As a 62 year old jazz dinosaur, life was becoming increasingly miserable and hopeless with the death of so many of my musical heroes, until I came across these two creatures a few years ago. I FUCKING LOVE THEM!!! To find an identity and musical "voice" is hard enough, but to be so utterly unique and engaged in another sphere, to sound different, to BE different - all whilst creating the dense and complex music that these two little wonders do is so completely heartening for the future of intelligent music (i dread to use the word "Jazz"). My only issue with them is that they don't output more. Listening to Louis and the adorable Genevieve ALWAYS puts me in a positive and happy state of mind. LONG MAY THEY CONTINUE TO BRIGHTEN OUR LIVES!!!
I love the way Genevieve sings. She does it with simplicity, free of any artificial complexities or mannerisms. And she nails that simplicity with a whole lot of musical sensitivity. It's very subtle, and I love that. Genevieve doesn't need or try to sound different, than her simple, natural, beautiful self. Way to go!
She's one of my favorite vocalist. I think if it was the early 80's she would be a huge pop hit but since the industry has become so refined all the creative bands are underground. I mean look at stuff like the B-52's and Eurythmics; they would be probably playing someone's basement if they came along today.
I'm so glad that Genevieve was born. I'm so glad that Louis was born. I'm so glad that they grew up and met each other. I'm so glad that they started a project together. Don't ever stop what you're doing. EVER!!!!!!!!
I started cracking up at 16:56 when Louis goes to sing "The Government Knows" and then his voice is completely dry with no effects just reading softly :D So hyped to see a Knower video this morning I missed the heck out of you guys. Much respect, Jah bless, Knower 2020.
It was so funny seeing chat explode @ porter robinsons online festival because the people that did not know knower were losing their mind over this song :' )
I am with you. I actually like this performance more than the recording. The lyrics take on a different character without the voice mod, it changes the meaning of the song. IMO, it's much funnier. On the album, with the voice mods, the character singing is in position of power. The character singing on the album sounds like he's the one doing the watching. He knows things you cannot comprehend. The live version, though, sounds more like it's coming from your weird-ass neighbor from the upstairs apartment . It puts more emphasis on the singer's weird obsession with being watched, rather than the absurdities of the US military industrial complex. It's like, "dude, I know, you think the CIA is watching you jack it. Please stop talking about this." Edited for clarity.
10:34 Louis Cole "preparing" for the next snare fill by playing the sextuplets in the air by the side of him. Good to know I'm not the only one who does this LMAO
I was soooo fortunate to be able to see Louis and Genevieve last December before all of this Covid bullshit happened. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life. Louis had a full "live sesh" band on stage with him (yes, including Jacob Mann and Sam Wilkes) and they were un-freaking-believable! I know that some of Vulfpeck was there (Jack Stratton, Cory Wong, and also Cody Fry) because they were hanging out and dancing right in front me. Louis and Gen, if you see this message, I just want to say Thank You so much! I'm sure I'm not the only one here who needed this to help brighten an otherwise dimly-lit Covid quarantined day.
Quinngermin same deal happened to man. I bought tickets for me and my friends right when they went on sale, but then I got an out of state college audition scheduled that day and couldn’t end up going. Thankfully though all my friends went and came back saying it was literally the greatest concert they had ever been to :P
I saw them in Leeds in the UK almost immediately before the lockdown. In hindsight it should maybe have been cancelled but I'm pleased I got to see him so close to home.
How the f*** can two people in their living room make a better concert in terms of music, lightning, production, etc. than 98% of the current big bands?
@JM Coulon Music is no longer audio-only. To make it today, you have to be visually interesting, and Knower is one of this practice's more economical executors. That is, they do a lot with a little. Performing wild poppy jams with a projector & 45XL tshirts, a prove it kit and a couple of synths, plus the criminally underrated vocal talents of Artadi remains the winningest combo I've witnessed to date. We can better understand the process of the masters today, based on shit they do in their living room, performing in their pajamas. The revolution has been on UA-cam all along...
Its so rare for a band to be this good live. It sounds IDENTICAL to the recording, but with a clearly live feel. Genevieve is on point and I don't even think she has reverb on her voice. Louis is obviously the tits but damn. Favorite band whether I like it or not

Yes to this. I came here after seeing the full band live vid to hear more of what I thought was just a solid drummer. Had no idea he was also the songwriter and could play keys as well. Mind blown.
@@dkny02138 I believe Genevieve writes a lot of the Knower songs, and Louis produces/arranges (as opposed to his solo work, which he writes). I love how Genevieve's voice cuts through in this set, sounding conversationally audible and delicate despite the delicious madness going on. They never seem to do the same thing twice. Louis' bass at 18:40 is soooo sic!
LC rocks, but every (bootlegged) video misses Gen's amazing voice. I absolutely loved this because it brings her voice to the front. This was a real treat.
