Little tips to help improve:
1. It's usually going to take longer than 4-5 minutes. Perhaps 8-10 minutes, depending on serving size.
2. Do not crush or mince the garlic, leave it whole or cut into halves. It preserves the flavor and doesn't leave you with burnt garlic residue.
3. After you strain the potatoes, place on cutting board or paper towels right side up, and season then. This holds the seasoning better onto the potatoes and gives it a much better rustic look at the end.
4. After adding the butter, tip the pan and baste the potatoes while they're facing up. That little basting adds a lot more flavor and accelerates the cooking process.
Before I get backlash because Ramsay is, of course, the superior chef, these are merely suggestions on a side dish I've been making for over 20 years.
Harold Davidson and 4.????????

all tips are good more than one way to do anything ... oh the choices
+Harold Davidson I haven't even tried this recipe yet but my first thought was "Only 5 minutes?" I like my potatoes to be very soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.

Wait, which side of the potatoes should face up? The flat, or round side?
I just recently started learning how to cook through UA-cam videos and I've since gained a lot of respect for Ramsey. I used to think he was a pompous jerk but his culinary expertise and passion for food is inspiring!
exact same situation here llol
using some of his techniques my food actually taste better. make the best scrambled eggs with his style. potatoes always fire
The man holds 3 Michelin stars. He may have a temper but it spawns from his passion for culinary perfection.
Also, congrats on picking up the knife! I wish you the best on your culinary ventures!

forgot to boil the potatoes... I can already imagine Gordon screaming "This is f*cking RAW"
you can microwave them until they are 195 degrees.
I can hear him saying " DONKEY!"
Same fam same
Yup. Last nights half raw dinner's why I'm here 🤣.

Who ARE you
A sandwich!!!!!!
The weak shall fear the strong
Apparently he’s a very charming man
This is my favourite way to cook potatoes. A mix of fried and roasted. A perfect accompaniment to Steak!
looks yummy - have to try potatoes with rosemary, we almost always use parsley :-) when cooking potatoes
Once you have tried Rosemary you will never go back to parsley.
Under 2 minutes, 👍👍ever other channel it takes 30 minutes.
Today i made a roast chicken, I used the oil on the bottom to make the saute potatoes. It is so good.
Ramsey is so amazing!
I can't believe how simple that all is. Can't wait to try it! =)
This was actually the video that ignited my love for cooking while I was in uni in 2012. Thanks for uploading. Strange to think that this video changed my life :)
I've made this recipe countless times, and yes it take more then 4-5 minutes to boil the potatoes. For me, I used golden buttered potatoes which is similar to the ones in the video, if not then they are the same... I boiled the potatoes for about 20 minutes then did all the stuff he did and the potatoes taste wonderful. The butter gives the potatoes a beautiful nut brown color and gives it a buttery moist outer coating. Overall, a must have side dish if you are having steak!
How long do you keep them face down before flipping then?
I made these for me and my Moma and used the purple fingerling potatoes, must say they where delicious. I follow the direction to the T and they came out great. Thanks for the upload!
Lovely alternative to trite potato dishes! Struggled finding potato type best for this dish in here in Norway but elsewise Gordon makes awesome videos easy to follow regardless of skills or level of experience! Thumbs up!
I have been trying to figure out how to make this on my own for years finally gave up and looked for help
Glad I did
he has an amazing way of explaing how and why certain things are done. like for example, i would have taken the skin off my potatoes but since he said that they will fall apart, then i keep the skin on
Yes, u r right. I will surely cook these. Thank you!
Looks awesome! Thanks again for the help mr. Ramsey.
Sounds easy & delicious! Thanks!!!

