Let's not forget that the Dirac works for left and right pocket carry. When I carry a gun I want an automatic knife in my left pocket to use to end a gun grab. So many righties do not think about left side carry.
I'd recommend using a small fixed blade, I use a kabar, just because if the knife blade on an OTF hits anything it can derail. I love OTFs, my favourite type of knife, but they have reliability concerns. If you do want one anyways though I'd recommend a single action! It'll stay out a lot better even if it misfires
I have a gerber 06 auto for a utility folder that sits in my right pocket and a small fixed blade that I carry weak hand for that reason. But nobody said I can't carry 3 blades at a time so this might go in my left pocket.
I am a lefty ( main hand firearm ) and so glad most are right side carry. I understand your pain though, cause there needs to be more Lefty Friendly Holsters. And Lefty Friendly Sh!t in general lol.
Microtech’s warranty is amazing. Had to send in an Ultratech for service and the customer service was great and the turnaround time was very fast. I can highly recommended sending your knives to Microtech for service, sharpening, etc.
I bought a Delta last year and honestly forgot I even bought it I thought my Ultratech was the best EDC OTF and I recently found it and started to EDC it and I love the double edge blade it actually comes in handy more than I thought it was gonna be and I honestly haven't touched my Ultratech since I found my Delta
What people aren't talking about is how nicely the blade and handle is proportionate to each other. This is huge.I love your reviews. It would have been nice to reviewed the two sizes side by side.
If you want to remove the glass breaker on a Microtech put masking tape on the concave faces of the glass breaker and use the 3 prongs on the chuck of your drill to hold it and turn
I have this and it’s little brother. Smooth, easy action and comfortable handle. I’d never thought about the having twice the edge retention. Good call! This knife looks to me like a typhoon class submarine in silhouette. Cool knife.
Just got one in bronzed metal and black handle...I can't stop the itch now. Got my first MT a few weeks ago and that thing is awesome...believe me I like my Recon 035 and like my ultratech..but wanted a front face switch otf...glad I pulled the trigger on it. Should get it in a few days.
If you don't have the tool the best alternative is to use a drill. It'll screw right down with a piece of plastic over it so it won't leave any scratches and you can manually unscrew it

Pay the extra $ for the delta, the standard Dirac is a bit too small and not worth the asking price in my opinion. Micro Tech should make an in-between size of this model as well. Lightweight and slim in your pocket for an EDC.
I got the standard D/E tactical (blacked out) version because I personally like the smaller size. Thinner and slightly smaller than the UTX-85. Love the Dirac. Super smooth actuation. My only complaint is the double retention on the clip-pretty tough to get out quickly. Unfortunately it does not slide out very easily but it as you said, definitely stays in the pocket. The UTX-85 clip works a bit better offering more clearance.
I have one of these with the apocalyptic m390 blade!!! This is my one and only otf knife. It ruined my want to buy any of the side slider button otfs. Now, I just want another Delta! I am willing to bet that MC wants to get a marfione custom with Damascus blade.

A spring in my Dirac Delta broke when I deployed the blade during the fourth week after I bought it. Sent it back to microtech and they fixed it real quick but didn't say anything about the reason why or what happened. Sucks that it would break so fast, being something that I would hope I could trust to be reliable. When it came back it was drenched oil maybe if a spring is dry it's a problem.
@@metal_complex good to know DLT Trading who I ordered it from said that it only happened one time with a customer before. Luckily microtech has good repair services. I bet it will work fine now that they have gone over it again.

