Hawaiian Axis Deer Hunting with Jordan Budd
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лют 2024
- Jordan Budd travels to the Hawaiian Island of Lanai to hunt axis deer. Axis deer were introduced here in 1860 and have become a nuisance to the native landscape of Lanai. With the overabundant numbers and mellow tropical terrain to explore, Jordan doesn't waste any time to bag her first spotted deer. There are many pros and cons to having axis deer on the island, but in Hawaii nothing goes to waste. Presented @sigsauerinc

That dude is a straight up artist with the knife and skinning. Never seen someone make it look that smooth and easy.
He is very skilled to leave no flesh behind without piercing the hide
No fleshing needed!
Only processor on the island. Just gonna guess some numbers, If he's averaging 3 a day, over 10 years, that's 10,950 deer...
Jordan’s low key style is refreshing. Professional, thankful, and focused.
The most impressive part of the whole episode is the knife work by that processor. Kids got skills.
Good job Jordan. Whoever got to edit this one did a fantastic job! In less than 20 minutes we got a history lesson, a biology lesson, watched two good kills, did some skinning, and still got time for a plate.
You guys loaded up a 20 minute show to perfection.
Props.
It's good to see Jordan getting more comfortable on camera. The first couple videos she was she was way too quiet for all the great hunting knowledge she has.
I noticed that too
I could imagine how tough that would be to get used to. I think about it often... knowing every word you say will be critiqued on monday by some internet trolls. That would be tough as hell. props to her and the Meateater guys!
I feel like she’s more of a small group oriented person, or at least has been in the past. She’s incredibly competent and intelligent but just doesn’t generally feel the need to talk about it a whole lot so it’s an adjustment for her. She’s a great addition to the cast of characters on meateater.
Jordon needs to become a permanent staple on MeatEater !
Need some more Budd hunts! Great Episode.
Love Jordan’s journey on MeatEater. Fresh face and perspective! She’s a natural hunter and super intuitive to new surroundings ❤ great call Steve!!
Top notch skinning skills!
I really admire Jordan's quiet confidence and skill. I think she'll make a great host for Meateater.
LOVED this episode!!! Please let Jordan have a regular show!!
Never once saw Steven Rinella haul a deer out on his shoulders. Jordan rocks.
Well, how many have you seen him pack out on his back in game bags?? Dozens
I ain't doing that where I hunt, to many ticks.
@@rediron44Awww what's wrong cupcake, did I strike a nerve? There, there, it's ok.
Nice, Props to Edward as well on his skinning skills!
Thats the cleanest skinning job I've ever seen what a professional that guy is
A very enjoyable video. Nice person, good hunter and low key presentation. I would watch anything in which she is featured. So much better than the other videos (not Meater) where hyper faux he men must accompany any kill shot with Tarzan yodels and chest thumps. Please continue featuring her in more videos.
Jordan is a great addition to the meateater crew. It's refreshing she is not so polished and slick. Those sure are pretty little deer.
Adding one more great addition to the already amazing Meat Eater! Jordan’s awesome. Look forward to more videos.
Nice one! Jordan is such a dialed hunter. Very efficient. Absolutely gorgeous country to hunt! Thanks to the Meateater team.
great to see another show w Jordan!
Love Jordan episodes, such an interesting person with an amazing knowledge of hunting.
I love how I learn so much more then just hunting:) great episode!! Jordan seems to fit right in!!
Big fan of Jordan's videos, keep 'em coming!
Great job Jordan, glad to see Meateater and Steve are aware of your potential and giving you some opportunities. Great show awesome you had some good luck and managed to get your goals, beautiful animals and the hides look amazing - worth the shoulder carry I'm sure. Thanks again for some great content. All the best from a sunny Scotland, regards Ian
Cool video, please keep them coming! ❤️
Cool episode. Very unique hunting experience there. Really liked this episode
Hands down my favorite place on earth to hunt. A bit of a trip back in time.
Man I love watching these series. Let's go 😊
Great video Jordan, really enjoy your content very knowledgeable and such good information
Jordans best stuff yet.
Hope this will be a Full time show, she's good, and we need more content,
Great video Jordan!
Right on! Mahalo for sharing!
Looked like a great time!!!!
Excellent job, Jordan 😊
Great job Jordan
Cool hunt. One of my favorite places I have hunted.😊
I would seriously love it if Jordan had her own series!
Great one Jordan!!
Super cool spot to punch deer, And Jordan is pretty dang cool at what she does too!
Great job. Awesome video.
Aloha and enjoy - Remi Warren been hunting for years and love the deer - pigs and goats 🐐
Enjoyed the video!
I enjoyed this. Jordan has a lot of potential for what she can bring to the ME table. *this made the morning better, I’m in Montana, was going to go hunting this morning, but falling snow and icy roads made me think twice.
Oh man, I see that gen 3 Primos Trigger Stick. I've got the short variant for my ground-game and im thinking of getting the scabbard for it to attach to my pack. I LOVE those triggersticks.
Great content 👌
Jordan has to be up there with one of the top shooters at meateater, she looks so comfortable behind the trigger!!!!
Glad she’s becoming a regular.
