Russ from the beginning of your channel your advantage has been clear. Treat people right and it will pay off 10x. Back a while ago you talked about a processor and you couldn't do that because kevin and gramp rely on the income. That proves just how much you care about them and in retrun they will do their best for you and their best is as good as it gets! Congratulations on your advantage!

Awesome video Russ. I have a family owned and operated firewood business. We sell around 100 cords a year and 90% of it we deliver and stack. Thats what sets us apart from other firewood guys in my area. Most guys wanna dump and run and most of my clients are older or burning for recreational purposes and want no part of the labor. My unfair advantage is my wife and teenage children. We are blessed to be able to home school our children and they love to be outside working in the wood yard and helping with deliveries. It teaches them to have a good work ethic, keeps us all together and our business continues to grow.

treat people right is the best ya can do for any service company.. my advantage since the mid 90's was i had enough propert for 6 to 10 tree services to dump there wood at my place. and most of the tree guys have been doing 3 to 5 tree jobs a week.. other thing is i live around farm country and what really got me going was i was taking down 1/2 mile line fence trees of popular in the late 90's.. 280 to 310 trees in a half mile and usually did 30 to 40 rows a year for farmers and that started bundle wood for campgrounds way back than.. now in texas so going to get something else a going with the blow down trees from last summers hurricane.. and yes it takes people to run a company now depending on big ya want to go with it.. i pay a guy to run the internet sales from mn for the pizza oven wood we do up there and for down here too. and just keeping guys working is another chore in itself. keep on doing what ya do

Is a major advantage having the woodyard at home. Can work here and there when you can with rain showers, feeling yuck, etc. Can be working in the shop, rain stops so you can rush out to cut/split/stack, then run back inside if the rain picks up again. It's not firewood related but similar drive.
I work with my parents daily in ther company and over the last 25 to 30 years I have got to keep a lot of Rotary Engine cars on the road from supplying parts or just giving out technical help.
That alone for me is the drive. You can still go to the dealer and get lots of parts if your dealer if your dealer is willing to help you with parts, however, they don't always have the tech support.
Over the years, I have gotten to shake the hands of many from guys like me to those within Mazda who know who I am.
There are even a few Mazda's in a museum in Germany that have parts from our little shop here, and that's just cool.

If you had a small splitter around you could flip it vertical and quarter those big rounds real quick. Noodling is a last resort.

@@WilleysFirewood Thx BUTT how about keeping your gramps safe by use of professional protective gear. ? Those of us who use saws for harvesting firewood ( ( decades )know how fast accidents can get you, even with "all your years of chainsaw use without any protective gear". It's cheap insurance. BTW, we noodle all the time with large butts. Keep gramps alive. And, we usually do NOT cut in wet. JMNSHO
