Hey dude I'm loving the video, the car and your story! My dad bought me a Red 1999 3000GT Base Model for $2,500 on craigslist in Houston Texas for my first car. It was about month before he passed away in November of last year. I only got to drive the car for not even a week. The engine ended up having a cracked block when i was looking it over at home. So I ended up getting one of my buddy's to fix her up with another motor that I just recently bough. A 94-97 ENGINE 3.0L V6 DOHC with 61,00 miles from Japan. I hope to get her up and running again soon.
Ay brotha, Im curious how did it go and what issues did you end up doing installing it because 93-96 DOHC 24V are AWD and Base are FWD. How it go? Because I want to do the same?
Wow I thought I was the only one that felt like that about a 3000GT... I have a 99 SL and it's been with me since 2004 and it is not going away. Just like you, I'm emotionally invested in this car.
Michael Krell i would definitely prefer the manual over the auto on any gt3000. Not only for the feel and badaasery but also for reliability and maintenance costs.
I own 7 of them. The 8th one will be here in about 2 weeks. You don't have to explain the passion for these beauties to me. Nice car. I"m a bit older than you, in my early 50's.
WindwolfBlog wow 7err...8!!! Thats how i was with 68 Chargers before marriage n kids!! I sure love these cars... Although not an import guy at all, I overlook that cuz it says Dodge on it😁😂😁
I feel the exact same about mine, it was my dream to own one and I managed to snag one for my first car as well. But a drunk driver totaled mine while parked in front of my house, now the dream is alive again with the restoration of my replacement. I don't care what anyone says about these cars it's the car that's put me where I am in life and who I've became. My children will also have the pleasure of driving one of these bc I feel it's a timeless car that brings a level of joy that will never die. Good luck with yours!
Tbh I saw this car on the road and fell in love with it. I plan on keeping this car till I die. Btw this car is older than me by a few years as I recently turned 18 last year
Daniel Silverstine Sings Hey I saw you in the facebook groupchat! Nicee you are really invested in it I hope that I fall in love with it when i get mine next week just like everybody else. I love the community
92 VR4, 97 VR4, 97 SL Automatic for my DD. Love these cars. Bought my 92 in 2005. Drive my 97 vr4 every weekend to shows/meets. People take pics of it while stopped at lights, video of it while I drive PCH.
Never had so much attention in my life! Bought a 1994 sl a week ago. Love the attraction from car lovers and people who are familiar! Anyone have any issues with a well kept 1994ish at almost 200,000?
Your story is EXACTLY the same as mine. Dad bought my first car a 92 dodge stealth es. I loved it! This past year I bought a 95 3000gt sl. Love every bit of it besides the down time thats "normal" with these babies
Same story here. Dad bought me a 94 base stealth for my first car back in '06. Fell in love with it. Finally bought my dream '94 VR4 about 3 years ago. I overpaid by a lot but it's been super fun to drive. Had to replace the clutch and rebuild the tranny about 5 months ago. Just spun the bearing about 3 weeks ago and it broke my heart. Everyone keeps telling me to sell it/part it out and try to get some of my money back but i refuse to give up on her. She is super clean and only had 1 previous owner and I know I'll never find another one in such good shape as the one I have. The only thing that sucks is that there are very few local guys willing to work on it and my mechanical knowledge is pretty limited. Hopefully I'll be able to get the engine rebuilt/replaced within the next 5 months for a reasonable price. Still trying to find a local shop near Baltimore that can help me out without killing me on the price. Best of luck with yours, she is a beautiful ride!
Me too. Picked up a 91 sl. My mom's boss as a kid bought a 91 vr4 and i fell in love with it. Though i wasnt finished with my 87 trans am build, a deal came across and i used my paint job money to buy it. Don't regret it one bit. Plans are to change out the rims to get them flush with the wheel wells and lower it just a tad.
