I can't explain why, but I feel like I'm getting a private lesson from a fashion consultant. Maybe it's the absence of cutesy vibes and overly cheesy positive music. I only just noticed that you don't even use music! I didn't even notice, like when other people don't have music and you can just hear the static and awkward silence. (Btw, you don't need cutesy vibes. You have just the right touch of humor. You're cute just as you are and your frank comments mixed with encouragements are so helpful.)
+Melissa Kim thanks for all the compliments 🤗
This lady is french and goes by 'less is more". It shows through her youtube style as well. (Im not french btw)
Because of your comment, I just notice that there're really no music.
You know what, until I read your comment I had never noticed that Justine's videos have no music. That must be one of the reasons why I find them so pleasant to watch, along with her intelligent and sensible advice! I wish more youtubers did the same thing, constant background noise is really annoying and makes it harder to focus. Less is definitely more!
I think skinny pants can look incredibly feminine and nice on a woman with a pear shaped body. Don't be afraid to show your butt and hips! I'm a pear shape and the majority of the pants I own are slim/skinny fit. I adore my hips and have no trouble showing them off. I'd actually prefer to :)
You don't have to look like an hourglass shape if you don't want to. If you wanna look like a pear, look like a pear. If you love your hips and your small bust line like I do, wear what you feel looks good on you! She said these are ~just tips~ if you don't like certain parts of your body. If you like all of it and are fine showing all of it, do that. As long as you believe you are beautiful others will get over it
I wear skinny pants too and i think it's more flatering than flare pants. I hate flare pants and the fact that all the advices i get involves flare pants. I think they are the uglyest :'(
So much this. I'm definitely a pear too (my hips are not even that wide but I have the tiniest rib cage and a small bust), yet skinny jeans are the only thing I wear. I mean can you even buy flare pants these days?! That said, i guess I am lucky because my legs are quite long.
I do implement a lot of her tips for the tops though (horizontal stripes FTW!). The tip with the bold accessories is a good one. I do not wear enough of them.
I take the middle ground and try to find "boot cut" pants, since I really dislike flares but skinnies make me look fatter than I really am.
I can't wear anything tight on my bottom. It rides up and makes me feel like my bum and thighs are being squished and there's a giant gap on my waist. As far as flares, that's what I usually wear in pants or joggers. You may try boot cut jeans because they're sort of in the middle, but if you're like me, you hate denim lol
If I wear skinny jeans, I would pair it with a long top. I never look good with tops that ends at my bellybutton...it has to cover half of my butt.
It's weird because I have wide hips, thick thighs, and fat butt but I don't have boobs. Weird.
Gurlxx same
Gurlxx lol me too
Same. Maybe we are not so weird.x
Gurlxx saaaame
Gurlxx so do I - it's not weird x
my pants defo have to be high waisted or else 🔫
dat gap tho
same lol
I love the way you talk. You are very likeable! :)
+magnamia thank you 😅😄
magnamia I like the fact that she doesn't try to be likeable, she just is
yeah
Agreed!
I LOVE a good wrap dress for my pear shape. They typically tie right at the waist and the dramatic v neck really brings attention up, they can be more casual with flats and a cardigan or dressed up. Plus if you invest in a nice fabric you can often wash them!
+Rachel Collyer do you know the wrap dress by Diane von Fürstenberg? You might like it!
I'm pear shaped too. Whenever I wear a wrap dress, it comes off as a. bit too sexy. I have trouble looking for a line dresses with bodice because my torso is longer than most. Also, where I live, 5'8" is considered tall. I have trouble finding pants that fit the waist+hips and are long enough to cover my ankles.
I love Wrap dresses . I’m always looking for a great wrap .
A slight ruffle on the edge of the armhole or a flared short sleeve in fluid fabric draws the eye to your top half , particularly if sleeve is slightly gathered .
I love a wrap dress. It looks good on every body shape 💖💖💖
@@fuchsiagirl001 Sounds like you have the same issues as me ...wrap dresses too low/gaping on top, waist lines too high and legs too short...and most of my pants gap a lot at the waist. I still tend to wear a lot of wrap dresses though ... a simple tack at the neckline where I'd like it to stop gapping and it's usually good to go - takes about 30 seconds. For the wrap dresses that I wear more I've added a single hook ad loop or snap closure so I don't have to bother with tacking each time. Works pretty well for me.
