I'm always so impressed with sushi rolling. I tried it once, did not go well 😅 I'm sure if I practiced I'd get better at it but, as we all know, I'm lazy so I'm more inclined to just make an onigiri instead as I have some moulds for them. My favourite bento this week? Has to be the two-tone Miffy sandwiches. They were a very cute idea. I also appreciate the meal-prep ideas as well; the more variety I have the less likely I am to get bored and get delivery to work 🤣

I needed this relaxing video after a very long week of work. I love the meal prep work, and the sandwiches are delicious! I need to make the broccoli and egg salad sandwich to make sure I eat more vegetables. Lovely and amazing work and I hope you're having a great weekend!

And it's early March but spring is already here where I am, the trees are already blooming and putting out leaves. The pollen is making my allergies go nuts, haha! It has been a very busy couple of months, and hopefully this coming week I find out if I got a new job I interviewed for last week.

The food you made looks good and actually can increase the apetit. My only issue is I do not like any kind of sea or fish food so I am skipping those parts. I have a very limited diet and the only meat I usually eat is chicken breast and some processed meat (salami, sausage, parizer). I am sure I would not survive a lot in Japan but your cooking skills are really good and I appreciate it. Take care and have a nice day / weekend!
If you like colourful pickles, I often make some by marinating small radishes, carrot slices and beetroot in vinegar with salt and sugar. The beetroot makes everything (including the vinegar!) bright red, and if you cut the carrots and/or beetroot into flowers before you pickle them, you have tasty and beautiful decorations ready to put on anything!
And just a bit of the vinegar can turn mayo or rice pink, so it's great for making pretty vinegar rice and colourful salads.

Yay! Another Hanako video! 😁 I've recommended your channel to a friend of mine, and I'm going to have to show this and the last one to another friend, so they know about cooking in a rice cooker. Other than cooking rice, of course 😁 I was wondering how Mr Tamagoyaki Pan was going to behave when I saw him 😂 I'm thinking of popping into Daiso today, and seeing what I can find 🙂 Then this evening I'll cook in my rice cooker 🙂 I'll look for Dashi stock and consommé there, as I can't find it in the local supermarkets, although I did find frozen peeled and sliced lotus root. Yay!!

I have an Asian supermarket near me, but I did see somewhere an ad for a Japanese supermarket, hopefully close 🙂 I'm not sure what I'll do with lotus root apart from putting it in soups or dipping it in batter and frying it. It'll need seasoning 😝 There's a chain of franchised Asian eateries called No1 Malatang. They usually have lotus root and I have that along with other ingredients in a laksa soup ☺ Sometime this week I'll be making omuhayashi ☺ I have a new, bigger air fryer, too 😋 I need also to buy smoked salmon for tamagoyaki 😁 I might try Nori with it, as well 🙂

So many vibrant veggies! I love chard, i grow some myself :) it's traditionally eaten with white fish and potatoes in my culture. To preseve colour: to my knowledge you already did the most effective thing to do. Try and cook them for as short of a time as you can. Where I am from we tend to stew it so I am used to a very dark green colour (and slimy texture) - it looks a bit unappealing so children do not tend to like it lol. But beautiful bentos as always, Hanako! It's funny you talk so soon in the video about comfort foods because I will cook a comfort meal today as well and was just thinking about it :) What's your favourite comfort meal? Maybe you could put the tuna seasoned with mayo on the bottom of the salad roll before rolling it, instead of on top?

A friend of mine says that steaming chard keeps their color, but I have never tried it
I tend to use it in salads and sandwiches and not cook it so that the color stays (because I get scared of losing the color too haha)
