  • Continuing our road trip around Northumberland we head to Holy Island on the wettest day of the trip so far. Before that though, Keith heads out in the dark, with a knife!
The causeway to Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, is a tidal road connecting the island to the mainland of Northumberland, England. It spans about 3 miles (4.8 km) and is submerged by the North Sea during high tide, making it accessible only at certain times. The landscape surrounding the causeway is characterized by vast expanses of sand and mud flats, with the historic Lindisfarne Castle perched atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea.

It never ceases to amaze me that some folk think that they are bigger, better and/or stronger than Mother Nature. Crossing a causeway covered in water is simply begging for disaster. I lived in Arizona for a time. When the monsoon season would hit the desert, certain roads could be flooded with several feet of water. You can't believe how many drivers would try to ford the high waters. And almost always, they would be stranded. I am loving this video series. I really feel the itch to fly over and do a wee bit of exploring myself. I've spot a bad news. There's really no good way to say it. Nicole and I are no longer a couple. The 29 year age difference started to negatively effect her. That, and she has been questioning her sexuality. Two things that I am unable to addres. So, I will love her in my heart and think about MY new adventures. I'm not saying that it doesn't hurt, but these were the absolute best 10 years of my life. No regrets! So, who knows, you gents may see me one day in the future. Have a grand weekend and week. I'll see you two next Friday. Cheers my friends!

Well Micky. What can we say. We are so sorry to?hear about you and Nicole. You always sounded so happy with her. No consolation for you but Keith's wife questioned her sexuality and then ran off with their childminder.
Any time that you want to come over you would be more than welcome. We don't have room in our house to put you up but you would be more than welcome to spend a couple of weeks or more at our static caravan so that you could explore Derbyshire and the Peak District. . We would make time so that we could take you out for a meal or two as well as showing you around. It is comfortable so I'm sure you would enjoy yourself here.
There are definitely some idiots around when it comes to thinking they know best on flooded roads and causeway. She was quite obnoxious when people advised her not to drive it. I'm sure she will have had a very expensive repair bill to her Chelsea tractor.
Anyway. We are here if you want to chat. We can always give you our WhatsApp number. Stay well and look after yourself. By the way,we are considering putting the Donald Campbell video up sooner rather than later. Your friends DnK

@@CampervanTales Thank you guys for your kind support. It means a lot to me. Nicole and I are working things out, finding a new path as close friends. It all came as a huge surprise to me. But I know that I was absolutely the best thing for her for 10 years. But…when it comes to figuring out one’s sexuality, all I can do now is love and support her from the sidelines. I’ve had friends be shocked that the age thing was an issue, until I tell them how old I am. Then they do the math and realize, “Ya, that’s a pretty large age gap!”. Honestly, I’m doing fine. It has been a painful, sad time. I haven’t slept all that well. But each day, I get closer to feeling better. And I’m proud that I got to love someone fully. Total acceptance and with no expectations. I gave to her and the relationship fully because it gave me so much reward in return. Now, it’s on to new adventures! I’ll let you know if and or when I cross the pond! Cheers!

You are incredibly strong. Much stronger than either of us. I would be a total mess without Keith. He saved me when I was drowning and still keeps me afloat. You must make plans to come over. Maybe even hire a campervan and we can comvoy and show you our favourite places in the Lake District.

@@CampervanTales I had to figure some serious internal matters out within myself after my first marriage. Every relationship leading up to and including my marriage had been train wrecks. The common denominator? Me! So, I worked (journaled) everyday for hours. I was taking care of mom, while I also had some weird health stuff of my own to deal with. But I journaled and worked out pretty much everyday for 4 1/2 solid years. One day, after noting the date down and starting a sentence, my pen automatically wrote, “ This is boring! I think I’m done!”. And I was done. Now, I’m not saying that I am some kind of powerful mystic. I still have issues. But I found a nugget of my true self. And I try to live from that place as best as I can. And because I loved Nicole without expectations, because I accepted everything about her, I simply keep holding that energy as we transition into a different kind relationship.
You and Keith are an amazing love story! It’s obvious that you both love each other dearly. Maybe one day, I’ll get another shot at love. If not, I’ll be content knowing that our love (Nicole and I) was truly special and very deep.
I had the same thought of renting a campervan if I come over. The thought of going on a wee trip with you two would be amazing! So… after I do a bit more healing, I think I’ll start making plans for an adventure.
Who knows, you may see me sometime soonish! Cheers!

@@mickylawless1941 that would be fantastic. Give us fair warning as Keith would have to book time off work. Our next big trip is Scotland in October. I would like him to retire but we can't afford for him to do that. It means we have to plan longer trips months in advance.

We had to fabricate a slight base, more because we are short than any other reason.