Pear-shape here. Skinny/narrow pants can be made wearable on our shape if you follow some guidelines: wear a clunky, tall boot and go for a monochrome top and bottom, if you are not wearing boots but instead shoes or sandals, go with a chunkier shoe, and wear your pants either ankle or cropped. Try a larger, floaty longer blouse with any of these looks -- it is totally okay to give up your waist as a pear because a larger blouse over skinny pants can give balance to a pear shape.
christialle, I'm on to skinny pants with larger tops for my pear shape, too. I find it balances my hips better than flare jeans and shorter tops. Wide leg trousers are the exception, they are quite flattering.
christialle yass FLOWY TOPS LOOK AMAZING ON THE PEAR SHAPE!!!!! I love flowy tops cause they make me feel so confident and elegant
christialle you're right on the chunkier shoe I got a pair of vans and they don't look good on me with some outfits
I totally agree. I used to wear wide military pants and tight tops because I hated my thick thighs, but now as I switched to skinny pants and looser tops I can finnaly feel pretty and feminine without that tomboy wibe
Wow, this thread really shows the variety of even triangle/pear-shaped ladies. Perhaps it relates to the ratio, as well. Here, Justine appears to have a 12-inch difference between her hips and her waist. I have a 21-inch difference!! :)
I exclusively wear tight or fitted tops, because anything even remotely flow-y rests on my hips and creates a tent, which makes it look like my whole body is as wide as my hips/thighs. Not a good look on me.
Regarding skinny pants for pears, I think they look good when they are darker and paired with a top that creates a line across the shoulders and bust, as @Justine said in her video. (Or when paired with a statement necklace or a scarf.)
Great guidance, very clear and practical. No small talk, straight to the point :)
Excellent video :)
+Brankica Mitrovikj Thank you!! Very kind of you :-)
You are the "Lisa Eldridge" of fashion on UA-cam. I feel lucky to have discovered you.
xo
+asra ghouse oh wow, huge compliment, thanks!!
My pleasure, indeed. One request: Please make an update on this subject factoring heights of people. Thank you xo
Justine Leconte officiel I think so too, I also follow Lisa 😍
me too, had to think of this as well ! lisa and justine are my youtubers!
Funny to read this comment, I had exactly the same thought. Lisa Eldrige and Justine Leconte have much in common. You feel totally comfortable listening to them, they make you feel every type of woman is beautiful.
As a fellow pear, I find that a classic button-up shirt works wonders, as it creates a lot of visual interest around the neck and shoulders. As a very structured piece, it also gives the impression of a voluminous upper bust. Paired with high-rise jeans/trousers, it looks really put-together.
im a pear shaped but everytime i wear bell shaped pants, my figure looks even more unflattering. so what i down is i wear skinny jeans and i wear long top till it covers just my butt. or i wear those pants thats wider on the thighs and slims down on the calves. i know it sounds the complete opposite but it looks good. i think it really is a matter of trying out which cutting flatters you not only the cutting but the style cos bell pants is a big style no no for me (i dont like retro) but yeah a rough guide is good too
+iffahooha if you add heels, you'll be fine :-) Thanks for your thoughts!
With a bell pant, you need to wear a heel. Like a peep-toe bootie or sandals w chunky mid high heel. Couple w Turtle neck and wear hair down, wavy, big & full, to ballance the flair in pant. It looks rich and chic. 💖 Can add a crop blazer too.
I do the same thing
Exactly! Nearly all of my pants are jeggins style and I look much better to me in this shape than wider at the ankles, those make me look HUGE
And make sure they’re high waisted so you can bring attention to that area.
i love to dress in skinny jeans and a causal t-shirt as a pear. Because I love my pear-shaped body, and not hiding my shape. It's the element of surprise. "Oops! You were'nt expecting that but, were you ;)." Also, a nice t shirt that has a good fabric can accentuate the small waist of the pear and flatter your curvy hips, thighs, etc, especially if the t- shirt is cut at the bottom of the hip bones. Pear is lovely. And high waisted jeans are even better. Essentially you are showing the world that curvy on the bottom is really sensual and beautiful. And of course being smaller on top leaves so much room for simple creativity and modest sensuality.
