    I always wanted to learn how to make pots. I'm glad this channel was recommended to my UA-cam. One of the best in pottery making.

    Beautiful artistry.
    When I was at college, I ran away from the wheel like a thief...now I regret. Pinch, coil, slab,...the wheel is more fascinating.

    They seemed more interested in telling crap jokes and fake cackling. Was good when they finally shutup and started paying more attention.
    Really good video none the less.

    Matt proved once again to be a true craftsman even with the crappy banter going on which was really irritating to listen to.
    I felt like jumping in and saying "Shush yr Mush"...idiots.

    Beautiful piece. I enjoyed watching a masterpotter at work. Too bad I could not hear his comments. I was forced to mute the audio and begin the video at the start. The foolish people added nothing to this. The Zen of watching this must be done in silence. I admire the extreme concentration and patience shown. Nice to see such a craftsman who is younger and attractive, as it seems most masters are geezerly.

      This was as part of a workshop where I was asked to demonstrate how I would join two pieces together. Normally I would only use joining for bigger vases. Thanks :)

  • @CoxJoxSox
    @CoxJoxSox 8 років тому +1

    A beautiful piece - so what would have been different if you had done this as one piece? Is there a benefit to doing it as two?

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  8 років тому +4

      +Nick Doe Normally a piece of this size would be made in one go, this was just to demonstrate the joining process. You can achieve much larger pots if they are joined in sections.

    Doesn't seem as though they were truly interested in what he had to teach as much as they were their own voices. Gawd why do people have to do that? Cackle cackle cackle - Geez.
    He is a fantastic potter - they had a great opportunity to learn if they would have just shut up and observed.

    So, He uses the torsch instead of cooking the pieces?

    • @Matthornepottery
      @Matthornepottery  2 роки тому

      No, the torch dries out the piece while it's being worked on to give it additional stability. All pieces are still fired in the kiln.
