Good stuff! How you guys handle artillery fire missions in DCS? I've been wanting to experiment some sort of coordination with CAS flights but the user interface and targeting requires a lot of micromanaging. Any tips? Kimi from the 476th.
Hello and thanks! Depending mostly on the situation I suppose. For some scenarios the artillery can be set to "semi automatic" with mission editor triggers and messages notifying the JTAC (human JTAC) when it is about to fire and when it's done firing. If the human JTAC is able to multi-task then of course he can give fire-missions to the battery by himself whenever needed. Best way is to have a human GFC operating together with the JTAC and he can manage the artillery while moving around his ground units. IMO this way is the most immersive and a lot of fun and I try to do it whenever signups for a mission permit it. As for MaxOrd data - I've been playing with it a bit and have some rough figures of MaxOrd for a few types of artillery types we have in our missions. Let me know if it might be of any help for you. Cheers, Assaf.
