    As you may notice, there is quite a difference in performance (~0.5 sec for 0-100 and ~0.4 sec for the 1/4 mile) between this car and the pre-LCI model i tested a year and a half ago. I'd say this is mainly due to the weather conditions. The 2022 model was tested in summer-dry conditions, whereas this model was tested in a very humid environment (although the asphalt was not wet, it was rather damp) and on winter tires. As i checked the recorded data for both cars, the fact that initial traction was the reason for this difference became more clear. The summer-tested model managed sub-4 sec times for 0-60, whereas this model did 4.2 - 4.3 sec for this test. Moreover, the previous model managed to experience a 0.6G maximum acceleration (which is usually recorded up until 40 - 50 km/h), while this car only got up to 0.51G max. Anyway, despite all this, i think that the factory claim of 8.6 sec to 100 is a liiittle bit ambitious.
    Thanks for watching!

      E diferenta mare si intre masuratorile din roll. Deci nu is rotile de iarna sau aderenta de vina.
      Umiditatea o fi mai mare, dar si temperatura scazuta a aerului e benefica pentru motoarele turbo mai ales.

      @@Eugen-Eunde sunt diferentele alea mari la roll? La 60-100 sunt ambele acolo, iar la 80-120 sunt 2 zecimi, care se incadreaza in "marja de eroare", sa zic asa. Am avut si cu modelul pre-LCI run-uri de 6.5 - 6.6 pt 80-120. Iar asta cu temperatura mai scazuta...teoretic asa e, dar practic diferentele sunt f mici. Plus ca eventuala performanta ceva mai buna a motorului e contra-balansata de faptul ca aerul mai rece e mai dens, deci opune rezistenta mai mare la inaintare. Si apoi mai adauga si particulele de apa din aer. Se poate dezbate mult, dar raman la parerea ca diferenta o face aderenta la plecare.

      yes, the factory claim looks a little bit strange for such weight and power. Also it looks like it shifts from the 1-st to the 2-nd gear quite early: bellow 5500 rpm, whereas for the next gears it goes up to 6000 rpm, even a little bit more.

      @@valeriymanin5779 i think i've seen this rather early shift from 1st to 2nd but with next shifts a lot closer to redline in other cars too 🤔 don't know what's up with that... maybe some sort of hardware protection

    👍It is also 25 kg. heavier !

      @AcceleratingCars  11 місяців тому +4

      Yes, you are right, but that's not much. It's like having a 7 y.o. kid in the car or something. 25kg is just a 1.6% increase. I'm not saying it's nothing, but it's not gonna have a meaningful impact on performance.

    V-as fi foarte recunoscator daca ati putea face un astfel de test al versiunii 320i. Mă întreb dacă are sens să plătești suplimentar pentru o versiune mai puternică. Deși este de fapt același motor, unii spun că nu este atât de ușor să cip în aceste modele noi... Sper că traducătorul a făcut trucul. :)

      Hi, Jarek! Thanks for taking the time to write and also translate this message, i understand what you're asking 🙂 I will see if i can get a 320i. Until then, you can watch this video i posted last year (i think) ua-cam.com/video/X2xwqaqxGrA/v-deo.html . It's with a RWD 520i. Unfortunately i can't give you technical details about the engine in these 2 versions (18i vs 20i). They are clearly the 4-cyl B48 engine, but i don`t know if they have the same hardware and the 18i is just a software "detuned" version of the 20i, or if they have some internal differences. I found that the 156hp version has B48B20 code, whereas the 184hp one is B48B20M0. Regarding performance, the 18i engine is not enough, in my opinion. If i had this car, i would definetely give it at least a stage 1. IF the 18i is just a detuned version of the 20i, while sharing internals, i would get this (because of the lower price, obviously) and stage 1 it. If it's not, then i would get the 20i and give it a stage 1 as well 😀 I have seen from the guy that has tuned my cars over the years that these BMW 2L petrol engines have big power reserves, meaning that they can easily and safely make 250hp and 400Nm. All the best!

      @@AcceleratingCars A friend has a 420i (2016 -B48) after modifications to the engine and exhaust system, it now generates 315 km. I'm not worried about the durability of the engine after increasing the power in the 318i, but apparently there are some factory locks that prevent the power from being increased as easily as before. Regards.

      @AcceleratingCars  11 місяців тому

      @@jarekkrysia7603 i have seen this engine go up to 280hp and 430Nm just from the engine tune. I'm sure mods to the exhaust system will further improve on power, so i think that 315hp is a bit extreme for this engine but achievable. And regarding the factory locks, i`m sure that a truly competent and smart tuner will be able to get past them 🙂

    Why are you always accelerating with the engine cold?

    • @AcceleratingCars
      @AcceleratingCars  2 місяці тому

      Because i wanna have at least a small contribution in ruining those engines. C'mon man, what cold engines are you talking about? And how can you tell from this video? I have at least a 15-20 min drive from home/work/car pickup spot to where i film so no engine is ever cold.

      @@AcceleratingCars I just noticed the amount of steam coming out of the exhaust, this is common in most of your videos
      Usually you’ve driven a considerable distance the exhaust pipe has been warmed up so there is no steam created from the contact of the metal pipes with the hot exhaust air
      I was just wondering

      @@aidan1585 Mmm...i think it has more to do with the atmospheric conditions (temp, humidity) becasuse as i said, the car/engine has plenty of time to warm up until i get to my filming spot.
