I have heard him talk about wanting more access to public land and private land through different programs. I by no means think Steve is perfect, but I think we as hunters could do a lot worse than having him as a representative.

What a question to ask two children and what a more amazing answer to get! A group of natives arrived and set up camp next to us. Everything was going okay until I was awoken in the middle of the night by a couple of people having an argument. One of the comments shouted was "the reason we're here is because we dont have anywhere else to go!" meaning living on a reserve in the bush in the middle of nowhere wasnt their choice it was their only option. Really hit home when I read your comment.
Steve is the antithesis of the caricature people make of hunters. He's so informed, caring, and honest, all the things people strive for. It's not about the trophy, the fame or ego but it's about appreciating nature and tradition. Regardless of what happens outside of your life, appreciate what you love to do and eat.

I like these two guides, a lot. They seem just matter of fact type guys and are putting the visitor on game. I'm also a huge fan of how the state has structured this hunt to provide capital for the locals and everything about the wildlife management helps the local community. I'd love to hunt one of these ox not only for the meat but for the hide and fur. I can only imagine the quality of wool that musk ox produce.
I'm so torn watching this show. I love Steve, I love the art, I love the community, I love the shared feast... yet there is intense beauty in these animals, oblivious to their fate, innocent. It's incredibly powerful. Those two worlds collide at such a velocity in the short pull of a trigger. Huge respect to the whole process.
I'll admit that the first time I bagged a turkey I felt conflicted. They are such beautiful birds. Their feathers change in opalescent colors from red to green in the sunlight depending on the angle you look at them. Watching and hearing the toms gobble, strut, and drum for hens in the spring is a joy. Shooting that tom while he was strutting for two hens was a pretty rude interruption to his and the hen's agenda. However, it changed the way I look at all the poultry and meat I eat. I've caught, killed, and eaten plenty of fish and crabs in my life, but this was a big bird; probably close to 20 pounds. I had to learn and work hard to fill that turkey tag. He was beautiful and majestic in his own right, and now he was dead. I had taken his life. I wanted him to know I was grateful and respected him; that taking his life wasn't a small or inconsequential thing to me. I hadn't ended his life because I was blood thirsty, a glutton, looking for a trophy, or trying to prove something to myself or others. This was about understanding and knowing how meat ends up on my plate, how for untold generations meat wasn't an everyday meal, and how my ancestors fed themselves, their family, and their community. Tonight I cooked that turkey's legs and thighs for my mom, dad, and my brother's family of four. That gobbler was delicious and it was a special occasion. I was glad to share him with my family. I didn't want to waste anything from him and for people to understand what it took for me to bring him to the table. I think if we want to try and help people improve their relationship with food, they need to raise it or hunt for it. That way we can appreciate and respect it.

Because of - "why you shoot this cute coyotes that fuck up 2-3 of your cows on a weekly basis" kind of people I can be wrong though. There's a lot of people that are so busy working and surviving, that they don't even have that much free time to watch this kind of videos, and get into it if they like it 🤷♂️

Now this is one of the cooler ones. Wooly musk ox is one of those animals you hear about and think "oh, must be something from the ice age" but then you find out how cool it is that not only are they still around, but the population is sustainable enough for a lottery hunt. Very cool animal, very cool hunt

This show has inspired me to pick up hunting. My sister and I are planning a simple hunt come fall on our parents property. And as excited as I am for the hunt and the meat. It's still sad when a big gorgeous animal goes down. But it's part of conservation and the circle of life.
Some of the best family times were with a big family dinner at my grandpas house. Boiled and frozen Tomcod, frozen dried salmon, seal oil, baked seal meat and all kinds of greens and frozen salmon and blue berries for desert.
I guess he was just that lucky to draw that tag huh! I live in New Mexico and cany draw Ibex or Oryx but these guys sure get these tag before me and I been putting in for 12 years!

I'm always amazed by these videos. Not only the hunt, but especially the cutting of the animals. That huge amount of meet which probably can feed a whole family for a year. Its just amazing.

Steve Rinella is definitely my “younger aged” hunting idol! Mr Whitetail Larry W will always hold dear. But I absolutely love the way he grew up that he always reminds us of, the will I’ll be starting to teach my 4 an 8 year old this rabbit an deer season!

I was up in a village in the Canadian Arctic called Gjoa Haven about 25 years ago. Had my fishing rod with me. Thought I would try fishing for Arctic Char. First cast I hooked onto what I was hoping was a char. Turned out to be a cod. Caught one on every single cast. I’ve never seen anything like it. Watching Steve catch all those cod brought the memories back. Thanks for a great video

Studying the anatomy of the animal you are hunting so you know where the most humane shot should be placed is absolutely classy (i know you have to know where to hit it, but some hunters I've seen shoot kinda all over the place)... what an amazing culture to experience as well

Great video. Those oxen are smaller than I realized. I would imagine one would learn a lot from hunting, butchering, and cooking with so many different folks. You would really get an interesting and very useful tool belt of knowledge from all that varied exposure.
This is a bucket lister for sure not so much the trophy but the people I think being with them makes up 3/4 of the hunt ! And those cod and seal oil yummy !

I've hunted musk ox both in Greenland and a Canada island. It got so cold in Greenland the guides were complaining about it. Great people and adventure.

I'm always amazed by these videos. Not only the hunt, but especially the cutting of the animals. That huge amount of meet which probably can feed a whole family for a year. Its just amazing.

Kinda reminds me of an interview I saw with an Australian Aboriginal where she was speaking her aboriginal language but also intermixed was some English words

Steve Rinella is definitely my “younger aged” hunting idol! Mr Whitetail Larry W will always hold dear. But I absolutely love the way he grew up that he always reminds us of, the will I’ll be starting to teach my 4 an 8 year old this rabbit an deer season!

I was up in a village in the Canadian Arctic called Gjoa Haven about 25 years ago. Had my fishing rod with me. Thought I would try fishing for Arctic Char. First cast I hooked onto what I was hoping was a char. Turned out to be a cod. Caught one on every single cast. I’ve never seen anything like it. Watching Steve catch all those cod brought the memories back. Thanks for a great video

Studying the anatomy of the animal you are hunting so you know where the most humane shot should be placed is absolutely classy (i know you have to know where to hit it, but some hunters I've seen shoot kinda all over the place)... what an amazing culture to experience as well

Great video. Those oxen are smaller than I realized. I would imagine one would learn a lot from hunting, butchering, and cooking with so many different folks. You would really get an interesting and very useful tool belt of knowledge from all that varied exposure.
This is a bucket lister for sure not so much the trophy but the people I think being with them makes up 3/4 of the hunt ! And those cod and seal oil yummy !

Don’t know I’ve ever been this jealous of another hunter. I love the stark landscape and unforgiving lifestyle they live in. Obviously only for a hunting vacation! Texas has most of what I need.

This muskox has got to be the most beautiful animal I've ever seen.
I've hunted musk ox both in Greenland and a Canada island. It got so cold in Greenland the guides were complaining about it. Great people and adventure.