I daily my bone stock 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, and love it to death! I've been stuck on this platform since the early 90s. The VR4 is faster stock to stock than the z32 300ZX TT and fd3 RX7 TT in a straight line, and the mk4 Supra TT only passes it over 100mph. I owned a 1993 300ZX TT 5 speed manual and my 96 VR4 at the same time (sold the z, kept the VR4), took both to the strip: 1993 300ZX TT stock: 13.82@103mph 1996 3000GT VR4 stock: 13.31@105mph The 3000GT / Stealth platform is amazing, albeit misunderstood. They're awesome daily drivers if treated well. Mine is still stock, im waiting until i can import a 1994 and up j spex GTO MR, which dusted the R33 Nissan Skyline GTR to the mile mark and beat the R34 Skyline GTR to the 400m mark and also kept up til the mile mark. The GTO had a bigger following in Japan than in the US and Europe. In Japan all 4 sell for similar prices, the mk4 Supra TT only sells so high because of the fast and furious movies and the fact that the mk4 mods so well - in Japan it sells for similar prices as the GTO / Fairlady Z / RX7 TT.
Great story. I got my 94 SL in 2002 after someone ran a stop sign and totaled the 240sx I had owned only 3 years. I went to a dealer and test drove a 96 240sx and saw the 94 SL. I was sold on the 3000GT after one test drive. I daily drove it from 2002 until 2016. It is closing in on 300K miles without any major problems. Life has changed and free time gets more limited as you get older. The GT now sits in a garage most of the time. I probably drive it a few hundred miles a year but each time I ride in the car it makes me feel 20 years younger and brings back great memories. Sadly, parts support from Mitsubishi is dismal these days. If I end up needing a part that was discontinued years ago and is unavailable in the aftermarket or used world I will be stuck. Maybe then I will drain all fluids from the car, cut a hole in my house, and roll it into the living room to become a decoration.
I completely understand your stance on the 3000 gt/dodge stelth my first car was a 95 3000gt sl with custom pearl white and foose pinstripes. Now at 34 I have a 98 base 99 base and 2 93 vr4s
I had a 96 stealth rt when I was 21 years old. I'm 41 now and I bought a 97 3000gt sl a year ago and I've done a engine-out service myself and replaced nearly everything LOL Feels good to know there are others that still love these cars. I'm keeping mine for sure. Long live the 3000gt!
I still have my first car that I bought brand new when I was in 11 th grade it’s a 92 Mitsubishi 3000gt Vr4 and I plan on keeping it till I die. I drove it off the dealership floor. My mom fronted me the money and I paid it off. Congratulations, you choose the most reliable 3000gt ever made. That sohc engine will last you forever if you take care of it. Unlike the vr4 if your timing belt jumps time of breaks you can just slap a new one on and you can keep on driving it. Stay away from the SL it’s unreliable and slow. If I didn’t have history with my vr4 I would be driving a sohc base as well
I have the same passion for the 3s platform, funny thing is that at first i wanted a 300zx when i saw this guy on' one and because a neighbour drove a 94 3k sl auto, I ended up buying a Dodge stealth manual base model, i fell in love with it, now I've had 2 base models, 1 SL and 2 vr4s. I sold all of them as of now I really want to Buy another one I'm 29. Great vídeo!
Holy!!!! LOL I’ve had the 92 Stealth (green), then 94 Pearl Yellow (daily driver for 10 years & it lasted til 225K It’s sitting in the yard waiting for some attention. I’m not holding my breath! Anyhoo......back in October I found a Pearl White 1999 3000gt in Cleveland (I live 65 miles south of Chicago).... Bought it for $7k.....base model with 61K miles on the original engine. My son (the mechanic) scolded me for not Consulting him.... but I’m totally satisfied with the purchase. If funding allows over the next few years I’ll do what I can afford. But like YOU......I totally have a “THING” for that car! I always feel like I’m in the cockpit of a colonial viper or x-wing star fighter. I literally feel myself becoming one with the vehicle. Oh I’m a 59 yr’s young woman and just started a new job where I’ll be driving on average four days a week 150 miles at least every day and I’m taking this ride! thanks for the video I’m glad there are others!
I had the same first encounter with a 3000GT , a women who owned a store in Duluth MN had a green DOHC. The first time I seen it I thought it had to be worth $70K , it looked insanely stunning for its time. Around 2000 I bought a 1994 DOHC green 5spd with 40k miles , it was as close to new cond as you could hope for. Still have it today , Addco sway bars , Bilstiens , Eibach and Enkie RC5's and almost ZERO issues mechanically in the 18 years ...and I have pounded on it... the NA's are bomb proof ! Cheers from Thunder Bay ON Canada!
