    Hello, I have a question regarding the Aerophone. I play clarinet for my church, but I'm surround by electric guitars and drums, and even with a mic I can barely be heard. I was thinking of getting the Aerophone AE 05. I can plug it into an amp so that would solve my volume issues. The question is, would my clarinet fingerings be the same as on the Aerophone?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  4 роки тому +1

      So the Aerophone would finger the same as you’re upper octave on the clarinet but in all octaves. You would not have the throat notes A Bb etc. Just play all octaves as if playing the top octave of the clarinet.
      Hope that makes sense.

    • @SpookyBeast1917
      @SpookyBeast1917 4 роки тому

      @@isax.academy it makes sense. I would mostly use the top octave to play anyways so that isn't an issue. Thanks for replying!

    Hi all, help needed please. Can I change the key on my AE10 to play F# Major using only the C Major keys. I see from this video you can do it on the "Go" but not sure about the AE10.
    Many thanks
    Steve

      Yes indeed. In the menu go to transpose and set the key to F#.

    Awesome, I have been looking exactly for this. I have Clarineo and, being a beginner, I find it tricky to play along with songs that have too many flat notes (inconvenient key). So, I can adjust transpose and suddenly I can play with almost "all white keys" :) Yeah, it's cheating - but hey, I'm not a pro band player and I want to have fun!

    Hello Alistair. What do you do to reduce latency when using the Aerophone and a plugin software like SWAM our the Sample Modeling brass? I would love to see a video on how to make this as smooth as possible for live sessions while using these great sounds. As always, i really appreciate your work!

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  5 років тому +2

      Hi. I believe it’s all about your individual set up. There are various steps that contribute to latency.
      Things to try.
      Have you checked the latency settings?
      Do you have a good sound card? Internal sound cards tend not to be fast enough.
      It’s good to have plenty of Ram in the computer.
      Of course a good computer is also important.
      My setup is MacBook Pro 16Gb ram. With SSD HD. Focusrite thunderbolt sound card.
      Works very well with less than 12ms latency.
      Hope that’s some help.

    I’m playing the tenor saxophone and the clarinet. When in the band, we are always taking about the concert key. Nobody cares about what it is “locally “ on my horn. Alle the sheet music is also in concert keys. This is so common in small jazz bands that I have totally forgotten my “local” key, because what do I need that for? When the pianist plays a C, I play the concert C on on my horns, even if it’s a D “locally “.

    is it correct that, in EWI mode, the 'X' key raises the pitch by a fourth?

      @@isax.academy thanks for replying. i find the 'ewi' settings here confusing because it seems the akai design is based on an open c# then every key produces an independent tonal change, but it doesn't seem the roland does that, though it could be altered to. so for example, i could set d5 to be the open note, program c# for left3, (a bit like a rudall carte flute1867 [Anthony Baines 'Woodwind Instruments and their History pp67-69])
      : and i think the other 'ewi' fingerings would still sound their usual pitches despite the change.

    Hey Alistair. Great videos!!
    I was wondering, in your older videos about the EWI you sometimes have a background track of what seems to be you playing misty on the EWI. Can I listen to that recording anywhere?? Would love to!

    Thanks for your videos. I'd like to know if the GO is usable live, with MIDI over Bluetooth, controlling VST for example. Latency and disconnection (in an enviroment full of cellphones and bluetooth devices). Thanks

    • @isax.academy

      Hi. Truth is I haven’t really tried this in a challenging environment. I’ve done smaller scale gigs (100 people) with no issues but to be honest I’ve never totally trusted wireless anything live.
      It would be amazing to have 100% reliable Bluetooth but does that exist anywhere?
      Latency on my Mac is very acceptable as you can hear in my videos.

    I now have an Aerophone AE-10. Are the instruments on that pre-transposed? If reading sheet music intended for say a Bb clarinet, do I need to transpose at all? I thought all instrument score parts were pre-transposed so that things fit (if I recall from my orchestral bassoon days!). Never was good at transposing!

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  5 років тому

      Hi. You are correct. The AE-10 orchestral instruments have already been transposed so you are good to go.
      You can see the transposition in the menu for each instrument. You can of course change it if you wish and save it to a user memory.
      Thanks for watching.

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  4 роки тому +1

      Hi. First things is always to do a factory reset. I assume you are familiar with the palm keys and the order you should use them? Make sure you are set to sax fingering. Make sure you're not holding down any other keys and just pressing the palm keys. If that doesn't work I'd suggest you might have a faulty unit.

      I bought this unit as open box. Everything works besides the issue I mentioned before, none the less, I can not get the mouth piece to open and shot. Do I need a new mouth piece, or should I teryen the unit and get another one?

    Hallo Alistair. Is it possible (maybe in in the future) to set the keyes of the aerophone in such a way that it roughly corresponds the keyes of a clarinet? Clarinettists can then more easily read music with the Aerophone. A clarinet plays different note names in the chalumeau register than in the clarion register.

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  4 роки тому

      I’m not sure this would be possible because the clarinet has extra throat notes. The clarinet over blows a 12th and not an octave so the Aerophone would need more physical keys to allow this.

      Do you have the AE-10? So do I. Check page 7 of the manual. It would seem that with the AE-05 they added these buttons for quick changes.

      @@isax.academy, Thank You! It seems, though, that to transpose into another key I need to go by decimals... takes 20 to 60 seconds to change keys. Or is there a quicker way? Or (if that's not possible), what's the "rule of thumb"...? The default is 4400 - what do I need to change it to in order to go up or down a half note? (or maybe that's the wrong question - with some songs playing on Alexa/Amazon I just need to adjust a little so I can play along with them)
