My cousin is in the navy and was serving on HMS Duncan, half way between Cyprus and the Suez Canal his wife went in to labour and they helo’d him off to go back to Akrotiri and jetted home. He missed the birth but was there for the first few hours and all of this was done in under 24 hours, remarkable.

He has a great father. When he said: "When I look at my dad I see the husband I want to be to my wife" That's the way it should be. Now days you have young "Kids" jumping into relationships, popping kids out and disrespecting their partners creating a new generation of disrespectful relationships. LOVE seeing "Good" parental figures like this.
I was definitely blessed with an AMAZING father. Never once did I see him do anything negative to my mother. God Bless This Family 💖💖

I'm the one that had to be told "you have stage 4 advanced cancer".
My son was 14 at the time and he was so scared he would lose me.
But being the backbone of the family I persevered and adapted the way I always did and at the same time became a moral booster for some of the children in the oncology ward as i rode my motorcycle to radiation and chemo treatments.
The doctors would point to me out to them and tell them how I rode it in because I didn't want to become one of those who succumbed to the treatments.
I'm glad that many of them saw me as a "hero" that didn't give in and it helped them get through the pain of those nightmare treatments.
    Cancer sucks!
Listen to your body when it talks to you!!
And to you OP, thanks for your service and being there for your dad!

@R MAN It's simple. You get a pain somewhere and think "It'll go away" or like me a persistent headache.
I'm an OTR trucker. Headaches were common due to sun or stress of idiot drivers or sitting waiting on loads or in 8 hour backup.
I got to the point of eating asprin and taking a nap half way through my day BEFORE they made a 30 minute break a HOS rule. I was only 54 years old and fit as a fiddle or so I thought.
Then a lymph node stuck out of the side of my neck. About a month later I go to the doctor and he gave me some pills and told me to come back in a week.
I did. The lump was still there. He looked up my nose, stood back and told me to go get a CT scan NOW.
30 minutes later I'm getting one and told to call my doctor next Thursday.
I did BUT he told me he couldn't say anything on the phone!
I asked if my wife could come in and then call me and he said yes.
1 hour later she calls me and is crying and tells me I have cancer and puts the Dr on.
He asks me when I can get back and I tell him tomorrow.
I get there and he shows me the scan that showed a LOT of tumors all through my sinuses, throat, mouth and right lung, then has me get to an ENT for a biopsy.
The next week I come back and go to the ENT and find out I am at Stage 4 Advanced Nasopharyngeal carsonma.
Stage 4 Advanced is the highest stage you can get. The next stage is death!
All because I didn't listen to my body telling me to go see a doctor!
My cousin did the same thing!
Colon cancer! He went in, for an exploratory surgery and came out missing a few feet of his colon and wearing a bag!
A friend many years ago. Skin cancer that migrated into his lungs. He died leaving 3 young children and a wife.
We were all bad assed men that nothing would ever happen to. You know, BULLET PROOF!!
I hope everyone reading this starts to "listen" when your body is trying to tell you something is wrong!
      Dont become me!!!!

I have been unlucky in love: 2 husbands, both narcissists; now, I don’t even look at men in the same admiring way that I used to. I used to put them in a pedestal; thus, narcissists were attracted to me. I never heard of the word until recently. Now that I know much about them, I’d rather be single all my life. I brought up a narcissist son, too. Sad, but there is nothing I can now do.

I love this...the most sadly beautiful thing I have ever seen was when my father-in-law, a Navy vet, died...his grandson (marine)was not only able to be at the military funeral...it was arranged for him to be there, in uniform, to present the flag to his grandma...there wasn't a dry eye in the house...but, I feel that the military makes any concessions that it can...and, that was so special to ALL of us...I know "Dad" was proud.