You know you are a 3kgt nut when you import one 2000 miles back to Canada , I gave up on used salties from MN and went to Utah to get one ... minty fresh with only a very slight desert sand blast on the glass headlights. They never sold them in Canada , so the importer is my name on the door sticker ... not Mitsubishi Motors..lol
wtf never ever that...heard many times it was the other way around...the cars were built for awd only setup for FWD cos of CHRYSLER wanted to offer more affordble models to sale n fund the turbos.
Hammer Home: where ur 3kgt videos sure like to see what u did to ur Mid level NA 3kgt..own 3 of em myself but plan on getting a selling two n getting a VR4 this year so have turbo n non turbo.
MotoP_ WV The turbo cars are so much fun to drive and surprisingly quick for the amount of weight they have, nearly 4,000 lbs. My Stealth weighs in at 3792lbs. The 3S are great cars and if you take care of them, very reliable. You have a beautiful 3KGT. The base models are less of a headache and dont run specifically on Premium gas. Your car looks very clean and well maintained.
I have a 1993 SL, I love it to death and its my baby. Nice to see that you can find such enjoyment from even the base model. Great video man, I plan on keeping mine as long as I can!
I feel you on this video!!! I've always loved these cars mainly the 91 to 93 models... something about the flip up headlights. Ever since I was a teenager I've wanted this car....I'm also 32 and my dream has come true finally. 3 months ago I traded my Honda Sabre 1100 motorcycle for a 95 3000gt....Best decision I've ever made. May not be the best car on the road with all these newer models cars but it's the pride and sense of accomplishment that makes this car to me if not anyone else the best car on the road lol
I've got both a 92 Stealth R/T (Fiji Blue) and a 92 Stealth R/T TT (Forrest Green). Lovem both. Wanted one since high school and now I have two. I hope I never have to sell them.
I just turned 34 and about to graduate college, a VR4 or RT/TT is what I've been itching to get over a Hellcat, Corvette , or anything else. It's been on my top 3 car wishlist ever since junior high.
Havent bought one yet but after a recent road trip i realized i need/want a gt car. For me personally i think the mitsubishi gto vr4 is the right gt car. People talk crap about haldex style awd but at the limits in the rain you want the haldex system.
I currently own a Mitsubishi GTO/3000GT V6 Twin Turbo all wheel drive 1994 my reason for only one is there I have a Mitsubishi Galant vr4 1998 and they practically have the same motor that's how I fell in love with these cars
My friend has a blue 94 3000gt Sl and he babied it. I remember being in it as a kid and now I'm 24. Recently, I had a dream that I was driving it and couple days later found out he was selling it.! I told him to reserve it for me so I'll be owning one next month. the anticipation is unreal. It'll be a dream come true!
Pittsburgh is my hometown. I wish I would’ve seen that on Craigslist , I probably would’ve scooped it up! Those cars are super sharp and I totally relate to your story. I’m 36 years old so the 90s cars still resonate with me!
I love mine, too. It's a '97, red with tan interior. Leather of course. I LIKE DRIVING IT. It's what matters, to me. They're fun, and they're eye-catching, and they're different. They're fast, without being stupid-fast. They snarl, lol. It's cool. I'm a 60 year old female, btw. Today is my bd, and this has been the most challenging year of my life, so far. I wondered if I should maybe consider selling it and driving something more sedate, but I just can't.
Great speech explaining why you love your 3kgt. I too am in love with mine.. albeit a base model 92 Stealth, it still is my favorite vehicle. Down the road I will get the DOHC model, but for now, the SOHC is working great as a daily drive and an introduction to the platform. These cars are legendary.
I relate to you man, i was passionate about the 88 and up iroc z camaro. I 2wd lucky enough to owned a super nice one but looking for a 3000gt currently and i like the 97 98 model as well.
congrats on getting your dream car brother! Lots of folks never get that opportunity! It's a shame what's happening with the Mitsubishi brand, when just a few years back they were making brilliant cars like this one. If there's a car that could turn the brand around, it's this one. But they show no interest in doing that :-(
Almost Identical Story 8 years ago I searched all over for a Black 97-98 GT. Sending emails all over Took off to SC 6hrs away 2 look at two. 1st one actually blew up on the test drive lady lied about the condition.. Left there went to eat before looking at the other about 30 mins away. I got a email s1 in Indiana agreed to sell me there 98 Black 3000 GT Base with 93k Miles. $ 2400 Still have it 126k miles. Will never sell it..
