Great Video as usual! Worried for the next one now! Cliffhanger!!
Good work getting that out and then in so quick! Next video looks ominous...
Hats off to you for doing this on your own Bryn… that is a big job . 🤞 it runs well after that effort.
I wish it was that simple….. all to be revealed in the next vid!
Let’s goooooo!
TT master machanic Bryn, great vid 👍👍
Makes the 1.8t seem so easy to work on
You’re not wrong!
Amazed at how fast you swapped those Bryn! Did you get a read on the chains for the new engine? I just changed the mechatronic on my v6 and it was a PITA, can’t imagine full engine
Youll see in the next video bud
Great video looking forward to the next part!
Coming soon!
I have always thought its amazing they fit this engine in the TT, but this video shows why, must be a mechanics nightmare? Or not because a good earner?
Oh for christ sake the end of this video has upset me.
Oh God, why did you have to end the episode like that?? I'm so sick of you having bad luck. 😢😭
Me too….. bare in mind that this was literally on the day the elderberry got collected 😂
@@BWSTT CAN THIS MAN CATCH A BREAK ALREADY
👍
That was not a one man job! Excellent work to pull that off …..
Thanks 👍
Taking an engine out looks very difficult
It’s not when you’ve got the right kit, its just a tight squeeze and the crane i was using had a mind of its own and didn’t roll how i needed it to
I know this is probably an impossible question to answer but what do you think would be an average reading on a 110K mileage car ? Is there there any kind of average stretch that occours over a certain amount of miles/years ? i.e. if it was already at 4/4 readings - how long/how many miles would it take to get to a point when the chains are deemed knackered ?!
It is an impossible one to answer- the biggest impact is from oil servicing, so if you do it way sooner than recommended you can slow down the rate of deterioration.
I would love a V6, but I’m not regretting getting the 1.8t. Not that I plan on changing the entire engine any time soon, it just seems a lot more spacious in the engine bay for things like hands, and tools.
Yeah, the reality is this; the 1.8 has more room, but you need the room, because there are more jobs that need doing. The v6 has leas room, but barely ever needs to be worked on
The music during 5:47 was just a TAD too loud. It was hard to hear you a bit. The next musical sped up bit was much much better.
Will take that on board, i think i changed that by accident when adjusting something else
From an expert..i have an opportunity to buy some parts cars with 6 Speed tranny. Mine is currently a 1.8 5 Speed...would this be a straight swap without too much problems? Thank you good Sir! 🍻
If its Quattro 5 speed then the swap to Quattro 6 speed is simple, just need to change the selector and cables, and the gearbox.
@@BWSTT Good info, thank you.
Hope it’s finished before Christmas man get that thing in there 🎉
It will be ready soon!
Great work m8
At 4:18 just to the right of your finger is that blasted Oil Pressure sensor that was possibly the biggest pain in the backside to access! Bring back the rubber pointy hand! Nice video! The papaya lives on!
Yeah its a right faff in situ! Green finger will be making a return soon
great job quickly like a pro im sure u already fix the problems or at least find the isue..im wondering if v6 r32 engine can fit on 1.8 if u got everything ecu wires etc..
Need to swap out transmission as well, the bell housing bolts don't match up.
Great job, would be nice to see you doing the chains as I'm thinking of doing mine as there on -6 and -7
It’s happening soon
Cliffhanger! 👍
That was a bit epic! not looking forward to getting my chains done! Well done for getting it in and running although, the end of the vid doesn't sound to good!
Wait til you see the parts list and prices…..
@@BWSTT Oh dear, would it have been best to just change the chains on your original engine?
8 plus or minus 2 equals 10
You was at 7 and 10
That's perfectly fine
No….. both readings have to be within 2 of each other….
@@BWSTT that makes more sense 😆
Yeah i didnt make it very clear in the intro 😂
After seeing the last bit of the video, I hope it wasn't a bad engine you've just swapped in. Worse chain slack than the one you took out?
All i can say at this point, it was sold to me as a -3/-4 engine….
@@BWSTT Your wording suggests it's not as you were sold. That's very disappointing to hear if correct. :(
Moral of the story, while the engine is out, just do the chain kit. I'd never just swap an engine without first going through it to make sure its correct.
@@Claire-bu2qm my reasoning was time, I was trying to get the car done in a day, to make it to a show, but clearly that didn’t pan out 😂 having seen a report for the engine i was happy to take the chance…. Less happy now of course 🤣
@@BWSTTlesson learned i hope. Though I can't talk, I'm getting a garage to do my chains as I don't have a crane nor the space to wield it.
I did swap a 1.8T a few years back though, that was "running mint" acc to the seller. Except the cam journals and crank bearings were scored to hell. Glad I took the extra 3 hrs while it was out of the car to inspect and fix anything.
