I remember that the crowd booed when her score said she was only second. She has such a strong presence and dances with such a composure.
Yes! I remember that too. The crowd was SO not into that score.
The terrible form on that triple is probably why.
Richard Carnegie I know right, I get she wanted to have an E skill but her triple twist was always helicopterish. Probably better to do a double tuck sometimes.
Her D score was no where near Raisman's that would've been a tall order
Alexandra Raisman, was just better, with her difficulty, Catalina ponor didn't stand a chance
The fact that she performed a medal-worthy floor routine with ALL stuck landings, especially after just losing bronze medal on beam to Raisman on the same day makes this performance especially iconic for me.
Not her triple twist though. I might be wrong.
@@sakshamvarshney5456 it was stuck
I’ll even say gold medal worthy
True. Raisman’s routine was just poorly executed compared to this one. If they deducted so strictly on flexed feet during her time she wouldn’t even win gold.
@@TJ-bd5iq it's because railman is American. the execution and the dance skills? Ponor should've won the gold. the BOOS explained why.
I love Ponor for showing what experience and maturity can bring to a routine. This was lovely choreography with incredible tumbling.
With the sole exception of her triple full. Her form was horrible
Sally Daniel Absolutely, I don’t think any gymnast or routine is without error. I don’t think that detracts too much for the quality of the performance and she certainly deserved her medal.
@@demetriromano565 Agreed. I love Catalina. She was a great gymnast and I always loved her beam work
she represents not only Romania but also an artistic generation of gymnastics.
ea reprezintă nu numai România, ci și o generație artistică de gimnastică
ksenia, mustafina, komova, sanne, eythora

She was robbed !
I love Catalina, but she’s more of a power gymnast than artistic imo
@@Sarah-eh7bw Catalina is very artistic but powerfull too this is necessary a combination between grace and power.
I didn't regret watching this.If she ever fall from a plane,i'm sure she will touch down perfectly.
LOLOLOL agreed
Look at all those stuck landings. WOW!
Reminds of Sandra Izbasa's 2008 Olympics floor performance and its sticks, too.
Sorry, I must have missed your performance. Would you link it?
@@Dasimers google "Sandra Izbasa 2008 olympics Floor"
The classic Romanian charm. In terms of consistency they are second to no one.
@@kp395 which is how they ruled for so long. UB for example. Not their strong event. They got up, did very similar routines and the bare minimum, for lack of a better term, but they hit hit and hit. But second to no one is no more
Catalina is a holdout from an era when composed routines mattered more than specific elements or connections. She was an artist rather than a jumping bean.
This is precisely why Romania has struggled the last 16 years. They seem to be waiting for the tides to change when artistry will count more than execution of the skills. The US, Brazil, Great Britain and France have adapted their trainings to the new standards and focus on sound basics for execution and then increase difficulty.
God knows how much I love this performance. Ponor, forever one of the absolutely best!
❤️
Everything about this floor routine is absolutely wonderful!
Catalina Ponor is simply ART and one of the most beautiful gymnasts I have ever seen 💜💜💜
So many great floor routines were in London! Catalina's one was definitely a crown jewel
Ponor was a joy to watch in London. It was such a shame there was no Romanian team in Rio and she faltered in event finals.
It was such a beautiful performance, I remember how much the crowd loved it
She is the absolute best, mature gymnastic ever. Tired of her being under scored by political hacks
That stuck DLO honestly gave me life... So fn amazing
Gorgeous!!
Much better than Raisman who added a leap instead of showing a stuck landing 🙄
@@CountryCowboy008 still won
Catalina Ponor stuck that triple twist. I've never seen a gymnast do it with such ease.
why she did not win this? her performance is so out of this world
politics. she's not American.
Her difficulty value was much lower than Raisman's.
@@takoyaki8890 No, it had to do with the scoring rules: Raisman had a higher start value.
@Cendrillon Daniela No, the judges were fair on this one: it had nothing to do with results from previous finals.
Aly Raismans routine had a higher start value which put Ponor at a disadvantage from the start. If both gymnasts had the same execution score then Raisman would win being that her difficulty value was higher. Even before the competition Ponor knew that Aly would have had to make some mistakes in her routine and Ponor be near perfect in hers to Pull off winning the gold 🥉.
That spin was the best I've seen ever in gymnastics.
Innovative, artistic, powerful - this routine should have got gold.
For me, she is the best of the 21st century. She is the most daring and artsy of all.
the best floor exercise of all time
she deserved gold
Cata is always our queen! That performance was stunning!! I really miss her
That's why she's the 2004 Olympic Gold medalist!
The most beautiful gymnast 🖤 my favorite for ever, Queen Catalina
Most beautiful gymnast ever.
@@user-hv9ec3eg8e eu sei :)