I daily a 1991 3000gt sl I love that car to death it's amazing, so much time and money, and blood in it haha, I will drive that thing until the day I die
It's better than you think. I own two. Both second gen. VR4 Spyder and '96 RT TT. Both rarest 3S models. Could talk for days. Ive driven all cars. These are my favorite. Best 90s JDM. If ever interested in buying my VR4 hit me up. Stealth not for sale...its my wet dream car and most agree when they ride in it bc of how its set up. 3S cars worth every bit of work they may need if you buy one. Trust me. Even if surface rust still buy it. That good.
Years later we never found the answer as that intro drive scene refused to quit 😂😉 kidding, great review and many can relate to never seeing these, im around the same age and still have a stealth despite getting Porsches, Audis, BMWs, and (currently 6) mercedes. Still something cool/nostalgic about these cars even if they will remain cheap forever
I’m looking into purchasing a UK spec 3000GT, 329+bhp with Ksport brake upgrades and many more goodies! Leather interior also, my concern is how do these beautiful cars hold up with high miles? The one I’m looking at has 145000 miles. I do have a very heavy foot and like to go quite quick. I do like to service my own vehicles I.E basic stuff like brake pads, oil, spark plugs etc... should I be concerned regarding the mileage or not? Feedback would be MUCH appreciated! It does seem like a genuine car as the last owner had it for 16 years, it’s a 1998.
Ronnie Mata i guess the non turbo ones it’s because of how the engine is possitioned and the vr4 because automatic transmissions in those times wheren’t as good as modern automatic ones
I had a 98 I got from Ohio and I was hit by a guy high on heroin and it was totaled 😢. I had a 93 and the 98 the 93 for some reason was faster than the 98. And I love the 98 look better too for the same reason.
My first was a 92 3000gt. Just bought a 95 that will get a 4g63 with e36 bmw trans and rear diff. This car should have alwats been rear wheel and i plan to make it so.
XuleGua absolutely. The car came with those and as soon as winter is over I'm going to put a new set on and use these as a winter set. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy
@@PeaJayYt I always wanted a vr4 and there a local tuner near me what I wanted to do is pull the engine and build it but all my friends with new cars just tell me parts will be hard to find since it's so old and that scared the hell outta me, I want to make a 700hp vr4 lol
@@PeaJayYt I'm looking to purchase a 3000gt and its gonna be my first car I'm going to purchase. How hard are parts to find just in case? Its gonna be my daily but I do have a 2nd car I'm keeping
Please watch some detailing videos so you don’t destroy your car with that horrible miserable brush at the car wash. I’m just a concerned detailer that loves theses car. With a little work it could look really great. Thanks
Carbon_ Flash_P heck yea, i live up 44 near monaville. I drive a miata and im trying to fix it up but cant find the right ppl to work on it. U know anybody local worth trusting?
Hey dude I'm loving the video, the car and your story! My dad bought me a Red 1999 3000GT Base Model for $2,500 on craigslist in Houston Texas for my first car. Mikey Sparks I'd love to have a 99 as well!
Ay brotha, Im curious how did it go and what issues did you end up doing installing it because 93-96 DOHC 24V are AWD and Base are FWD. How it go? Because I want to do the same?

i am looking at a 94 sl in very good condition i am just worried about speed are they still fast and fun to drive?
I got a 1994 mitsubishi GTO vr4
i got a daily 95' 170k
I own 7 of them. The 8th one will be here in about 2 weeks. You don't have to explain the passion for these beauties to me. Nice car. I"m a bit older than you, in my early 50's.
WindwolfBlog well, they are nice looking cars. I feel like they still have that true sports car look to them, not a sporty sedan look.
Yes, that is a good way to put it. I heartily agree.