I really liked the GT 35 because of the action so I bought the big one. the dirac is such a nice knife though and it is the best microtech that I have tried besides the scarab 2.
@henryfeige8596 Funny you asked. Since I posted that, I've owned all three, and love them equally for their own reasons. That was my first otf wich I just got on Friday from GT shop in emporium. Sold me it for $100 since the handle has a barely noticable blemish with the etching. The blade is soooo sharp but I do believe he sold me it that cheap because the blade is slightly rubbing on one side when deployed. The black is wearing away very slightly towards the bottom. Still worth it tho
21:40 what if I get blood in the knife. I'm thinking buying for personal defense, would I need to wash it off before retracting Everytime I get blood on it???
How much personal defense do you plan on doing because even if you did have to wipe it after every attack is that really more of an inconvenience for you to prioritize after just having used it on someone enough to get their blood all on it? Seems like if you are that concerned about your safety you would think about what being so non chalant about stabbing someone and considering your pocketknifes well being over another human looks like to people who could consider that extreme/violent and find you as the main aggressor and lock you up for that where your safety would really be compromised and your knife wouldnt be there to malfunction on you in a personal issue with someone and if you did keep a shank and used it for self defense in there that would only be used against you furthering your problem from the stabbing incident which the police undoubtedly will sort out the details for you... Your knife although may be gunked up from blood and still in the open position and need a wipe but first they will need it to show to the jury so not wanting to wipe it after stabbing someone and calling it self defense will only (in reality) go against you. Be smart dont openly plan on stabbing someone with your knife or suggest it even as a joke as it could be used against you in the future as premeditatation if you ever do have to protect yourself with a blade one day.
Actually the placement of the slider on the Ultratech has a lot more sense than those on Dirac and Infidel. After releasing the blade the thumb is exactly in the position to make a cut.
It's not the only optimal position for your thumb. There are lots of ways to hold a knife when you're cutting. "Optimal" positioning is just opinion and perspective.
@@metal_complex Usually You control blade with the thumb during the cut. I am trying to imagine more ergonomic way and frankly speaking just cannot think about any other way. But of course every day is a good day to learn something new. 😁
People are dumb, I have put my combat Troodon up to my jeans and fired it before, barely got though and broke skin. I have had a worse wound from a bee sting. 🤷♂️
So I got my dirac today in the mail! The edge is trash! This knife is so dull it ain’t funny! U can grab the blade and slide ur fingers up and down on the blade and not cut urself! Geez man! U would think for 380 bucks it would come sharp!
Functionally, they're about the same. The tip on the Dirac is more delicate so it probably isn't as well suited for tougher tasks. I really just like the overall design and aesthetics more.
@@metal_complex yea i agree microtech is one of my favorite if not the favorite for OTF. The mini troodon is coming out thats great for around the house and such
No. You would have to intentionally jam something into your pocket with constant force to deploy the blade. Even if you do that, the blade would go off track preventing the knife from stabbing you like in a movie.
I have one, the blade play is minimal. All otf’s have some due to the design of them. Excellent knife I love it. In my opinion it is much better than the infidel.

Here in Georgia legally you can wear a machete ?
Hello how it compares to combat troodon when it comes to spring action
Similar. The Combat Troodon fires a little harder
Cries in Canadian knife laws.
In the Czech Republic they cost twice as much , and the better ones are unavailable D !
The best otf is G&G...HAWK.....nuff said ! ! !
"the worst" interests me much more.
😊👍
A socket will fit the pocket clip screw
That is a slick looking knife, but I can’t understand the logic behind the blade shape.
It's for poking. This is meant for self defense brother.
last noise you hear b4 you die is twang😳🤣✌😎👍
People are dumb, I have put my combat Troodon up to my jeans and fired it before, barely got though and broke skin. I have had a worse wound from a bee sting. 🤷♂️
So I got my dirac today in the mail! The edge is trash! This knife is so dull it ain’t funny! U can grab the blade and slide ur fingers up and down on the blade and not cut urself! Geez man! U would think for 380 bucks it would come sharp!
what does d/e and t/e mean on microtech otf's?
D/E dual edge. T/E Tanto. S/E single edge 👊🏻
HALO's are my fav, although this one looks very nice. Had a bunch years ago, should have never sold them.. :^(
U think this is better than the troodon?
Functionally, they're about the same. The tip on the Dirac is more delicate so it probably isn't as well suited for tougher tasks. I really just like the overall design and aesthetics more.
@@metal_complex yea i agree microtech is one of my favorite if not the favorite for OTF. The mini troodon is coming out thats great for around the house and such
Legal in Tennessee. I need one.
Is the ping noise normal when deployment of the blade?
They put sound deadening stuff on the spring to prevent that. If it's resonating, it just needs more applied. It's not hurting anything though
@@metal_complex would I have to send it in to get more of that stuff applied?
i like the face switch
Lol. Twang noise ruining an attempted murder. Great video thanks for making it. 🔥
Is this blade ok in Texas? Houston?
All knives are now legal to carry in Texas. Just can't carry them in restricted buildings.
@@burritosupreme333 Nice! Thanks, I can now carry a firearm without a permit too.
This thing is awesome.
Nashville baby. Safe
I really like this knife and some others but I really wish glass breakers would go out of style. At least this one isn’t sharp.
I'm not crazy about it
I WANT A DIRAC DELTA
BM Infidel kinda the same build
Does this have the chance of accidentally deploying in your pants or something? Apologies if that was mentioned.
No. You would have to intentionally jam something into your pocket with constant force to deploy the blade. Even if you do that, the blade would go off track preventing the knife from stabbing you like in a movie.
Sold out every where anyone know where to order one
Very nice
Not crazy about having a very sharp tip on the back end of my knife.
It’s not sharp at all.
REM oil is a dry lubricant? What? Lol
The spray can is. The oil version isn't.
Buy the tool fix your own knife it isn't hard at all
DIRECT* DELTA
Be careful if you’re going to open up your microtech you could void the warranty!
Show us blade wobble/play it have.
All reviews avoid this topic
I have one, the blade play is minimal. All otf’s have some due to the design of them. Excellent knife I love it. In my opinion it is much better than the infidel.
All OTF’s except for the Deadlock have some amount of blade play .
Stop calling it "large" ...while it's the largest they may make, it isn't large...they need to make a Dirac with at least a 5 inch long blade.