Saaame, I love skinny jeans :))
You nailed it lady!
Agreed 💖💖💖
I agree. Pear shape is very lovely and feminine!
Same here I love my shape and I love skinny high waist wont stop wearing them
I sometimes wish i could yell in front of the world that BEING SKINNY DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN'T BE PEARSHAPED!!! Every time i say "i'm pear shaped" people go like "OMG you're not even fat! where's the pear there??" as if I insulted their ancestors or something. It's called SHAPE not weight. God! And i'm in terrible shape, i am like 80 for breast (extremely small breast) and more than 100 for the butt... I'm so unsatisfied with that, especially since I wear one size bigger on the bottom as opposed to the top. :(
Silvia C. I have the same proportion problems! No boobs and huge hips!!
Silvia C. Agree 100%. Im actually more pear shaped when I’m thinner. Body shape does not mean body weight. It’s perfectly normal to have a small bust and big hips so don’t worry!
God what a forever mood
Pear shape is not about breast size
its about bone structure of the torso (the rip cage is tiny and pretty short or almost cropped) like a actress lena dunham , kate winslet,
And you should be thankful if you have small breast cause iam pearshaped wirh big breast and its worst cause my torso is too small and short for my big breast and any small weight i gain it goes directly to my breast and thighs which makes me even more weird shape
same proportion issue !! can’t wear jumpsuits or rompers T_T
The best tip I've found for a pear shape is to grow your shoulders and flaunt the hell out of your hips and butt. You can grow your shoulders by doing lateral exercise and lots of shoulder presses. This will create an amazing figure- tone your arms and create an hourglass silhouette. This works!!
that's a great tip. Actually I am a pear too and I started to train doing pull-ups, to get stronger shoulders. It hurts but the result is worth it (as well as the kick when I am able to finally look above the bar when reaching the top ;-)
Justine Leconte officiel I've noticed my shoulders are getting bigger as I'm working out they're almost the same length as my hips what would our body shape be now called?
I do this, and I absolutely look my shoulders!
@@yasminkhalil5227 it's gonna be called an Hourglass
@@yasminkhalil5227, hourglass.
I'm a pear shaped person and I actually love slim leg pants. I think the key here (not only for a better look but also for comfort) is to make sure they're high waisted, and that they fit in all the right places. That can be incredibly hard with a slim leg jean so you may spend ages looking for the right pair. I honestly think my slim leg jeans are much more flattering on me than my ones that are wider at the bottom. I contrast it with a top that is looser around the belly area but flatters my small bust and waist. This way I can show off my curves but still achieve a balanced look.
I agree with your points, also wearing dark below and lighter colors on top work better, and an a-line midi skirt is a good one too. Love your videos and your style
im triangle shape and my favorite part of my body is my big hips..
bobi ll Same here
Same and my booty . lol
Same
Thanks for the tips. I've been following them for ages and they do make your body looks more balanced.
Some women (like me) are uncomfortable with highlighting their wide hips, no matter how attractive other people say they are (the hips) or how they accentuate our feminine shape. That's not our goal. We just want to appear slimmer, taller, and more balanced. We want to be aesthetically pleasing all over, not just one part of our body.
I’m a pear shape and I can TOTALLY agree to the waist part. I always thought I was an apple shape or a rectangle but after measuring it turns out I’m a pear. After I started accentuating my waist I have a way more feminine and less “wide” silhouette.
I’m going to the octoberfest in Germany soon and I’ll wear a dirndl which is really tight at the waist and flares out over the hip bones (which are quite prominent for me) so it’s flattering one my body type;)
Woow, I am absolutely crazy about boat cut neck tops and now I know why!
I am pear shaped too, but I love it! I love fragile look of narrow shoulders and feminine look of wider hips. I do look the most elegant in straight cut pants, but I also love to wear high waist black skinny jeans. The only thing I absolutely avoid is hiding a waist (for example with baggy tops), somehow that makes me look huge. Otherwise I think we are pretty lucky with our body shape! :)
That was very interesting although I'm a pear shape and I love skinny jeans. And one thing I found out recently was that I feel high waisted jeans very flattering because it accentuates my waist, bottom and hips, and I love it.
I usually hate shoulder pads.