WindwolfBlog wow 7err...8!!! Thats how i was with 68 Chargers before marriage n kids!! I sure love these cars... Although not an import guy at all, I overlook that cuz it says Dodge on it😁😂😁
Ahh...so YOU are the reason why we can't have nice things! haha! I have a 91 VR-4.
Why do you need 8 identical cars?
This car was way ahead of its time
It really was. Say what you want about it but the supra, rx7, and 300z didn't have all wheel steering and active aero lol
I feel the exact same about mine, it was my dream to own one and I managed to snag one for my first car as well. Idk I think the 3000gt is sexy as hell. One the best looking 90s cars imo
Tbh I saw this car on the road and fell in love with it. I plan on keeping this car till I die. Btw this car is older than me by a few years as I recently turned 18 last year
I know how you feel! I'm 18 and I've already owned 4 of them! A 99 SL, 92 vr4, and two 98 base!
Daniel Silverstine Sings Hey I saw you in the facebook groupchat! Nicee you are really invested in it I hope that I fall in love with it when i get mine next week just like everybody else. I love the community

I drive these cars not my wife Maria. Dave.
Maria Rojo I've found this car gets photographed more on the road than my z06 does lol

U betta do it soon man they going up in value as we speak.
I know exactly how you feel about your 3000GT. I have a 1995 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo. Its my dream car and I absolutely love it.
I can't wait to get into a vr4 eventually. But I'll always keep this one
I love my c5 Corvette, but my 3000GT holds a special place to me
I had a 1995 black. I miss it so much. Im working on getting another one. I totaly understand the passion.
I absolutely love them!
Congrats buddy! I'll keep mine forever
Pittsburgh is my hometown. I wish I would’ve seen that on Craigslist , I probably would’ve scooped it up! Those cars are super sharp and I totally relate to your story. I’m 36 years old so the 90s cars still resonate with me!
Yeah man. I got a steal on it
I love mine, too.
Ive wanted a Stealth since they were new. Finally got an RT/TT...!!! But its so nice and low mileage, i bought a rough 3000GT as a daily!!!😂
Only way I think I'd get rid of my 98 is if I found a SOHC white 99 w sunroof and black interior
@@PeaJayYt haha thats really ironic! Theres a guy that goes to high school with me that owns an IROC. I've got a 93 VR4. I love his car too lol
Its been like 2yrs, how's the car ?
Nice video btw, refreshing to see
Love your passion man. Your 3000 is beautiful 🤙🏼
I got a 91 dodge stealth es I'm putting back on the road currently, honestly same deal as a kid I always wanted one of these
I have the same feeling I have a 95 Dodge Stealth RT is my daily driver
congrats on getting your dream car brother! Lots of folks never get that opportunity! It's a shame what's happening with the Mitsubishi brand, when just a few years back they were making brilliant cars like this one. If there's a car that could turn the brand around, it's this one. But they show no interest in doing that :-(
My dad bought me a 91 3kgt sl 5 speed for my first car. Wish I kept it.. I'm looking for a vr4 in nice condition
Yeah I'll keep mine forever. I absolutely love it
I own a 97 3000gt base black .... I love it......
+RALF SMASH Yeah man. They can say what they want, but they're awesome daily drivers
I daily a 1991 3000gt sl I love that car to death it's amazing, so much time and money, and blood in it haha, I will drive that thing until the day I die
I had a silver 92 sl and miss that car bad lol
I love the 93, 97, 98, and 99 sl models. I have a 98 sl and am thinking about getting an after market steering wheel. Thoughts?
thank you for this video, i share the same feelings just with my 99 impreza coupe
As long as you love your car.. that's all that matters...and there are a lot of great cars out there....
I’ve got 2 1995 3000GTs ones a FWD DOHC and I have a VR4 both pearl white in connecticut
I wish one day i own a vr4 version of this car...its my childhood dream car
chilli pom pom dude me too. It's on the list to get eventually
That good.
Years later we never found the answer as that intro drive scene refused to quit
😂😉 kidding, great review and many can relate to never seeing these, im around the same age and still have a stealth despite getting Porsches, Audis, BMWs, and (currently 6) mercedes. Still something cool/nostalgic about these cars even if they will remain cheap forever
I have the same idea, I had a 1990 stealth, thinking about getting one. So cheap now.
