Excellent as always, learned so much. Ta. Couple of questions if you can help? We’re looking at fitting the beneath heat slimboard retro fit underfloor heating system you cover in another video. Three zones and a forth zone for upstairs with conventional rads. We’re planning on installing Nest thermostats for the full system, so four in total. Boiler is Ideal Logic Plus. - Could you recommend a good quality Wiring Centre compatible with the Nest thermostats? - would you fit a dedicated fused spur power supply for the wiring centre or take supply direct from boiler? - would you recommend setting up in Opentherm? Or is there no advantage to this? Many thanks.
Get a ferrule crimper and some bootlace crimps for those stranded core cables mate. Would save them from getting destroyed when you tighten the terminals and gives better contact.
Hi Allan thanks for making these videos really are well worth watching just one question which grade wire are you using to wire in units size wise and does it have to be heat proof ect thanks
Hi Allen, I'm trying to do almost this exact setup at the moment - right now my Baxi boiler is connected to my Heat Link how you show it toward the end of this video. My question is - I'm adding an OMNIE underfloor heating wiring centre to this set up. How do I connect both the UFH wiring centre and the combi boiler to the heat link at the same time, so that when the Nest calls for heat, the boiler and UFH pump both activate at the same time? Thanks for your brilliant videos from a fellow Yorkshireman!
Hi Allen, I'm new in this trade. I was watching your all videos since I was in training and now I'm qualified. Honestly all of your videos are great and worth watching. I can't remember i missed one. I got 2 questions about this product if I want to wire from fuse spare, do I have to use 5 core cables to the combi boiler from back plate? And if I had to install the display away from boiler where no socket available then do I have do hard wiring?
Hi Allen, first of all great video!, clear explanation and to be honest the only one I can find for helping me installing the Nest heat link with the UFH. But I still have one question: my Wiring Center connects with 24v thermostats. So can I stil use the same wiring as you did? L(24v) and the Switch Live? So I don’t do anything with the old N(24v)?
Thanks for this. I was wondering how to to go about having a couple of tado wireless thermostats controlling 2 UFH zones and this has cleared that up. Am I right to assume that if my whole house(other than a towel rad) is on smart TRVs, I won't need a zone valve to split the ufh and the rad systems? Thanks again

Beautiful, straight forward video. For a combi boiler, is there any benefit besides looking nicer to not do a nest thermostat e? I only need central heating control not hot water control as the taps/shower calls for the hot water.
Hi Allen. Great work as usual. I bought a Baxi 800 which I think you’ve said is a good choice. Our installer got the boiler up and our electrician connected the nest but we’re not sure about the best setup in terms of opentherm. Do we need to use that standard with the Baxi? And we have the nest on a stand and not directly wired. Is that ok? Does Openthem need it to be directly wired? Sorry for that questions. And don’t worry, I won’t be touching any wires. I’ll leave that to a professional.
so the thermostat cable is only for power? It receives on/off signal wirelessly from heatlink? So if your replacing a wireless thermostat you would need the nest somewhere with a 240'v socket close by so you can use the nest usb adapter to get that power?
Kaiser09 This is my dilemma also? It ends up being a really expensive job, especially when each Nest costs £200.00. I have 6 Underfloor heating zones to connect.
you are a LEGEND. Allen, I had a question. I have my thermostats connected to the wiring centre and now I need help on connecting my wiring centre to the combi boiler. Do I simply connect the "heat enable" port to the "link" port on the boiler terminals? Is it basically the same as connecting a thermostat directly to the combi boiler?
Good video thank you but would be good for you to show a video showing USB low voltage adapter connection in a Hallway for example this is how I have mine and explain that Nest Thermostat speaks to Heatlink using a thread wireless network & is not dependant on home WiFi, one of the great advantages of Nest is that schedule is maintained should internet or router go down. Also that pressing button on Heatlink will switch on boiler should you loose connection to the thermostat.
Hi there, do you know how the nest thermostat can we wired in if we don't have pre-existing thermostat in the home so no previous wiring to heatlink. It would be a large job running wires to the heatlink from inside the home and really don't want to use the base and charger for a cleaner install.
Excellent video, just one question on a gravity fed system, I've installed my nest - but I didn't connect the "heat satisfied" link - everything works great, but this has worried me - what's you thoughts?
Hi M8 i got my combi boiler connected to nest heat link now works absolutely fine , but water underfloor heating in kitchen connected to an old thermostat which is not working so i want to connect the underfloor heating from kitchen to this existing next heat link and controll using existing nest thermostat ,do i need a wiring centre to do that or can i connect directly to heatlink to get it working ? if you can shed some light on this it would be much appreciated

Great Vid. I'm pretty pissed off I sold my two nests when moving into my newbuild with underfloor heating as my plumber told me "doesn't work with nest". Now I'm stuck with dumb €15 heatmiser stats.
I'm trying to to put in a nest to a combi boiler but not sure I'm connecting thr heatlink correctly we have an old timer and Holywell thermostat at the mo and was told to take off the timer and use those wire to connect the heatlink but wen connected it clicks but doesn't turn on the boiler so not sure we're putting the wire into Courcy place on the heatlink? Can you help?
Just one question Allan, can these best thermostats be connected too a Infrared Panel Heater. I believe the 600 Watt panel I have is 2.6 amps. Cheers for the video 🍻
Great video, but you should be connecting cpc (earth) through, its a big no no having live cables without continuity of cpc in them ⚡️ this is the difference between an rcd tripping and a short circuit
I have a ideal combi boiler with the nest learning stat that’s wired to terminals 2 and 3 for volt free switching in the heatlink but I’m asking anyone who knows if it’s possible to use the 5 and 6 terminals that has the live link to make them 240v and still keep 2 and 3 volt free. It’s just that I’ve added ufh and need switched power for the pump. I haven’t installed a zone valve as I only want one stat. Is this possible without blowing the unit?
Sure t1 t2 could be wired from the main unit however what stops you from providing your own power ( not 240v ) supply to the wireless nest unit in the wall elsewhere without running t1 t2 between each other. Of course this means a 240v to 12v? and that will cost you a little bit and it will likely require a fused single gang near by? I can see this all being slightly messy I guess but I’m certainly not advocating you hide the usb power adapter in the wall of course , since I bet someone will do that and could Overheat? What do you think about providing power to the wireless unit like I propose .
I have seen an alarm guy connect it to his alarm. I would advise wiring directly to heat link, If not use the power supply from Nest adapter and plug it in. Thanks.
How would you wire multiple stats for each underfloor heating zone, would you need a stat & heatlink per zone & take 230v from each zonein ufh wiring centre to each heatlink or is there a way to use 1 heatlink with multiple stats??? Any insight would be much appreciated
Hi! I have underfloor heating and my gen2 nest only turns on heat on the boiler, but the pump that should move water, stays off. The pump only turns on if I use the button on the heatlink for manual heating. How to fix this, so the pump would start when I use the wireless thermostat?
