I love how you just put together a day like that in a video. Also that you had to be there at 4, and then you were late, but you were actually early. And videos like this are fun to watch, just cause it's neat to see you going somewhere, even you end up just sitting there when you get there.
22:00: You need to get into the habit of ALWAYS pulling up to the lip of the trailer, then lower it down until it's not only touching the 5th wheel saddle, put also resting on it a bit. Then, when you back under, you know that the landing gear is off the ground, and you can quickly wind it up. Also, older 48' trailer had the kingpin set closer to the nose by a full foot. I've seen everything from a 3' setback on an old 'curved nose' 40' trailer to a full 6' setback on an experimental 57' trailer Swift was using in California hooked to a special daycab about 30 years ago.
This was a great video. I am in the process of getting mine. Just finished my 160 hours at the academy in El Paso but due to a family emergency I had to pause my testing. 160 hours? Damn how long is it in total? I had my license in 50 hours driving lessons, 3 theoretical exams and 3 practical exams. That's truck and trailer in the Netherlands, my country. You can do about half the driving lessons and 1 practical exam less, but then you can only drive boxtrucks.

No stop sign from the right, likely due to the fact that drive aisle is coming from the main entrance at the road into the development, and DOT requires incoming traffic to not have a stop condition, so that the cars can get off of the main road quickly, and not que (or back up) into the main st. causing traffic issues from cars entering the development.

Hey Alex, on some trailers the placement of the kingpin plate may be further up than some, that's the reason why your trailer wasn't as close to the truck like you normally see it.

How are you doing ❤❤❤ .
I spent 5 years traveling/living in Latin America and plan to teach Spanish with my degree. However, I am going to be driving for a year, or two so that I can pay all my loans. In this way, an educator's wage will be livable.
I was hired by Yellow in May 2023. You all know what happened and they cancelled my class at the academy.
I have since found a smaller company (160 drivers) and it's wonderful! I will be sharing updates on my channel soon.
Wanna talk about light freight the heaviest I’ve had with my company not running doubles was like 8,000 lbs of freight 😂
Remember my old job Spanish interpreter traveling trying find Damm clinic and food. No joke once you have a traveling job and see how the simple life like cooking or normal bed is priceless a huge reason left my old job and now working at home for hospitals Spanish interpreter. Had to travel to Kansas, Missouri diff days of the week and then back home to Nebraska, rarely send to south Dakota but I don't miss the mess looking for a address lol. Your great trucker. Read the comments. This young man's channel is about his life on the road. He never said he was a pro seasoned driver. Like many people in life we have a lot to learn. If he sticks to it he should become a good driver.

I’m currently in cdl program to get my cdl license, wish me luck!
oh that's amazing! good luck! one safety tip my instructor gave me was to look at the intersections on the bridges to see if there are cars turning right and merging onto the highway. if you think you're gonna be too close to the car merging onto the highway just move into the left lane. this tip gives you a couple extra seconds to move which really makes a difference
