Saw them preform this live in Dallas when I was like 13. 10x more power in his voice then if you could imagine. I believe it was the projekt revolution tour. I hate he’s gone, sadly Chester and Cornell were my favorite artists and now they’re both gone

Chester said he would have such headaches after scream singing like that. You should see his first band Grey Daze live performances. They made 2 albums. Chester was 15-21 (?) In the band then went to audition for LP. Grey Daze was going to do a reunion in 2017. Chester called up his old bandmates. They started in 2017 but never finished due to what happened. So Sean Dowell, Chester's friend an former bandmate in Grey Daze, put it aside for almost yr then starting thinking that Chester would want them to go ahead with project of remastering their old songs. So he started an asked alot of Chesters friends, Korn Guitarist Brian Head Welch, an other musicians to play on one of the songs an help. They redid music around Chesters original vocals. So some songs are him fr maybe 17-18- 21 yrs old. Amazing. Its like grudge but like Nirvana or Nine Inch Nails, he sounds like Layne Staley or Scott Weiland fr STP, Edie Vedder all in one but diff yet. They remastered songs an putting album out called Amends in April. 2 songs released early. " Whats in The Eye" an " Sickness". Its baby Chester. Clear vocals but gritty an you can tell he has a twang on his words which sounds even better. When he got to LP im sure "someone" made him chg his pronouncements of words to fit LP style an scream more "harder Chester, harder" resulting in the headaches an Im sure vocal cord damage eventually. But we also age too, an dont sound like a 18 yr old anymore! Its worth lookin at! An there's Depeche Mode. 80/90's band. Electronic band. 4 members. Still together singing in their middle 50's. Long history. Dave Gahan lead singer. Sex symbol big time bavk in 80/90's. He had hard time after they blew up every where an got on herion fr 92 -96. But got sober in 1997 an still sober. Look into it. You could 80's day! Or 90's day!
who is "someone" and why would they make Chester change his pronouncements of the words just to fit LP style?
@@binxandduke obviously you need to go back an listen to Grey Daze esp live. He had diff way of singing back then. Pronouncement of whatever word he wanted to sound diff. That is gone on LP music. Totally can see a diff.

This song is nothing to do with Don Gilmore. LP didn't work with him after Meteora. Qwerty was written 3 days before leaving to small tour in Japan (only four shows) back in 2006. Lyrics was finished on the flight to Japan by Mike and Chester. A reworked studio version (with changes recommended by Rick Rubin) was released on LP Underground 6.
I was actually confused when he said that (40 seconds into the video) so I had to check comment section below to find out if someone knows better :)

You should take the time to watch Linkin Parks 3 hour superemotional tribute concert to Chester. Bunch of awesome guests artists singing Chesters parts, but not a single one of them can come even close to what Chester achieved with his voice. That's when you truly realise how strong his voice was.

The, in my opinion (Totally not because LP and Chester are my fav all time PERIOD) the most powerful screamer out there. The pain he bottled up came out during the best of his screams, sharing his pain with the fans to help his fans more than himself, to get us through hard times. Then the very next lyric be calm and have a beautiful voice its literally insane. LP and chester helped me through depression and still does now. Love seeing reactions to his screams, you can tell the level his voice got to when he screamed the last line, just incredible.