SO happy that this came up. Thank you! The visuals were outstanding and original! I love the barking dog and the wolves nodding with the groove. I assume Genevieve has perfect pitch because I've never heard her not nailing it. And Louis Cole is the funkiest skeleton alive. Man, I was skinny like that and so insecure about it when I was young. Louis owns it. More performances, please! But stay safe and healthy!
Hanging on gets better & hits harder every time I hear it. Sincerely reminds me of the point in life where you have to start working to be realistic and what it feels like.
When are you coming to Norway? We need you to fire up our stages with your enormous energetic creativity. Love that you listened to Scritti Politti Genevieve. Bring Tim Lefebvre too.
Big surprise seeing Knower in Secret Sky Festival tbh. Frickin Enjoyed tuning in the stream while getting some noise complaints. Thank you so much KNOWER
I was watching the Louis Cole 2019 live video and feeling sad about not getting to see that show in person before the pandemic and thus video came on and everything was suddenly OK
Man, I'm not sayin that Knower set the standard of a legit living room set as they did before but........I think they just set the standard haha. On the real, this was an awesome set!
I listen to this almost every day. When it's time to get to the nitty-gritty part of life, work, family, whatever... There's something in this that holds it together for me. Enjoy the pizza, you earned it.
It's a Monday morning, a little bit over one month after this happened live. I didn't get to watch the whole thing back then, so I decided to give it a spin now. 10am, I'm replying to a boring work email when "The Government Knows" starts. Day is 200% better. Thanks, KNOWER.
Strange coincidence that whenever I'm at my lowest Knower seems to have a new release. Was feeling "gun-in-mouth" down this morning but this music saved me. Don't enjoy the downs all that much, but if that's the price the universe charges for brilliant, ecstatic, joy...I pay it gladly. Amazing performance. Love you guys! Please keep Knower-ing!

This is the best new music I've heard in 20 years.
Can't believe she wore those glasses the whole time!! You can't see normally out of those! Especially with all the crazy light effects
Knower here to lift everyone's spirits during the lock down
I love how Genevieve's voice cuts through in this set, sounding conversationally audible and delicate despite the delicious madness going on. They never seem to do the same thing twice.
Louis' bass at 18:40 is soooo sic!
After the amazing live-sesh versions, I didn’t expect to enjoy relistening to OG-Knower so much!!
That light show is so gorgeous. Thats how you do a low bugget home concert!!
I haven't been this happy in years
ISWJYxual saaaame 😂 time traveler took me back to simpler times 🥺🥺🥺
@@joeface8995 YUP AGREED
LC rocks, but every (bootlegged) video misses Gen's amazing voice. I absolutely loved this because it brings her voice to the front.
This was a real treat.
SO happy that this came up. Thank you! The visuals were outstanding and original! I love the barking dog and the wolves nodding with the groove. I assume Genevieve has perfect pitch because I've never heard her not nailing it. And Louis Cole is the funkiest skeleton alive. Man, I was skinny like that and so insecure about it when I was young. Louis owns it. More performances, please! But stay safe and healthy!
My epylepsi reach out new level after watching this till the end...
Especially govt. Knows
Knower is the anti-depressant humanity needs here in 2020.
It checks out: Side effects include restless leg syndrome.
One of the best and most fresh bands I've heard in a very long time...
Fuck, this is so God Damned good. I can't stand it. How haven't these two blown up yet??? This is the best pop music in 30 years.
I was stoked to see them on there too!
still one of my favorite performances of all time, thanks knower
I was watching the Louis Cole 2019 live video and feeling sad about not getting to see that show in person before the pandemic and thus video came on and everything was suddenly OK
Man, I'm not sayin that Knower set the standard of a legit living room set as they did before but........I think they just set the standard haha. On the real, this was an awesome set!
I listen to this almost every day. When it's time to get to the nitty-gritty part of life, work, family, whatever... There's something in this that holds it together for me. Enjoy the pizza, you earned it.
Love It!!!!!!!!! There is hope for modern music!
Me expolta el cerebr00000
It's a Monday morning, a little bit over one month after this happened live. I didn't get to watch the whole thing back then, so I decided to give it a spin now.
10am, I'm replying to a boring work email when "The Government Knows" starts. Day is 200% better.
Thanks, KNOWER.
I just checked out today if u guys dropped something new and there it is. I was in your concert in Turkey and had lots of fun. Love yall
Videos by KNOWER and Louis just started randomly showing up on my UA-cam feed the other day. I am now obsessed. OBSESSED!
Take care of you, my friend. I'm glad you're still here.
Life is pretty much worth living for the next drop from Knower. Dayenu.
Take care, don't be silly
I hope things improve for you
i dont know you, but i understand where you're at and i just want you know that you are loved (even if just by a stranger who knows nothing about you on the internet in the knower comments section)
The strategic pizza formation might just be the most beautiful thing my eyes have ever seen
Ok. I’ll be the almost 400th person to say it. This is gosh damn magical. Thank you KNOWER!
42 year old metal head enjoying the tunes. Amazing.
First, quarantine ends in France, and now this. things are looking up!
Smells like funk in here. I couldn't be more thankful these years for the stench.
