if the people they wronged actually were horrible themselves and were proven so that would be one thing. But yeah to have no objective standard of what really constitutes a hero and a villain and worst yet arbitrarily hail someone as a "hero" based on no real metric whatsoever other that they 'look hot' or are woke.
An anti-hero at least has a grasp on their morals and knows when to back down when necessary, the fact that these people would go out of their way to consider large icons of immorality such as the Joker anti-heros already tells you a lot about how ill their mentality is.

To be fair, we probably ended up in this climate due to getting sick of moral truisms, and only after such a long period of cynicism does it start to become refreshing again. We can't get too complacent about this kind of thing or we'll just be hapless victims of the cycle. In other words, we have to remember that sometimes over-simplistic, common truisms don't quite cut it, and we've got to dig a little deeper into the 'why' and 'how', to find resolution. It's like the difference between trying to obey the written words of the bible, and actually drawing on it for moral inspiration.

"Joaquin Phoenix's Joker is an Incel" is something I never understood, His story isn't that of him wanting sex, his story is that of a man who's obviously mentally unfit for society, that same society ignored him until he decided to become the face of a Class-War that resulted in the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
If anything the 2019 Joker is a connection to the "Bullied kid pulls a gun" trope. He's clearly meant to make you feel empathy at first because it could've been different, but instead he becomes the titular villain. At the end of the day, the Joker shot 4 people, bragged about it on TV, and became the face of an anarchist movement.
The movie depicts the Left/Antifa as the bad guys. All the protesters turned rioters in the movie are espousing very left-leaning ideas.
The critics hate it because it calls their side the bad guys
Joker is literally about class war, one of the detractor's main points of complaints against capitalism and the like, and has nothing to do with sex. It's just funny how illogical, incoherent and self-defeating they are. It would be funny if they didn't control the exchange of ideas on public platforms that are basically atp extensions of our own body.

It actually goes very well into a logical left wing argument, but the extremists don't have the cognition to recognize that.

The only real argument to that is that one could claim the entire sequence only takes place in Arthur's head, as did most of the scenes in the movie

It’s all about character design. The sharp, pointy glasses give off a mean vibe, while New Guy is round and cuddly looking, giving off a more kind vibe.

The Babadook is a physical representation of abuse born from grief/depression. The film is about a mother with a hyperactive son who lost her husband, she's exhausted and miserable, and the Babadook sneaks into her life and uses her weakness to "possess" her to hurt her own son. In the end, the two of them work together to overcome the Babadook and keep it locked in their basement and feeding it occasionally- because grief never *goes away* forever, but you also don't have to let it control your life and stop you from appreciating the good things you still have, the people you still love.

Joker is a villain that you're supposed to identify with. He's a belivable, realistic character that goes off the deep end. Ultimately, you don't condone his actions, but you recognise his broken humanity, and how it came to be that way.
The Babadook and Pennywise are shells filled with malice. Their entire being is meant to enact evil upon innocents.

I do have to disagree with identifying with The Joker. Joker is, in my opinion, on the same level as Pennywise and Babadook when it comes to motivation. Outside of wanting to get Batman's attention, Joker just wants to hurt people in the worst ways possible. The Joaquin Phoenix movie and the Killing Joke comic portrayed the character with a sympathetic backstory, but that really shouldn't excuse the horrible stuff the character did that makes him completely unsympathetic.
Also, I'm pretty sure the Pennywise and Babadook thing was a joke that got out of hand.
Also a woman's property was stolen but is fine because she is married with the wrong guy

Not only did the author not destroy New Guy's argument, the author didn't even answer his simple question that is frequently asked to small children in order to teach them empathy.

The comic really tripped me up. I'm looking at it now, and I still can't entirely fathom that some people would genuinely think the pink-haired lady isn't a stereotypical comical bad guy (gal).
I agree. The author probably didn't intend to "destroy" his argument. She probably just wanted to show how annoying it is when meeting new people that don't warm up to you at all - she doesn't want to have to explain or argue her point of view - she just wants someone to talk to, and this new guy is not going to work at all.
When ethics are determined by the group you belong to, the “argument” is simply whether you belong to a group or not. She “destroys his argument” by conclusively showing that he belongs to a different group than her. That’s why the “punch line” (quite literal here) is an emotional attack on New Guy, setting him up with the hope of friendship only to deliberately take it away. It’s a gut punch to say *YOU’RE NOT ONE OF [MY TRIBE]* which may be “funny” if your tribe thinks it cool to be cruel to outsiders. Interestingly, this seems to be similar to a known pattern of violence which is well documented in gang violence and other tribal warfare. Violent brutality to the outsider can escalate as a demonstration of loyalty to the in-group, and it gets worse and worse until it burns out. This is how bodies get desecrated. The outsider enemy is killed (or worse... captured), and there remains a large number of people who still need to demonstrate their capacity for violence in service to The Group - so they unleash on the remains or the captives, going further and further as they attempt to score social points until there is nothing but a hellish burnt offering to Their Tribe hanging from a bridge. We see this in low resolution linguistic miniature with the endless excoriation of SJW opposition on social media long after the point has been made, or an apology extracted. There exist a large number of The Tribe which still need to demonstrate their fealty via cruelty to the outsider.
