    When I started quilting, I added a lot of embroidery to my first class projects. I was reprimanded! Still, I love them very much. We did a simple strip quilt, mine is adobe colors. I decided to add colorful symbolic New Mexico lizards! Of course I added lizard housing all around my raised garden beds and my walls have lizards.😊 I've never done stumpwork, thank you. I need an advanced stitch book.

    For bullion knots, use a milliners needle. They are super easy that way, as the eye is the same size as the shaft. When you use a milliners needle, they go as fast as making a French knot.

    Thank you for these demos. I’ve been struggling over paper directions for some of these stitches and seeing you actually do them makes it so much clearer!

    Discovered Stumpwork yesterday, so just looking at videos. This has some wonderful music to listen to along with a nice clear visual of the stitchwork.

      Aw you're so sweet! It all just comes with practice, but believe me some of these stitches (*cough cough* picots) still aren't easy for me!

      @gettheetothestitchery You may have an easier time with a picot stitch if you weave between an odd number of strands. I noticed you chose 4 strands to work with in this video, which is certainly unique and you satisfies my curiosity of what happens if you break the "rule" of odd number strands :)

      @@gettheetothestitchery I have read somewhere that the needle must be the same size in the body and the eye. Maybe that was the problem

    Holy hell...if these are intermediate, I can't FATHOM what "difficult" will look like!

    • @gettheetothestitchery
      @gettheetothestitchery  2 роки тому

      Haha these are definitely on the difficult side of intermediate, but the good news is that, in my opinion at least, there are really no advanced stitches! I categorize most everything as either beginner or intermediate because you don't need to be an expert to master them.

    How many of theses are “Historically” significant? Is there a special meaning behind some? Pertaining to like a “Underground Railroad” hidden meaning, map like ideas...

    • @gettheetothestitchery
      @gettheetothestitchery  2 роки тому

      As far as I know, there are no stitches that have specific historic meaning or significance. Hidden meanings in embroidery usually had more to do with the symbols or designs that were stitched, rather than the specific stitch used to create them.
