They seemed more interested in telling crap jokes and fake cackling. Was good when they finally shutup and started paying more attention. Really good video none the less.
Matt proved once again to be a true craftsman even with the crappy banter going on which was really irritating to listen to. I felt like jumping in and saying "Shush yr Mush"...idiots.
Beautiful piece. I enjoyed watching a masterpotter at work. Too bad I could not hear his comments. I was forced to mute the audio and begin the video at the start. The foolish people added nothing to this. The Zen of watching this must be done in silence. I admire the extreme concentration and patience shown. Nice to see such a craftsman who is younger and attractive, as it seems most masters are geezerly.
must be difficult when you're not working in your own environment MATT? timing of different aspects can be a challenge for you. You did a great job of this vase even so. Thanks for sharing.
How long have you been throwing on the wheel? Watching you work on this piece, makes me think of the times I was on a ceramics class and now I want to have my own studio to make pieces as a hobby and double up for my boyfriends wood turning.
+Nick Doe Normally a piece of this size would be made in one go, this was just to demonstrate the joining process. You can achieve much larger pots if they are joined in sections.
This was as part of a workshop where I was asked to demonstrate how I would join two pieces together. Normally I would only use joining for bigger vases. Thanks :)
Doesn't seem as though they were truly interested in what he had to teach as much as they were their own voices. Gawd why do people have to do that? Cackle cackle cackle - Geez. He is a fantastic potter - they had a great opportunity to learn if they would have just shut up and observed.
I always wanted to learn how to make pots. I'm glad this channel was recommended to my UA-cam. One of the best in pottery making.
Matt, what an awesome throwing demo, thank you so much. The audience could have paid you a lot more respect for you whilst doing this. Thank you.
Thank you for watching :) glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Matt, very good demo. Magnificent throwing Matt; excellent.
I've learnt lot from your videos Matt and I than you for that.
Applause.
Beautiful artistry.
When I was at college, I ran away from the wheel like a thief...now I regret. Pinch, coil, slab,...the wheel is more fascinating.

Really good video none the less.
and cell phones should be turned off too, just left on for taking pictures.
I quite agree, people can be so rude if you ask me.

seriously thinking about pottery. I wish we had workshops in our country

About 10 or 11 years :)
Gerry nice, hopefully I can accomplish one soon
A beautiful piece - so what would have been different if you had done this as one piece? Is there a benefit to doing it as two?

Fascinante seu trabalho. Sempre tive vontade de aprender ... Mas nunca tive oportunidade. Maravilhoso.
Can’t believe that the people have obviously paid to watch him work and they so rudely talk while he is demonstrating his skills
Agreed. Terrible audience. 🙄
Great video Matt, but your audience was disrespectful. Keep us informed with your work. It’s fantastic. Thank you.
So do u torch it to dry it some, removing water? Does it make it sturdier?
Yes :) it dries it out and makes it a bit sturdier to work with
Amo essa arte
Is torching the clay necessary? Do you torch most of your works or is there a certain size that you have to?
Hannah Kingsbury it just saves time in the drying process
Hannah Kingsbury torching the clay also gives it more strength, it stiffs it up as well.
So, He uses the torsch instead of cooking the pieces?
No, the torch dries out the piece while it's being worked on to give it additional stability. All pieces are still fired in the kiln.
@@Matthornepottery Thank you Matt. Cheers from Mexico
an excelent job!
Muy bueno...!!! Necesito subtítulos en español porfavor...
No necesita subtititulos. Mas del tiempo el gente de la audiencia estan hablando tan mucho. Es mejor a mirar al maestro. Lo siento por mi mal español.
@@andrewdutton5277 si si...es verdad.... gracias!!!
What exactly does the torching do?
Ok, it helps to reafd through teh eother comments first. never mind. Awesome skill.
Why do you torch it?
It helps to dry out the clay a bit, to stop it collapsing on itself :)
Amazing hands
Wonderfull..
IMPRESSIVE !!!!!!!!!
Maravilhoso.
the music at the end was a bit loud
If only they had not been there.
after it was assembled, i kept thinking why not just try making it as one piece...i like your taste in vase shape
This was as part of a workshop where I was asked to demonstrate how I would join two pieces together. Normally I would only use joining for bigger vases. Thanks :)
u r my inspiration
Isn't whit clay more expensive then brown clay? At least thats what I remember from school...
It looks like he's throwing with porcelain and that does tend to be more expensive than other clay bodies.
omg you are so cute lovely and hardworking........
you are very talented..😘😘😘😘😘😘love your work alot....
코가 너무 멋잇게 생겻어요😀
Awesome!! The audience could have been more respect full............
What's up with the people laughing at every statement I mean come on every time somebody says something the whole crowd's going to laugh.

what kind of clay is this?
This was a mix of porcelain and stoneware from Highwater Clays. Normally I use Audrey Blackman Porcelain :)
