- David and I decided to take a few days out to explore the new Northumberland 250 on our BMW R1250GSs. And we were not disappointed, brilliant quiet roads and scenery to rival the very best. In part one we take on the Eastern 1/2 of the route up to Berwick upon Tweed including the dangerous tidal causeway to Lindisfarne / Holy Island.

Loved this chaps. I aim to ride it this summer and it will have special significance since it is my home turf. Thanks for stirring up some old childhood memories.
It is such a superb route and glad you enjoyed our vid. I will look out for your version once you have ridden it this summer, I am sure that you will really enjoy the route.... cheers.
Brilliant vids. I have ordered my map today and hope to do this August time. Thanks for the inspiration. GS750.
I do hope that you enjoy the N250 as much as we did, a brilliant two days riding indeed.
Great video, so pleased you had the good weather and enjoyed the trip. But don’t tell everyone how nice it is 👍🏻👍🏻🤫🤫
Shhhh don’t tell the camper van drivers…. Cheers Paul.
You didn't show Rothbury? A central hub for Northumberland bikers, with a nice cafe or two.. You passed through it on the way to Alnwick. Northumberland really needs two or three visits to fully experience.
Most of my own channel is exploring the miles and miles of amazing roads in Northumberland, just waiting for those on two wheels to discover.
We did stop in Rothbury for a cuppa, just did not film it.
Really liked this video. I am all set to ride this route in September, so I look forward to your next instalment.
Wonderful video Martyn.
Cheers Ian 👍
Holidayed up round Seahouses and Alnwick a few times in the past. The beaches are lovely but the wind off the sea can be perishing at times, even on nice sunny days.
Hi Martin another cracking video of you & your sidekick David. You were right the white stuff is bird poo at Farne Island all the look forward to more videos to come.. 👍
Campervans are normal commercial vans, Motorhomes are built on commercial pickups a caravan on a pickup
Hi, I'm planning to go to Northumberland myself in a couple of weeks and might try this route. What was the name of the castle/hotel you first stayed in, it looked very nice?
do you have a gpx for this?
We used the paper map though there is a downloadable GPX on the Northumbria 250 website.
Not a route I've heard of, I will have to put that one on the list.... but I promise not to take a camper van / mobile home / motorised snail.