Same. I don't like looking like I have broad shoulders. Too masculine especially with my AA cup boobs lol
Me too they don’t suit everyone and I wore them enough in the 80s lol
Yes, me too. For me, when I wore one in the past and happened to look in the mirror I would automatically close ny shoulder or slouch myself. No point for me to wear them.
IKR! They make me look fat because my shoulders are already super broad and my bust is big, especially for my small height.
I think pear shaped body is second best to an hour glass. Because, like an hour glass, it is very feminine and women should not be afraid to flaunt their feminine traits.
Go girl
"Now comes the styling part" - that dance made my day :D
I think its a shame that pear shaped girls are trying to hide their hips. Wide hips is an attractive trait on a female, if anything you should draw attention to it.
+Joyce R Hi, it depends on the person's culture, country, age, self-confidence, etc. So it is hard to set rules. If anything, fashion allows you to take control of what you want to highlight / hide in your figure. In the 21st century, I think people shouldn't have to go by a given rule - in fact, the rules are blurring :-)
Joyce R not trying to hid, but balance
Ahmet Schnecken
Joyce R seriously I agree
Joyce R when I was younger I used to do that a lot but now that I'm older I know how to dress 😊
Just found your channel and I am loving it! Very informative videos and I love the visual examples. They help so much!
+Lauma Cepule you are very welcome!!
This explains why I LOVE flares!! Thank you. It all makes sense.
Love this video! You’ve really “hit the nail on the head”! I felt as though you were talking right to me. Thank you for helping all of us! ❤️
I'm a pear shape with fairly small breasts and quite wide hips, so I never feel comfortable with an a-line dress. The more I emphasize my waist, the larger my hips look :/ I prefer empire waist or similar.
hey dear , please list more ideas / type of clothing that suit this shape / hairstyles for different types of body etc
OK!
cheryl cheong oh yes!!! I'd love more ideas, too!
Justine. Thank you so very much for these vlogs! I put on a pretty navy a line dress this morning, dressed it up with a navy/yellow scarf and I feel wonderful!!! You are a treasure. Liz
Whoa. Best, clearest video ever! I think you just changed my life!!
I think another way to help accentuate the waistline is to go high-waisted. I'm a pear shape and absolutely love wearing high-waisted skinny jeans, capris, work pants, leggings, dress pants, shorts, skirts and anything else you can think of. Not only does it show how small your waistline really is, but it also gives your body a more prominent curve, and all of your feminine features are on display. Still, a very helpful video overall.
So informative, Thank you!
I am in between pear and hourglass and petite... It is so hard to dress me well. There are not stores that fit me. Do you know of online stores that fit petite people?
Also, it would be a lovely addition to have a video on how to measure bottoms, that is both, pants, and skirts. Thank you again! I love your videos and the way you explain everything.
that's really true , I've been following these tips before watching this video ..but now I'm satisfied because it feels like professional advice after hearing you.
Excellent Tutorial.. As a stylist myself, I found this so clear and you did a great job!
Hi, I'm a mum of 5 and I've got a pear-shape figure. Would you mind doing a video where you recommend clothes that flatter a figure with a little bit of a stomach (after-pregnancy-stomach), but still a pear-shape? Hope you know what I mean. Besides, love your videos. You do a great job!!!!!! :)))
I would love to see this too! Not a mom, but when i gain weight it goes to my belly 🙄
same, and sometimes I wonder if it makes me apple shaped, even though my hips are wider
Same! Thanks for suggesting this.
yeaaah she's very naturel *.* nd the way she laughs I'm loving her
I think this is one of my favorite looks on Justine. You look great!
This was SO helpful, thank you!
Thank you Justine, this was sooo helpful! I've always wondered why I couldn't rock skinny jeans like every other girl I see. I guess I have to go back to the 2000's and bring back bell-bottom pants! :D
Justine, vous etes superbe! J'adore votre videos! Tres cool. Merci!
+Soledad Pazo merci 😁😊
Justine Leconte officiel et moi 😁
Theeeee best video I have come across.thank you
.
Very helpful tips and very clear and concise descriptions. Thank you.
