Honestly i liked Ponors routine the best..so elegant and genuinely artistic..not let me throw in these dance elements while i think about my next pass. That said Ally Raismans athleticism is astounding.

Check the Starting note: Raisman 6.5 vs Ponor 6.2 and Also check the technical part of each element. Sometimes gymnasts put in very difficult elements and are forced to do them correctly, not only that they fall well but also the posture of the body and legs, of the arms, height of the jump, and so on. If they put in a difficult element and technically they don't do it as dictated, the penalties are higher.
Although Alyia’s routine was not as difficult, I found her form on most of her skills to be better executed than Catalina’s. The only exception are her twisting skills which she breaks form but I though her routine was elegant and well deserving of 3rd. I think Aly Raisman’s routine was a the clear winner based off difficulty, athleticism, and her form was honestly really great in this final! This was her best floor performance with this routine and was deserving of gold!
Cătălina Ponor is the winner of my heart. She had everything 💚 her moves were so stylish, perfect landings, great difficulty, super music. Her floor routine was a piece of art, not a sport exercise. Queen 🥇

Catalina’s second pass was rife with deductions, especially for the two low landings; the judges absolutely hated that back tuck “connection” because it comes to a complete stop rather than rebounding. Aly had the smarter routine composition.

Everyone salty at Ponor losing should take note of the fact that her difficulty was downgraded by .2 and her execution was lower than Aly's by 1. Aly had a higher difficulty score from the jump anyways (6.5 > what should have been 6.4 for Ponor) so she still would have lost through execution.

Not really. Raisman just had such a higher difficulty, that even though Ponor's routine had mostly stuck landings, she would've had to have almost perfect form which is basically impossible during a floor routine.

I feel Catalina was cheated out of that gold medal. Her routine was cleaning with we'll stuck landings and from just watching her routine you can see that it was indeed more difficult and had a few bonuses that she picked up and executed wonderfully.
Ponor's second and third passes were not done cleanly. Especially the second one, her full twisting double was supposed to be a pike with straight legs.

Raisman ruined the quality of floor forever. Carey has managed to carry on that lack of artistry, terrible dancing and poor form. What ever happened to stuck landings. Douglas and Raisman truly ruined the artistic in artistic gymnastics.

Ponor was a complete artist and performer combined with technicality. Aly was just a fantastic jumper.
Raisman was young and did better tumbling. In the end she deserved the medal however Cata was beautiful.
