when they're available are the Z900 and also the Ninja 400. Also if you get the chance, a test and review of a Honda Crossrunner would be good.
Keep the awesome videos coming TMF!
Will do Reece - cheers...
I just purchased the 2017 Triumph Tiger Explorer XCx, but I still enjoying listening to your reviews on other bikes!
That's the spirit!
Great “real life” review as always. I’d like you to try a Yamaha XT1200ZE Super Tenere. I’d like to know your opinion as a Gs rider.
Stay tuned - it's in the can and coming soon!
Thank you thank you . I like mine glad you rode it .mines the gt model love it
Another great review, soo good to see reviews from a down to earth guy with honest opinions and covers all aspects of the bike 😁
Thank you
Nice to see you on a Kawasaki always liked the soul of them especially the older models. No nonsense sums it up the armchair pillion loved by missus. Gets us on our treks smoothly and easily remarkably chuckable too!
Got the same one same year same color. Just done a 3k trip round Europe great. Head light my grip too. Thanks as always great video
I think they only give you one headlight on at a time, so that at night you don’t tend to look like car headlights that are further off in the distance.
makes no sense to me but i always wondered why. i mean anyone can tell its not a car if u can see.
it does have a little switch behind the left handle grip for lighting up both if you want for passing.
I do love Kawasakis. I have a serious soft spot for them. Unfortunately a major down point is the service intervals. Only 3.5k.
Got my 2016 Versys 1000LT in July 2016 ....Great Bike...
Congratulations David - enjoy the new bike and ride safe!
I agree. Time to revisit the mighty Versys Thou TMF.
Thanks for watching and for stopping by! All the best - TMF
I wish the manufacturers would put Cruise control on this level of motorcycle. It looks good! Lots of good things about this bike. Thanks for the review! Always a fair and honest review.
You're super welcome and agreed!
Great to see you test and review the cruiser range of Kawasaki and Harley’s.
Brilliant bikes. My 1st bike was a Kawasaki KH100 30 years ago, oh happy days. Great video.
Cheers, Rich
...well I just remembered I did test ride an ER6 many moons ago....forgot about that one!
first thing I noticed is that the mirrors are way out of line... that was strange. Lovely bike though, glad to see you on a kawasaki
If you could, I would love to see you do a video on the new Versys 1000 (2021/22)
Kawasaki's are quite difficult for us Vloggers to cover as for some reason Kawasaki UK won't engage with us.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer
That’s a bit of a shame Andy.
Thanks.
Cheers Marcio!
Consider a test ride on the XDiavel. It will turn a lot of things upside down in your head. Very unique to have a feet forward position but with 150+ hp. One of the most unique test rides I have ever been on.
Yes I have put in a request with my friends at Ducati UK so you never know - one for the warmer weather next year maybe....
I guess the Rivals would be the triumph tiger sport or the new mt09 tracer SP as both have Cruise control And be a similar price range .
Great news, looking forward to you testing more Kawasaki models
Me too!
I really wish it were shaft drive.Other than that, a really nice machine as are the smaller Versys. Thanks TMF👍👍
No problem 👍
Great review by the way. I agree with you two comments on the controls. I test drove one of these in April and ordered one a few days later. I took the GT model with heated grips and sat nav. I have found that my wife gets wet and or dirty if the side panniers are not fitted, this is due to a badly designed hugger. It needs replacing and extended. I have coated the brightwork - Nuts etc with several co
Nice one Pete....

Absolutely fine don't get me wrong it's only a 650 and my wife is medium build .
But it pulls fine leaves cars behind anyway .
Loads of storage.
And so comfortable
And the suspension makes a great job of bumps .
I love it.
It's the 2016 model
And I've fitted the MRA touring screen .

Great, thanks!
Would love to see a review of the Multistrada Enduro. Even a comparison between the GSA and the KTM would be sweet.
Great review. I follow all your video logs. Could you review the versys-650 next? Great middle weight touring option in my books.
Nice review again. I would like to see you review the Honda Crosstourer to compare to this and the V-STROM, since they are mostly road rather then off-road.
Do a review of the new Versys1000 2020. Would like to hear your opinion on the bikes quality and price point. Keep up the good work!
Nearly bought one .had the z1000sx but decided to go for mt09 tracer brilliant bike and dose what it says on the tin another grate review 👍
Slick bike...I’m getting the 2018 black and red one with fog lamps. 👍🏻
Nice!
I've ridden the old 650 version wasn't bad pretty comfortable. 10k seems pretty steep tho!
Nice that you've finally got a Kawasaki. Any plans for the Z900 in the future ?
It's very much on my radar - no firm plans yet but as soon as I can, I will!
Great review , you must get yourself a ride on the 2019 SE .What a bike !!! should imagine it will surprise a few people
The mal-adjusted mirrors aggravated me all video 😳😖 Surprised that the Versys has a cable clutch, but guess if it’s light enough, it’s not an issue?! Surprised just how similar it is to the V-Strom, but much more expensive it seems. I’ll stick to my twin, which I prefer to in-line 4’s 😉
Another solid video review TMF. It would be great to see you review the new Z1000SX. Keep up the great work and welcome to the world of Kawasaki.
Thank you Adam....
Just back from Motorcycle Live, first time visit with the family! I really liked the new Duke 790, also would be nice to see a comparison of the Versys 650 and Ninja 650 pretty please. Great review as always. Keep up the good work!
Cheers Neil
Love mine, first thing I changed was the screen. Got an MRA Vario and it’s lovely 👍🏽
They work well don't they!
Yes! Bought the screen based on your praise in other videos :) - cheers!
Thanks for watching and for stopping buy! All the best - TMF
How about a hooligans Hyperstrada... or the Hypermotard if not covered earlier?
Another excellent review MTG . Nice to see a review of a different bike than usual .Will that mean other test rides from that particular dealer ? .Think you mentioned they were HONDA dealers as well
Thanks again BOB
TMF in 2017 : Must get myself a 4 cylinder
TMF in 2020 : Has bought several bikes. All twins.
Update. Goldwing ! Who would have guessed?
@@hedgehog3900 6 Cylinders ?
Thank you thank you !! Love the versus. The it comes with side cases
Enjoyed your review once again. Nice bike with a wonderful engine. But it's a bit too tall for me and it needs cruise control and heated grips.
I agree - heated grips should be mandatory!
I had an 04 650strom and 03 1000 Strom, now I have a 2016 vesys 1000 .
Always great reviews , TMF would love to see you do a review on Ducati hypermotard sp . Thinking of getting one, would like your opinion . 👍
Up to the usual high standard tmf. Like many others have asked can you review the versys 650 and make comparisons with the vstrom 650 that you reviewed earlier in the year.
Kept up he good work.
Will try my best - seems a popular choice!
could you please review 2017 Z1000SX. Thank you. :O))
absolutely beautiful. Would've liked it to be compared to a crosstourer and a 1200 süper tenere