Hi Justine. Love your videos. A quick question here. I am(was a perfect pear shape) Loved it, easy to dress. Now that I am in my 60's I still have the pear shape PLUS a pot belly that so many older women get when the body says "Whew now the tummy muscles can relax" How do I hide the belly, and still look stylish. Oh and i am only 5" And Small build. Help....
I think that a pear shape can pull off skinny jeans as long as they're high wasted.
OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU! you make things so easy for people to understand.
I have not had anyone explain this as easy and simple the way you have explained. Thank yoj
Im a pear shape hate wide bell leg jeans.and shoulder pads yakky!
i wear slim jeans and pecill skirts.evetyone comments on how great i always look. Finishing School in France......
this is my body type but I have to ask, how to dress when you are petite? At5'2" I cannot do a flared/ bell pant. Would like your suggestons, merci!
I'm 5'1" - 5'2" and I have the same issue. I completely avoid bell-shaped or flared bottoms because they just look odd on my height, so you're not alone. If I feel like following these tips and extending my leg line, I wear well fitted slim/skinny pants that fit my silhouette perfectly and are tailored or fit at the perfect spot on my ankle. Then I wear those with a pointed toe shoe. It doesn't ~have~ to be a heel, because I don't really like heels, but I find a pointed oxford shoe, pointed flats, or a pointed toe bootie work just the same even though they don't add actual height. I find that the place your top end is essential with a short height, so you don't want it to stop just at your hips because it can make you look shorter or sort of cut off at the middle. I follow the tip she gives here, in that my tops always stop just above my hips, or a bit below.
Hope this helps! Short girls unite!
Thank you Justine, this is still the best video.
Justine, you are simply the best. Thanks so much, from someone who felt hopeless about fashion before seeing your channel. Respekt!
I'm a pear, but belts look terrible on me because I'm sort waist-ed.
Same, unless it's a super over-sized one worn well below the belt loops... but it's not very good for holding pants up haha
I have to wear them right on the small of the waist. Pants, too, or else I look like I'm melting lol
I've never understood diff between high or short waisted but my waist is closer to hips than waist so you can probably work it out lol. Shop assistant told me once to wear my belt up higher than my waist. Maybe only an inch or so so it still feels comfortsble and as a pear I have quite a small midriff and I tell you it makes a world of difference to how I look! One of the best tips anyone has given me!
You know what, although this video may be great for some people, I'm just gonna wear whatever the heck I want to!
Thank you Justine! Very helpful video! Many times I find it myself looking for the types of pieces of clothing that you are suggesting! You are very nice and knowledgeable😊
Love your videos. Calm voice, friendly, understated. Also, loved your make-up here. Excellent tips for us pear shapes! I've always been drawn to off the shoulder tops and I didn't know why, now I know! I never wear them tho, but now I will. Thanks so much.
I have really wide hips and a big butt and I NEVER try to "balance it out". Its a personal preference. Im a big woman and if I wear tops that bring too much attention to my upper area I look heavier in a way. I absolutely love to wear clothes that make my hips look wide and my upper half small and delicate. I do play with making my body look longer by wearing tops with the bottom hem falling just in the area my hips are wider.
I want to introduce a revolutionary idea- why not just mimic the shapes of the body ?, why do we strive to mimic an hourglass?. I just don't get this. I refuse to accept that hourglass is the most coveted shape
Shruthi Reddy me too
Shruthi Reddy I feel like when someone makes videos on these it's always on the professional aspect .I only found like one article on how pear shape women should dress sexy
because it looks more balanced. It isn't that we don't like other shapes, human beings are just naturally attracted to balance and symmetry.
Bullsh*t! Pears are sexy af. Don't emphasize your shoulders bring attention to your lovely hips!
Zonofv 1 Lol Agree 😊😂
Thank you - explained in a “matter of fact” simple way.
And I love your discreete makeup with the pastel tshirt and exactly the right scarf!
All great tips Justine 🌹 You are just a Joy to watch !! 💋
Hey Justine! Quick question: according to your video on how to take measurements I'm a pear shape - but I feel like my shoulders are quite wide (but since we're going by bust here I'm still considered a pear). Does my shoulder width affect what my body shape is?