Sauté potato is my favorite style of potato dishes.
I love to put cheese and baked union rings on it.....also one spice that is absolutely needed on top is oregano!
Wow they looked really nice😋😋
thanks for the information.
garlic adds so much flavor it's amazing.
LOVE IT.
This looks delicious
Sensational!
It looks rather easy to be honest. Your in your own kitchen and its very simple to follow and adding ingredients is simple and cooking wise. Serve at your own leisure.
I will probably go and burn the kitchen down when I go and try this now lol!
Oh man that looks delicious.
I appreciate the cooking tips Gordon Ransay. Sometimes my food burns on the outside before it cooks thoroughly on the inside. I'm not a very good cook, but I'm learning. I also imagine you yelling at my cooking. But I'm not afraid of you.😊 Oh and i haven't yet learned to cut with the blade touching my knuckle, it makes me nervous.
I made these tonight, and I don't want to eat potatoes any other way now lol, they were so good.
I search any meal and type Ramsay. I was never disappointed. Thanks Ramsay.
DAMN Gordon.........Simple and gorgeously yummy !!!!
And those potatoes look terrific too!! 😉❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
this is a fantastic recipe, i did this without the butter and thyme, with spring onions. I forgot to use salted water to boil and i ended up kind of having to marinade the potatoes it but it still tasted great.
Yummy! I did these
I tried it and WOW JUST WOW
Chef Ramsay 👏👏
Was looking for a different way to make potatoes but I’m not disappointed
I did the potatoes 🥔 and they came out really good 😌

oooooh, i see, thank you. ill give it another shot!
I'm from Ashton under Lyne in Lancashire (now in Australia) and I have to admit that, for whatever reason, I love potatoes in any shape or form but these Saute'd or Fondant or roasted do it for me. Love you Gorden.
I am from the North of England now in the South you probably love potatoes because of a Celtic background.
@@kathryngannon485
They taste really good as does rice because our bodies crave such things because in the wilds humans would have rarely got to eat them.
Issue today is people eat too much carbohydrates.
I forgot to smack my hands toghther before I started the fire department is on there way
I love his cooking.............and his shirt.
YUM!
I just made these and there is absolutely nothing that comes close! @gordon ramsay you are my hero!
gotta try it
This a gamechanger..
Your the man
i just try that,,its cooking right now,,hope it taste good hihi
My husband loved these the butter made it super good definitely try! I didn’t put them face down though.
You can fry them completely in butter as well with no oil. The key is to start with half the butter and then add in more later.
This is my new favorite potatoes
makin this right away
its RAW you donkey .
YES!!! that's what I had missing, a sidedish for my salmon.
Thanks
Thank you! They are fabulous and easy to make, thanks to your easy recipe.
just cooked russet potatoes sliced in 4 and i gotta say,i did not realize that the potato skin(which i never cooked with) was what made them taste so damn good
my grandmother taught me same recipe but we never added garlic or rosmary though. anyway, butter or margarine would do the job the best. i failed cuz didnt boil the potatoes well, so watch for that and have a fantastic dish !
As I'm cooking this, I imagine Ramsay yelling at me the whole time. I definitely didn't do it as good as him! I'm cooking too many potatoes at once! >:0
WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU *Bleep* DONKEY! YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO STEAM THEM BEFORE PUTTING THEM IN THE FRYING PAN!...THERE IS NO SALT ON THESE You bloody idiot. Don't forget the salt ;D
they still RAW what are you doing Ah f^%% me.
***** How are they raw? He par boiled them, then fried them!
TheScouseassassin think he was adding to the joke
Joshua Roberts shut it and all of you FUCK OFF. YOU USELESS SACK OF WANKY DANKY FUCK
It's not fair how easy he makes this look....
yum yum first ever simple decent video is seen
Amazing I found a good side dish for my steak 🥩
This is simple but he makes it so intense
nicely dish
Also add some minced parley and lemon zest for more flavor.
That looks sick!
If you ate five big platefuls it would make you sick I normally stop at about three platefuls.
My favorite chief😜
I think it's much better to cut the potatoes in thirds instead of halves and boil them a bit longer. Make sure to add the garlic towards the very end or it will burn up!
Lmao why are you teaching him?
It depends on the size of your spuds
@@brobot7695he’s right tho I think
Fu***n' spectacular, sir! 😄
damnn.... Gordon u r the best... tried it for da first time.... amazing results..!! and yes it beats all potato starters any day...!!!
wow really easy
The Only 1:55 Of Ramseys Life Without Getting Pissed Off..
u got me there hahah
Hellz yeah
Gonna try this tomorrow, thanks gordan
It is at first but with practice, you can learn to cook at this speed with ease pretty easily. Mise en place helps. You can cook faster if everything is laid out and organized and ready to use.
I love u gordon!!
Love from Philippines!😘