For me, she won. That was it.
Her elements are not as highly rated as Raisman! the judging needs to be changed as she is a lot more beautiful and graceful gymnast than Raisman.
Gorgeous! She should have won the Gold medal.
Such a beautiful gymnast, I always love her routines!
I never heard of her. Stuck landings, goddesslike full body flips, twists. Unbelievable. Is she human or from another planet ?
Really?Catalina Ponor is a great champions since 2003 when she got 2 silver medals at World then in 2004 she got 3 gold medals at Olimpics she is multiple European Champions 5 times on beam and floor also.
She was amazing, the queen of Athens 2004.🥇🥇🥇
And to see her back here in 2012 and then again in 2016...SHE'S A LEGEND!!!!
Um ok she is incredible. Yea im just gonna go try to motivate myself to walk on the treadmill for a half hour. Seriousley what a great dancer and she could do it all. Gorgeous too.
This is, what we call "artistic gymnastics"
So was sooooo underscored. Even the crowd knew it, booing the judges.
Almost no visible mistakes, maybe in the twisting element, abit of separated knees and crossed feet.
PERFECT 180degress splits, beautiful artistry.. don't understand where they found a full point in deductions.
short 0.4 from a tie with raisman.. I'm shocked this wasn't a 9.7-9.6E score. absolutely stunning.
Robbed a gold!
Oh come on. This was brilliant, but she must have lost .4 in the triple twist alone for legs crossed at the ankles, knee separation, bent knees, and the shuffle on the landing. She also underrotated the quad turn and had flexed feet on both piked elements, plus an obvious leg separation on the full-in piked. I would take .8 instead of a full point, but it’s not enough to beat Raisman. There’s a reason we don’t let crowds score elite gymnastics.
@@demetriromano565 That triple twist is 0.1 for leg crossing and 0.1 for bend knee. And the landing is a stuck one.
@@demetriromano565 There is a reason why the Russian and Romanian gymnastics are always remembered. It was never only about to get the higher score, but to enchant the audience. That's why they are myths, even though they do not get the gold medal, instead of the Americans....
Felipe Peixoto I think the best remembered Soviets and Romanians did win medals. I’m too young to have watched gymnastics before the 90s, but my parents talk about Korbut, Comăneci, Silivas, Shushunova, and Dawes, all Olympic gold medalists. Unfortunately gymnasts who don’t make it that far often don’t become legends- take Groshkova or Mostepanova, who the general public don’t know. The real legends brought it all together in artistry, form, difficulty, and enchantment.
Before I followed gymnastics, the routines I remembered were Izbasa’s and Cheng’s in ‘08 and the top four in ‘12, which are all wonderful in different ways. The one my friends and family remember most from 2016 is Hernandez’s, which was a totally different kind of artistry that still draws everyone watching it in.
Basically, just expression doesn’t make you a legend- how many people have heard of Dobre, Grishina, or Lieke Wevers, besides gym nerds? Neither does just tumbling and form- no one really talks about Amanar’s or Johnson’s floor at this point. It’s the combination that gets you remembered, and that isn’t restricted to country in the slightest.
Incredible... ♥️♥️♥️♥️
The sound of that double layout is so satisfying.....go, Ponor
sorry railman but this is def an iconic and memorable floor that year. the class, the grace, the difficulty... love it.
The queen!!!!!
2x Olympic Champion on The Floor Event: 2004, 2012
She won Silver at the 2012 games. Aly Raisman won the Gold
SHOULD’VE WON GOLD
I could watch this routine all day everyday ❤️❤️❤️
Arrasou, nunca me canso de Assistir esse vídeo, uma apresentação belíssima... 💓💓🇧🇷🇧🇷
Outstanding routine by queen Catalina
One word, WOW!
Catalina Ponor is queen on floor!!!
Score?
Matt Harms Raisman actually got a higher execution score, and Catalina had a 15.2
Catalina Ponor was scintillating hot! THE REAL OLYMPIC CHAMPION! This routine was well choreographed, difficult and fascinating.
this was an excellent routine, however aly raisman thoroughly deserved the gold. her difficulty score was higher by about .3. that was roughly how much she won by. :)