This is me, too. No boobs to speak of, but definitely shoulders. 🙄 and then the hips & thighs...I have bicycler's thighs. 😂
Not really sure but I read somewhere that someone can have at least 2 body types, like me, for example, I used a body(?) calculator and it turns out I'm both a pear (larger hips, smaller chest) and a rectangle (no defined waist/waist and hip ratio are quite close)
@@lolcatmint That's exactly my body type!! I think we don't need to focus on dressing to draw attention to the top. Yet, we should make our legs look longer with high heels and balance out the width of the hips with flare out pants, or hide our thighs with A-line skirts and dresses like she said. That's what I have taken out of this video for my body type.
I consider myself a pear shaped person; my hips are definitely wider than my bust, with the waist being the smallest part, but my shoulders are a bit wider. A-line dress? Great! But shoulder pads just make me look absolutely weird, like my head is too small for my body. In general: if I put a lot of focus on the shoulders, they just look too wide for my head. It's weird. Am I really a pear?
This is going to be my bible! Thanks a million times! To the point, as always! Much love, Justine!!!
I love your way to tell us to make the best out of our selfs
I'm by definition a pear shape, but I often feel and look too top heavy wearing scarfs, bulking necklaces, and shoulder pads. Off one should seems to look better than off both. Could I be a broad shouldered pear? Is that possible and do you have any tips to compensate for that? Also do to have any tips for long torso problems? Thank you for you videos I appreciate you!
Try using less bulky accessories - so still wear a scarf, but one with less fabric that doesn't poof up so much. Hairstyles completely change things for me, too. You may also just be an hourglass though and wearing the big accessories is adding weight to an already balanced body.
I’m also broad shouldered pear and hate shoulder pads
great video! i used to think that I am hourglass figure but but bust isn't big enough. so I say if you have great bum you should own it! pencil skirts are must. and to be classy I'd say wear skirt/dresses that are knee length midi or maxi :)
I’m soooo glad I found this! Thank you
very good and best video i've seen on this topic!
halter tops.. gives you shoulders! 😋 and puff sleeves again to show shoulders. since shoulder pads are out of style I want to know a way to use them so it does not look like I am using them...😕
I've been seeing some casual shirts with built in small shoulder pads, surprisingly. Just enough to make the top jut out stiffly, but it isn't as noticeable as your typical shoulder pads.
Arielle Macuch my mom just gave me a pair that she had.. small I think what you are saying. now I have to figure out how to keep them in without moving and not under my bra strap 😊
Cap sleeves work too!
WiseFamin I have to look that up and see what those are 😊
Oh and recently I've taken all my trousers to have the waistline taken in so I can wear them ON my waist, without a belt.
well done ;-)
Thank you so much, very informative video
Justine you are great!
Hi, Justine. Thank you for these very interesting videos. I have a question: I measured myself - 87/68/95 and therefore went to the 'pear' video, BUT - I have wide shoulders that make my upper body appear a lot wider (about 98cm around the tops of the shoulders.) I don't have your petite look to the upper body that is so classically pear shaped. I don't really fit into the hourglass either since I have a small-medium bust (32C/70C) Any advice? Thanks in advance!
Does an hourglass have to have big boobs? I thought it was more: wide shoulders, nipped in waist and then hips roughly same size as shoulders? Maybe dress for a pear and then for hourglass and see which looks best on you and that's your answer. The Trinny and Susannah books on dressing for body shape are excellent (you can also find the content online).
Thank you, Carol - I appreciate the insight. I think that you must be right - the T&S 'Vase' shape looks right (apart from the big breasts ;-)
Carol - I think it has to be a really dramatic difference. So if you wore a large top and a large bottom, you would be an hourglass, but if you wore a small top and a large bottom, you would be a pear. If you wore a large top and a small bottom, you would be an apple, but if you wore only one difference in size between your top and bottom, you would still be an hourglass because it isn't very dramatic.
I have the same issue, I am trying to figure out which body type I am, and by this B 77 cm W 64 cm H 86 cm I am a pear, but when I look at my self on the mirror my shoulders are almost the same size as my hips, if not a bit bigger.. very confusing
Suzanne van Eeden The same happens to me. I have 92 bust, 70 waist and 101 waist. I don't appear a regular pear, but an hourglass. I wear what would flatter an hourglass and I am just fine.
What if I'm a pear with stupidly long legs. I usually end up with men's jeans in a 34" length and I'm only 5'9". I think if I make them look longer I'll look like an insect.
