I would have been mad also, the dealer should have made a warranty claim for you. Great detective work for finding the problem 👍🏻. Have a great weekend Paul 👍🏻🙂🙋🏼♂️🇨🇦
Good morning Paul, as I was watching the video I was thinking isn't it great that you can buy just the switch/button, but wow that is sticker shock. I can't believe it cost that much. I think we have the same switch. Thanks for sharing the info. Ben
Good afternoon Ben! When I looked up the switch in the part diagram on the Land Pride site and seen that the switch was a separate item I thought it was great as well. They don't list the price so I was shocked when I was at the local Kubota dealership and told how much it was. I think that the parts counter guy was a little uncomfortable about the price as well. Have a fantastic weekend!
@@JelenOutDoors It is such a niche market for these replacement parts. they have you by the b@lls. I have to fix my 3rd function valve for B2601as the power doesn't turn on anymore. I'm trying to troubleshoot with dealer and help from my remote brother, but I worried about buying replacement parts from Kubota dealer too. I have no electrical / millright talents - so its very frustrating for a "hobby" farmer like myself.
another way to analyze this rip off. If that little button was $50, all the little parts bought seperately would make a $1K 3rd function valve kit turn out to cost 10K, ridiculous. good for you for considering to buy future implements elsewhere (non Landpride)
That is indeed maddening, Paul! I think this whole thing transcends industries and products. I remember having to spend almost $70 for a replacement seal for a Kohler toilet about a year ago..... unbelievable!
It most certainly is maddening John and it sure has. I was watching a video on how one of the big 3 chainsaw company's were charging an outrageous price for carburetor gaskets, They have since normalized their carb gasket price due to backlash from dealer / consumers. Have a super weekend!
Great troubleshooting and explanation. I have the same Land Pride 3rd function valve. Have not had any issues with a couple years use. Good to know what could cause the issue and how to troubleshoot should I have that issue. Thanks for taking the time to explain. I agree with you, that price is outrageous. Best of luck.
I wonder if that button has some type of internal waterproof seal that pushes the price up. Or maybe it doesn't and that is why it failed prematurely. Messicks is a great place to get the best prices on replacement Kubota parts, but not sure if they ship out of the US. Really stinks that there was no warranty coverage on a premature failure like that.
Hard to tell if the buttons are 100% sealed. The warranty coverage period is expired and wear parts are not covered. Not sure whether the buttons/ switches are considered wear parts or not. I will be traveling to the US next month and plan to stop to check out Messicks. Depending on prices and the exchange rate I may pick up or may not pick up a couple of items. I'll definitely check out their button prices. Thanks and have a great weekend!
@ The buttons were it. What was weird is that one failed and the very next day, the other did. Made me think electrical short. Even tried taking the buttons apart but tiny contacts and springs shot out. Ordered $12 aftermarket that are supposedly where kubota gets there’s. OTTO is the brand. They are back ordered but don’t need them right now anyway.
Wow! Well, thank you first of all for sharing your experience. I have the same Landpride 3rd function controller. And second, that is ridiculous. They probably know that part fails the most and increased the price to match the demand. Shameful
Paul, you are right. That is a $2 switch. I understand your frustration. I hope this switch works better for you and you can get back to work. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers
Thanks Bob! It most certainly is overpriced. The new one is working fine. I hope that the other original one doesn't stop working. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
I can feel your frustration Paul. That is absolutely RIDICULES! A plastic button. I ran into a similar thing on my BX. I tore a small rubber boot on steering ball joint. Kubota would not sell me a replacement boot. Only the complete ball joint for about $150.00!! I bought an aftermarket boot for $16.00. That’s just stupid 🤬
Nice job trouble shooting, That's nuts for the price. I know i had a bad pump on my BX, they wanted over $100 for it. Amazon $15.00 otherwise i was driving to Thunder Bay 300 km. Great fix but frustrating. Cheers! 🍻🌴
Thanks Mark! It is very frustrating when an OEM part is massively overpriced. You saved a lot of gas money not having to go to TB. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
Hello Paul! Just a quick note I think Ed over @myclutteredgarage has had an issue with his and I’m sure he did a video. I agree that is nuts! They know those little micro switches are almost a consumable. They will fail eventually after so many button pushes. I’d just order a cheaper one online now so you have it as a spare. Thanks for sharing Paul! Cheers, Mike.
Thanks Mike, I'll check out Ed's channel. It is a crazy cost for such an item. Good point to get an aftermarket switch now before the other original momentary button switch goes out. It'll give me time to verify that it fits properly as well. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Mike, I checked out Ed's channel. His 3rd function is Kubota and mine is Land Pride. The issue he had was with the switch that turns power on and off for the buttons was broken and not the open and close button switches. Mine doesn't have that power on switch, the buttons have direct power from the battery all the time. In his case he would have to change the entire switch and wire harness as it's only available as one piece. In my case Land Pride pieces can be purchased separately. Good to know for those who have the Kubota 3rd function kit like Ed has versus the Land Pride 3rd function kit that I have.