How awesome !!! Im about to get a red 98 red for 2,500 as well , we deserve it
Can we share it on the site?
Steve Burrows absolutely
Your story is same as mine. Love my 3k. Will give it to my kids one day.
I had a electric blue 1992 3000gt. I miss that car.
Where are you at, I saw the wv tag? My pearl 98 vr4 needs a friend, I'm in Putnam county. Funny my family is from ft Myers/cape coral.
Which model of the 3000gt is the fastest & has the most Horsepower Stock.... Also which is best for mods.
Mine was 164k on it and I haven't had an issue one except tires which are normal wear items anyway
MotoP_ WV thank you for the reply. I’ve made the decision and I’ll go for it.
Yea Pittsburgh reppin bro picking up a red sl today can't wait for it
love the story very humble and I also have a white 1997 3000gt and i love my car it has 253k miles
My oldest step son (14) just bought an eclipse for $270. My youngest step son (11) wants one of these.
Is the car fairly fast even though it’s a base model?
Deeken Wheeler i mean for what it is yes. The handling is great, but I mean its slow to be a 6 cyl bc of the weight
Real question is. Can you daily drive a mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 stick shift?
You can daily drive anything w enough money
@@PeaJayYt money pit here i come!
@@Skidmark0303 I'm looking at a 99vr4 so I feel you lol
I still wonder why non turbo cars came FWD and VR4's only came manual
joecugo 😑
Ronnie Mata i guess the non turbo ones it’s because of how the engine is possitioned and the vr4 because automatic transmissions in those times wheren’t as good as modern automatic ones
I can get a 1992 3000GT, VR4 Turbo, 5 Speed, Are these cars Actually work buying to Daily Drive it ??
My base is. I cant say on the vr4 but the sohc base is one of the most reliable cars ever made lol
@@PeaJayYt What's some things I should look out for if I actually do go check it out ??
I had a 98 I got from Ohio and I was hit by a guy high on heroin and it was totaled 😢. I had a 93 and the 98 the 93 for some reason was faster than the 98. And I love the 98 look better too for the same reason.
My first was a 92 3000gt. Just bought a 95 that will get a 4g63 with e36 bmw trans and rear diff. This car should have alwats been rear wheel and i plan to make it so.
if you love your car it doesn't matter what it is
Awesome car, this is my favourite car
Hey man idk if you’re gonna see this but I just wanna know how tall you are? How do you fit in it?
6' tall and I'm very comfortable in the chassis
Fellow West Virginia here to. Just found posted on a local facebook page
Bd Brannon thanks for the follow buddy!
Enjoy your dream come true my man that's what it's all about
How expensive is insurance
I'm 36 so it was like 22 a month lol
Nice video, I like the car but the rims do look a bit odd lol.. cool video, thumbs up
XuleGua absolutely. The car came with those and as soon as winter is over I'm going to put a new set on and use these as a winter set. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy
Cool, post a video on the new rims when you switch them.. I bet it'll look stunning with the right rims.
I want a 3000gt vr4 but I'm scared parts will be hard to find
They're more available than you realize. I'll be picking one up soon
@@amkrill3129 Very easy. Plenty of buy and sale groups on FB
hi man ...my dream also came true! i got me a Mitsubishi Sigma, it hase the same engine but without turbos
Dude that's awesome!
Working on trading for a 1994 GT. I see you have a DJI Phantom. I have a P1.
Please watch some detailing videos so you don’t destroy your car with that horrible miserable brush at the car wash. I’m just a concerned detailer that loves theses car. With a little work it could look really great. Thanks
That looks like chief logan
Sterling Archer yes sir!
Carbon_ Flash_P heck yea, i live up 44 near monaville. I drive a miata and im trying to fix it up but cant find the right ppl to work on it. U know anybody local worth trusting?

FINGERS.....FINGERS......wtf dude change the song
I had a chance to get a 3000gt instead got a Accord ;(
I dont think I could get rid of my GT now that I've owned it for awhile
Why I choose to daily a 3000gt?
Is it because you like spending money on repairs every 500 miles?
Literally the only thing I've had to do is tires and an oil change
Mitsubishi 3000GT TwinTurbo I literally have now only.put tires on and an oil change lol