Kwandaioha O.o yes this is also what I want to know how to style! I'm a pear with stupidly long legs also but I'm 6ft. I don't want to make my legs look any longer than they already are 😂😂
I think then you just avoid high waisted pants and crop tops but still do shirts that still bring attention to your shoulder line. Can someone confirm? XD
Kwandaioha O.o I think tunic length tops will be your best friend! also find tips to make your legs look longer and do the opposite (ie what she said about black shoes black tights - you would do different color shoes from your tights or pants) also crop pants can make your legs look shorter.
Marissa Mandeville yes I love tunic tops! I just never seem to find ones that are long enough. I don't feel comfortable in tights if my butt shows.
Kwandaioha O.o I'm a pear and to me I'm nowhere near tall, but where I live, my legs are too long, so finding trousers that fit is impossible in my country. It's almost silly amd it makes me feel so weird.
fantastic tips!!!Thanks!
Hands down my favorite stylist!
Why can't u be proud of your hips?
+Claire Sizemore you can - I always say it in my videos 😉
You can be proud whilst hiding them
the problem is that 70's style pants are so out-fashioned right now :/
And also skinny jeans are better for a more active lifestyle, for example for cycling to work.
NuriaLuna Wow, I love wide leg pants but no way could I ride my bike wearing those hahaha : ) finally.
Excellent advice
But my problem as a pear isn't my shoulders/bust, it's that my butt looks mutant next to my waist.
same. I have a 13 inch difference and a shelf butt :/
@@StarCatcher-lw3on sounds like my ideal dream body I'd like to have
I love you but I wouldn't be caught dead in bottoms
So helpful, thank you.
I finally found out what my body type is, your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you!
"Its drawing attention to the hips and this we dont want"
Why on earth not, the hips and butt is the best part of the pearshaped body imo, why not flaunt it? Why is every advice for a pear shape to hide that glorius figure? I just dress how I want thank you very much
Beauty is all about symmetry and balance, thats why. You see it in art, nature and everywhere in the universe. I am also a pear-shaped lady and I feel way better and more elegant when I dress the way Justine recommends. :) Same with facial features, too long or too short should be balanced out for harmony :)
This made me really upset. I'm a pear (although a lot of people say I'm an hourglass - I'm not, my hips are wide) and I hate my body shape... everything that is "my style" doesn't suit me. And I hate flares/bell bottom jeans. It's so not my aesthetics... tried to make myself really skinny but my hips are still wide. Literally worst body shape ever.
no!!!! it is a very feminine body type you should not hate it! Fashion is sick when they promote these women that have no curves. I have no idea how old you are but I am mid 40s and have lived many years believing I was wrong but fashion (and designers) is. Start analysing who the designers are and you have the answer
Unicorn Princess all about where you're from. I'm from Latin America, and baby, hips don't lie.
Unicorn Princess if you think this is the worst body type ever why do you think celebrities like the kardashians get surgery to have big butts and hips you can always try to find a balance with your upper and lower body
Hey...try boot cut jeans. I live in my Levi's boot cut jeans and I have wide hips!
I think especially midi-length full skirts (a-line circle skirts etc) look amazing on pear-shapes! You can have the waist a bit higher if your torso is very long and it will make your legs look amazing! I am pear-shaped as well and I love summer print flare-skirts and jewel-coloured pleated midi skirts.
Personally, I would never go for bell-bottom pants. Wouldn't it look weird to have strong thighs and strong flared calves as well? Your legs would look like stumps... Rather go for loose high-waisted pants darted in at the waist and with tapered calves, I think.
Thank you. Again, you are so kind. Happy trails.
I'm so glad i stumbled across your channel today! thank you for the great tips!

Thanks for this video! Was so helpful!
Love this video! I am a pear shape and wear mostly boat neck and off the shoulder tops. I also wear either a statement necklace or long earrings. I wear scarves all the time and platform shoes. Thanks for telling me I am doing everything right.
Very helpful Justine, thank you very much, you have enlightened me! I'm taking notes! Some of the things form this video I was feeling them, but some not, and were bugging me. Now it makes sense. I started watching you as a TV series. You are a pleasant person and your channel just feels natural! Good luck!
I can't wait to cull my wardrobe with this in mind!
