Happy to see more of your content again :) Found your channel couple of years ago, I have just moved to Canada back in the day. After months of ups and downs I ended up as a dev tester in the big gamedev company everyone knows :) Almost year in now, cannot be happier with my job. I mentioned in the interview the impact of your channel on my QA self education lol. So yeah! Thanks for everything, keep on keeping on, and I'll just stay and watch, transitioned from wanna-be QA to actual QA.
Thanks so much! This means the world to hear. It's often hard to find motivation to work long hours, then come home to put in more work on videos. But comments like this make it all worthwhile. Thanks so much! PS: Thanks for shouting out the channel in your interview too! That made me really happy to hear!
Really cool timing, I am actually preparing to apply for my first QA position with a local game company and this channel has been such a useful resource for information! Thanks!
"I have a deep passion for Rockstar games. On July 20th, I had the opportunity to interview for a game tester position at Rockstar Games' India studio. I successfully passed the first round, which was focused on gaming, but unfortunately, I didn't make it through the second round, which was a grammar test. It was a heartbreaking moment for me.
Thank you for doing this. I am looking to get back into QA but there is nothing in my area, I am not in a gaming city. My next option is jobs is senior QA and development QA. I am currently learning how to code in Csharp and Unity. Do you have or will you make a video on what a DevQA (Development QA) does in the gaming industry? And what are different names for the job? I suppose Devops is another thing. @Game Tester Boot Camp
I hope to eventually cover that stuff, but DevOps is usually a completely different beast than the QA positions I've held. I hope to partner up with some other QA professionals soon in order to provide that kind of expertise. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later! PS: I'd recommend checking out "QA Underground". They are a group of QA pros that do a great job of helping people get into this profession. I'm sure they will have a lot of information that you'll find useful. :-)
@@GameTesterBootCamp I am glad to hear that. I am glad of the amount of resources available. I am in a city which have limited to no qa work, but maybe there is information underground. I will check the discord thank you.
Nice. Thank you for your insights ! I'm french and i'm 46y/o. Do you you know if my project of becoming an "only remote QA tester" is a viable option right now ? I'm planning to join a school in september and since my "network" is quite dry, i'm asking people on youtube lul.
Absolutely. Before spending money on any kind of schooling though, you might want to join the Discord Server for "Underground QA". They have a ton of great resources to help you get started. 😀
So if someone who is not experienced can I work in the QA department? I heard I don't have to be a programmer. But I need to be familiar with testing software. Or no need?
In my experience, you don't really need to be familiar with any particular software. The best thing is to get your "fundamentals" figured out. Finding and Documenting bugs. Most of that is proof-reading and making sure your bugs are clear to understand. Once you've got that figured out, that's about 80% of the job. It's mostly; Finding the bug, knowing what you're looking at, and describing it clearly (plus regression).
@@GameTesterBootCamp Thank you so much for your fast response. I would love to see if you can give us a demo for regression testing I would gladly pay for such content. Sadly, nowadays I am willing to work in gaming companies but all they look for are fresh and young graduates I do want to start a new career as QA. I played video games since atari and commodore 64 and they want to hire people fresh out of the eggshell who don't have deep knowledge in gaming history. I did contribute to ubisoft I contributed in making a piano concerto for heroes of might and magic the composer is Paul Romero. Anyways, if you have any plans in the future to go live and showing us demo I would love to learn from you I'd love to donate or subscribe weekly/monthly.
