    Great video. Another tricky thing about porosity is that you can have several different porosities in one head of hair.

      You most likely need to cut your hair, not a trim but a cut to get rid of all the dead/split/raggedy ends. This will allow your hair to retain length as it grows.

      Is a big chop necessary for you? Some people do a big chop and it was not necessary. Unless if your hair has been damaged by perms, dyes, too much heat, etc then don't big chop. If you have some length then go from there. When I was growing out my hair the kinky twists worked well for me. 4c hair seems to love twists. Also, stay away from weaves. Very few people actually keep up with hair care when their hair is in a weave. Get rid of heat altogether. Throw out those perms. Also pray ❤

    • @kovertt2869
      @kovertt2869 4 роки тому +5

      love always I agree with the praying part. I feel like one of the few things that helped my face clear up and my hair grow noticeably enough, was when I was praying to God and telling him how thankful I was for my hair, and skin. I know that might sound crazy, but being appreciative and saying positive things about the stuff you need work on instead of constantly hating it, could make a huge difference.

    Another tip if you don’t want to wash your hair with hot water, you can rinse your hair with warm or cold water and invest in a steamer. I bought a face steamer off amazon for about $30 and I use it for my hair. While steaming apply your leave in conditioners, moisturizers etc. on the moist hair. It soaks the products up sooooo well! & after your normal wash and conditioning you can plug your steamer up and apply the products while it’s under the steamer and twist up your hair. I swear my hair loves it, but this is advice for my LOW POROSITY HAIR naturals.

      I’m high porosity and apparently it’s fairly ok to be. Our hair does tangle easily but any product we put in our hair it benefits from as long as the product isn’t harmful because it drinks it up. Also our hair dries much quicker and we don’t have to sit under dryers for products to penetrate which are also a plus. All we need is a plastic cap and about 15 min because that product penetrated our hair the moment we put it in!!! Hi give to the high po girls🙌🏾. And if you type in high porosity hair care there are naturals that’s will come up who are high po’s. Hope this helps luv☺️

    I been trying to figure out this porosity by doing all kinds of test. After seeing your video and doing the strand test. I am mostly low porosity. I always wondered why I can put in layers of moisturizer (LOC) before my hair starts having slippage-this is after a plastic cap and one hour of deep conditioning. All makes sense now.

    • @pamelamccants2877
      @pamelamccants2877 3 роки тому

      If your hair is low porosity then it’s best to do the LCO ( liquid,cream,oil) method, not the LOC method. I had to Google it. I started getting better results by doing this and also with low porosity hair you got to deep condition after every shampoo with a plastic cap under heat for 20-30 minutes then rinse with cool water to close pores and lock in moisture. The heat opens up the hair cuticles. High porosity hair cuticles stay open but those of us with low porosity hair have to use heat to open up the hair cuticles after shampooing when deep conditioning. I started doing this and my hair is really thriving. Also, get a shampoo brush which stimulates blood flow to the scalp and encourages hair growth.

      egg treatment and rice water are protein treatment. A no no for low porosity hair espcially if they are coarse. You need steam, humectant and avoid protein. Sometimes oils and butters don't agree with low porosity. You can try the 30 days hair detox challenge from black gurl curls

      She said to do the conditioning after the protein especially if you're low porosity.

    In a earlier video you said not to wash your hair in hot water but lukewarm or cold.

      Follow channels of HP YTers like Afro Khadisiac, nappyheadedjojoba, JonellSequiraXO, NaturalReign etc. Also informational/DIY/ayurvedic channels such as Greenbeauty, Naptural85, CurlyProverbs, Viola, DiscoveringNatural, Back2NaturalGirls, NaturalBarnet, nowiamnappy, heykeonehair, yaya, DuchessGabrielle, etc. According to Greenbeauty, an HP hair regimen needs to focus on protein treatments, products with mucilage, anti-dryness and extra TLC. Wash day: I wash every 2 weeks for hydration and clean scalp. Pre-poo with aloe vera gel and coconut oil. Shampoo with African black soap, an HP shampoo like Sheamoisture mongongo hemp, or your shampoo mixed with ACV and water. Always deep condition on wash day!!! Alternate between moisturizing and strenghtening wash days. Protein treatments/Protein deep conditioners DIY: the Greenbeauty one, gelatine mask, mask with moringa powder, irish moss, yogurt, avocado, eggs, banana, mayonaise. Strengtening DIY glosses with conditioner and henna or cassia or fenegreek are also good. Or storebought DCs with focus on moisturizing or strengthening ingredients: look for oils, butters, aloe vera, ACV, protein in the ingredients list. Products with mucilage/slip: aloe vera gel/juice, irish moss, marshmallow root, slippery elm, fenegreek, flaxseed/oatmeal/chia seed gel. Anti-dryness: moisturize with loc (liquid, cream, oil/butter) or lcao (liquid, cream, aloe vera gel/juice, oil/butter) method. In the last step, seal with heavy butters/oils like castor oil and shea and/or mango butter. Lighter oils for thin strands are grapeseed, almond, jojoba oil. Focus extra on the ends with all products so they don't break off. Shut the cuticle afterwards with ACV spritz. Massage scalp every 2-3 days with a mix of penetrating oils like olive, avocado, coconut oil. If you infuse fresh aloe vera leaf bits or ajurvedic herbs in it with the double boiler method your hair will grow even faster! Give your hair extra TLC by finger detangling, sleeping with satin or silk bonnets/pillow cases, twisting/braiding yiur hair to reduce tangles, not using sharp hair accessories, and leaving it alone with protective styles but well maintained. I hope this helps fellow strugglingtokeepthemoisturein HP gals:) !
