    What Fenwick rod are you fishing? The spinning setup looked like it had the Fenwick eagle on it. Thx.

    The area you've fishing at is called Hell Gate and is the most treacherous area in the East River. Prior to the Atomic Bombing, the clearing of Hell Gate was the largest conventional explosion as those holders were left over from that explosion by the Army Corps of Engineers.

      They are a ton of fun, and there's some bigguns (I have yet to catch but have seen) around here!!! Equally though, I want to catch some of those giant Northerns!!! Thanks for watching and I'll check your vids out and subscribe!

    • @NorthernMike
      @NorthernMike 7 років тому +1

      Bass Man I've got good footage of some big Northerns for sure. I do have a buddy I met this past season via YT and we've been out fishing Lk St Clair a few times this year (one of the best freshwater fisheries on the planet). He has pulled some nice Musky and has footage on his channel (along with some good Smallmouth/Largemouth).
      His channel is Eternal Angler.

      @BassManFishing  7 років тому

      That's awesome Northern Mike! I will definitely check out and subscribe to his channel too! I imagine Lake St. Claire has some mighty smallmouth in it. A guy I know went to lake Erie once and said the smallies were biting so ferociously and he had caught so many that he laid on the deck of his boat - clicked the bail, let the jig hit the bottom and just the rocking of the boat moved the jig and they were crushing it everytime! I want one of those days!

    Hi, nice video! I will be in NYC the next week. Can you just tell me if there is any chances to catch something in the hudson (left manatthan) or if I have to try only on East River? Thank you!

    You need to use a buck tail that is what the big blues and strippers will take

    Hey don.
    What rod and reels do you use.

    • @BassManFishing
      @BassManFishing  6 років тому

      Hey there SBOS, I was WAAAAAYYY underpowered for a stout striped bass (perfect for Largemouth, and Smallnouth though), but I use a Fenwick HMG 6' 6" Medium Heavy rod paired with a Daiwa Tatula Type R 100XS. I also use a 6' 6" MH 2 piece (for easier travel on public transportation) St. Croix rod paired w another Daiwa Type R 100XS. For the spinning rod I have a 7' 0" Medium 2 piece Fenwick with a Shimano Stradic 1500 reel. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Just a reminder NYS law two rods per person in marine or coastal water!

    • @BassManFishing
      @BassManFishing  6 років тому

      Thanks Fishing Ham! I believe that would refer to how many rods are in use at once. I only throw one lure at any one time. I don't believe there are any laws as to how many rods/reels can be in an anglers possession. There are hundreds of thousands of bass fisherman and other (fresh and saltwater) anglers on boats that carry 10, 20, 30 rods aboard.
      I didn't find anything specifically on marine or saltwater, but the NYS site has this -
      Angling
      Angling means taking fish by hook and line. This includes bait and fly fishing, casting, trolling and the use of landing nets to complete the catch.
      Anglers must be in immediate attendance when their lines are in the water.
      >>>An angler may operate no more than three lines with or without a rod.

      Here's a link to the map of marine water of NYS

      Thanks again! Please point me to the information you mentioned regarding number of rods a person can carry when you have a chance. Thanks again!

    • @FishingHam
      @FishingHam 6 років тому +1

      I couldn't find the info of fishing rods number limit on DEC's website either. But any saltwater pier or public fishing spots should have signs. I'll take a picture next time.
