That sounds about like my experience last June crossing from Detroit to Windsor…CBSA officer had me roll down all windows (I did), asked me where I work, why I wasn’t at work (vacation I said), when I was expected back (one week from now I said) where I was going (Toronto and I showed him my reservations) and away I went. Coming back one week later US officers asked where I had been, if I had anything to declare (I rattled off a short list of the typical souvenirs I had) and into Detroit I went. Nothing to hide and no problems.
I remember once while in line to cross into the Us , they had guards roaming around cars in line . One came up to me and asked if they could hide pot on my vehicle as part of training a drug sniffing dog ? Was cool. Took dog 5 minutes to find it , so the guy thanked me . I had to ask , " does this mean I get preferential treatment with customs " ?
Why was the light green though when the car was still at the booth? What's the point of the stop sign and the other sign below it if you have a green light contradicting it??
So when you go to the Border into Canada I have a question. I was born in Toronto in 57 and moved to NC USA in 1971 and became a citizen of USA and currently living in North Carolina. Here's the question: When they ask where are you from? Should I tell them I was born in Toronto but moved to USA and living in NC now. OR should I keep it simple and just say I'm from North Carolina and here to visit for the day and heres my passport. What are your thoughts?
I would keep it simple and say NC. They usually ask, "Where are you coming from?" Or "Where is home?" But if they were to ask, "Where were you born?" Then I would mention Toronto.
No one was wearing a mask at either crossing. I had to go in and pay taxes at the Canadian side, and no one inside the office was wearing one either. No questions were asked to me about vaccinations or the Arrive Can app.

Thank you for educating others about being most effective about crossing the U.S. border there as a Canadian traveler yourself there man!
Great video, helped eased my anxiety about crossing the border for the first time :)

Have all your documents ready be honest about everything and you will breeze right through.
Most are pleasant. Some not so much.
Yep it's pretty much the luck of the draw of witch officer you get.

I'm thinking it might just be a light that shows the lane is open.

@@sawdog204 Thanks so much. Yeah, it sounds like you need to keep it simple and not go into too much detail. Thanks. I subscribe to your channel.
Minors are allowed to present a birth certificate either original or copy but what if the parents date of birth are incorrect?
can you report on mask wearing? Did you and/or the border guards wear one? Seems like no questions asked about vaccination or Arrive Can app

@@sawdog204 thank you. I haven't been back since the pandemic started. I was considering going maybe this summer.