Gael Garcia Bernal Yeah but her execution in the twists tumbling passes was horrendous. That’s the main reason why she didn’t get gold.
Arath Gomez agreed, that full in pike out & triple twist were a mess, however I really enjoyed the stuck landings
Vanessa, Arath and Jor: It's my opinion and shared by many. Her triple twist had execution issues. However, Aly Raisman had dance, choreography, execution, form and amplitude issues. Catalina was enticing with her technical and artistic routine. Aly was all robotic difficulty, so insipid and uninteresting.
@@gaelgarciabernal2434 Eu te amo !
This is more amazing considering that this performance came right after her very disappointing performance on the beam final where she was expected to medal.
Definitely incredible. My favourite routine during the floor final
The landings were perfect.
She is amazing.
William from Brasil, Catalina ponor love you...
The grace.The landings.The womanliness.The Execution🎉🎉❤❤❤ are all lovely
she’s a legend
I love this! Way better than today's gymnasts.
Much better and artistic than Raisman...
Amazing routine, I love ♥️♥️♥️
agree
Go Catalina 🇷🇴 ❤️ All those dislikes are from wannabe “gymnasts” who never made it
WE MISS YOU QUEEN
I remember I was surprised at her 2nd place. Refereeing in London was very biased.
Not at all, Raisman’s difficulty was much higher and definitely earned her the gold medal. Raisman nailed every pass as well and her form was better than Ponor’s
@@tannernel Ponor's difficulty was no worse. Choreography and presentation of these gymnasts of absolutely different levels. What Raisman did can hardly be called "gymnastics". She could just do acrobatics 4 times and she was given a gold medal.
@@tannernel In general, the judges were disgusting in London, some of the worst. And more often they shared medals, not athletes.
@@nicolais.4307 obviously you know nothing about modern day gymnastics. I feel bad that you are making yourself look like a fool saying that Ponors and Raisman’s difficulties were the same. Go watch the entire event final and then come back and talk to me when you’re actually educated on the subject at hand. Thanks
@@tannernel What I don't understand about modern gymnastics? To win you only need to be able to tumble and nothing more. With more objective judging, Ponor would have received +0.2 for her Gomez. And her presentation was level 2 higher than Raisman's. Ponor is the whole package. Raisman can only tumble and chasse.
BUT since the Olympics were in England, the more “right” countries got more “correct” results.
Best floor ever!
Fantastic Catarina Panor 👍😍
Ponor > Raisman
Raisman 🥇 Catalina 🥈
You're crazy
Woww, this was amazing!!!
Those whips are superhuman
Shes was The Real Gold Medalist on floor , raisman was disgusting, Ponor execution was flawless
Miguel Salas I mean her form on the twist was pretty bad
aly deserved her win please
When the execution score shoots past the roof!! 😍✈️
Catalina Nailed It!!!
She should’ve ranked 1 and won Gold
Unfortunately her elements were not rated as difficult as Raisman but she has so much more grace and balletic moves than Raiman. The judging needs to be changed! I agree that she should have won and we are not the only ones feeling this way.
She did not come to play 💅
She came to THROW down.
Winner in every way
This is too perfect 💯
Catalina Poor was robbed of the gold medal. The judges gave the gold medal to Aly but nobody will remember her routine.
much better than the US one
Fada romena, cristal sem defeitos...
Romanian fairy, flawless cristal....

Those landings so stuck they need a life coach.
Impressed how her managed everything. Same back in Athen 2004

Way better than Simone Biles in London and Rebecca Andrade in Paris. Incredible injustice that this performance was not awarded with gold. We miss you,Katalina. She may be the GOAT but this is your gold. ❤❤❤🥇🥇🥇🥇
Amazing...I Hope Romania may replace soon in Gymnastic...Bravo Katalina
I'm praying for Romania to climb back up ! Idk what went wrong but the sport is not the same without them
wow she is good perfect 10☮️💟➖

Catalina and Knesia (apart from her last landing) gave THE BEST floor routine over the past decades. Such grace and maturity.