Glad to see you've brought a female on to the Chanel! 👍
Great job Jordan! Your tone and cadence are so much like Cal, it's almost like you are related.
Congrats on a great hunt! What rifle did you use? It is a piece of art!
Love this hunt! Hope to do it soon! What rifle is that?
What cal did you use? Thanks lovely video really appreciate it 😊
Awesome adventure Jordan! Thanks for sharing! What does something like that cost 💲 for your average Joe?
The Hawaiian outdoorsfolk don’t play around! I would have never known of this subculture without meateater.
Man, that is some clean skinning work. It’s great to see someone take their time rather than the 10 minute hack jobs.
She is a true hunter. I knew after Steve went on a hunt with her as a guide and she said, "We sell the experience, not the animal" he would offer her a MeatEater position. So what would the additional ingredient be for a Texas Axis? (You couldn't do pineapple)
@@BG-bx4ey referring more to they're are not known for it like Hawaii.
Great Hunt, Jordan's a nice addition to the crew.
What is her rifle?
Is it one of those new Weatherby modular rifles?
I believe it’s a Sig Sauer cross Magnum
Sig rifle and Sig scope? Is the Meateater/Vortex contract over?
Bring back the Gear Talk podcast! Jordan has so much good knowledge about gear
What gun is that?
Not much drama or suspense but good overall. The skinning was impressive.
Jordan is cold blooded. I don't know many hunters with that ability to just flop down and crack off that good of a shot at what 270ish yards?
Can we get the skinner on again lol?
Last year on Lana’i it was a total zoo. Once this video gets out, it will look like NYC. God help the locals of Lana’i 🙏🏼
What rifle is that? Make and Caliber please?
Puts the commercial Hannah Barron to shame !
Glad she took a doe. We see so many talk about how invasive the deer are and then they only take the big bucks. 👍
@meateater can we get a build list for her rifle?
That rifle is sweet
Hay Jordan,, you need to tell Steve that you want to go with him to a big adventure Alaskan hunt
What’s kind of rifle is she using??
What gun is this?
.308 or 6.5?
Nice rifle.
Holy cow that butcher!
🤙🏾🌋🤙🏾
Wonderful.
And yet, despite the axis deer being this abundant on Lanai and them being more of a pest that needs to be mowed down than a species that needs conservation and constant management (culling predators, supplementary feed etc), they are charging 5 k for a one buck / one doe 2-day trophy hunt (all other costs excluded). I guess my dream will have to wait a bit :))
nice rifle madame ! 😎
Her rifle a custom sig cross?!
Question do they not have hogs as a predator? I know it wouldn't make a huge impact but trying to think of a way to manage the crazy numbers.
No pigs on lanai.
Hogs are just as much of a problem as the deer, arguably even worse because they outright eat native species and the plants they feed on
Jordan, while clearly a good hunter, is the antithesis of a charismatic host.
Yeah, but I kind of live the understated personality on camera. It's a nice alternative to the sometimes...eccentric... hosts of other shows.
should have taken that second doe...but i bet its a tag system...
Im surprised they let the guide wear Kuiu gear, they usually put everyone in first lite gear.
Jordan is basically a female Cal. This is meant as a compliment. Very similar style and storytelling.
Awesome video just not the same as a video with Steve talking
I like how you had the guide gut the deer for you in the field and didn't give him credit.
A lot of work needs to be done, to improve public access to this resource especially on Maui.
Can you tell us about your gun?
I would love to do this hunt, but can’t afford to pay an outfitter. Sucks they have an invasive species and they monopolize the hunting to a few guides since there is little public land.
Ya, they complain there is too many deer but then limit access so that there will always be too many deer.
they've [Meateater] turned hunting into fly-fishing and golf - if you have to ask, ya'll aint got the dollars. Fckin shame
What is the rifle she used?
Looks like the sig cross
You need a sling on that rifle! Cool cross tho.
Dude what on earth is going on with trucks. 2:21.
Even if he’s abnormally short, that is absurd.
Tonka does make toddlers look that small! What are we doing!
Sounds like lamb
Must be private property, no orange
King Kamehameha died in 1819
There were more then one King Kamehameha bro! I live , hunt and am born and raised in Hawaii and hunt these islands all the time. April 4 this year heading there for rifle season.
I so much prefer how Meat Eater focuses on the spot and stalk way of hunting.. Watching hunting from a blind or stand on a feeder just does not appeal to me. Just my opinion and i know alot will disagree
I think it depends on what your goal is with hunting. My wife would be perfectly fine sitting in a blind or stand over bait, because she just wants to be able to put venison into the freezer. I'm more in it for the experience, getting out in nature and putting some miles on my boots. Luckily for me, in Cali we can't bait, so she's stuck doing it more my way. Unfortunately we have thus far been unable to bag a deer, but getting out there has been a victory for me.
And spot-and-stalk is definitely more fun to watch.
WHERE IS STEVE
Why the hell do hunting videos these days show the climax at the beginning of the video!!!! Stooop doing that lol!!!
shes richer than me shes a better hunter than me and she has a hotter girlfriend than me
The analysis of deer population growth can be applied to humans. There are too many people on this planet. It blows me away that people think we can continue to grow our population.
Do something about it then, since you wanna be a pedantic asshat.