I believe Kubota owns Lands Pride. I bought a LP third function kit and retrofitted it to fit my '05 B7800. I didn't want the aftermarket one they tried to sell me.
@@JelenOutDoors Yes, at the time I thought I could buy one off the shelf and install it. Kubota said they didn’t make one for my tractor. They tried to sell me a WR Long unit. Generally speaking, Kubota’s been a PITA.
Good Morning To Both Of You 😇😇👌👌👍👍You are doing very well explaining your diagnostic investigation Sir 👍👌😇OUTSTANDING fixe Sir 😇👌👍I agree with you that is a not good business ethic at all, I'm pretty sure that you can find that same button into an electronic store for 1/3 of the prize 😤You can change the entire control buttons set up for about the same prize with strong all weather electrical hardware 👍👌😇Keep Up The OUTSTANDING Work both of you Cheers 😇👌👍🍻
Good afternoon Sir and thank you for the support and kind words. I agree that it's not good business ethics or practice. There are a lot of electronic places where a very similar switch can be purchased for a 3rd of the price. Have a fantastic weekend!
How's she goin'? Too bad the 3rd function failed. OE parts are just a license to print money I think. Every dealer/manufacturer has high prices. If the manufacturers were half wise they would sell their products at a more competitive price and they would sell a lot more. Glad you were able to get the grapple working again Paul. Take 'er easy!!!
Thanks Mike, I am happy that it's working now. I have used the grapple a lot since I replaced the button-switch. Your right about the manufacturers and dealers. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Hello! That switch seems a little pricey lol. It's like buying gas, they know you need it so...... It likely cost a few bucks to make. Things like that switch should be free from the company out of goodwill if anything. Take care
I wouldn't be happy with that price, either, Paul. But it's not just Kubota. Massey has similar prices. They must think they are Harley Davidson! I wonder where the Land Pride products are made. Massey GC series tractors were made in Japan and the U.S. and were good quality. Now they are made elsewhere and (it seems to me) that the quality has suffered. -Rick
I agree Rick, it's not just Kubota / Land Pride. I think that some of the parts are made in Kanas and other elsewhere. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
I watched a UA-cam comparison that shows the Kubota 3rd Function valve kit is very different and better than the Land Pride one. I insisted my dealer install the Kubota one. Not sure why they have 2 options. Also not sure why you are making such a big deal to single out the LP switch price. You should rant about all LP prices. Most LandPride prices seem ridiculous. My Land Pride box blade BB1566 was about 25-30% more than good comparables I’ve seen since I stupidly bought the LP. Same for 3 pt hitch scraper blades with hydraulics. LP pricing is just arrogance. I now always look for alternatives when I can.
Good morning. I have seen a Tractor Time with Tim video doing a comparison of the Land Pride vs Kubota 3rd function valve installation, they are very different. I went with Land Pride because the hydraulic lines and valve are not as exposed as much at the loader. You are right Land Pride pricing is a little overwhelming. I'll be looking for alternatives in the future as well. Have a fantastic day!
Landpride as I understand it is Kubota. I wonder if the Kubota Branded 3rd Function is the same unit and if the parts are the same price? Parts today are concern just from an availability point of view. Getting Totoya OEM parts for example is a nightmare. My last trip (and I do mean my last trip) to the Toyota dealer was shocking - they had no stock in the country for exhaust or brake parts so they offered me aftermarket parts at Toyota part prices and Toyota installation fees. You only go to a dealer because you want OEM parts or you need their computer diagonisitcs. I have not had a problem with Kubota yet but nothing is cheap from any dealer these days. I think we are all going to have to get used to searching out alternative parts. The price you displayed is outrageous for something that has already proven itself to fail. There is no way you wore that switch out! I think that I would be hunting on Amazon for an alternative part in the future. Great Video and you are right to be pissed off!
Good afternoon Gregory and thanks for sharing your Toyota experience, it's good for consumers to know these things. Totally agree that the OEM parts are getting too expensive and looking at alternatives may be something to get use to. I was surprised that the button/switch failed and I am very unhappy with the cost of the OEM replacement. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
Yes I could have purchased the exact button switch from an online vendor for a lot less. I wanted to make a point that Land Pride / Kubota are overcharging. Have a super day!
@JelenOutDoors Yeah I made that comment then you explained it in the video lol. I jumped the gun brother. Glad you got your tractor back to going though!!!
Thanks for sharing, this seems like it could be a common problem so I appreciate your troubleshooting. Looks like I can get that switch from Mouser for $9.99. It's part number. OTTO P9-411221. Maybe I should grab a spare for the future. That was a ridiculous markup on kubota's part. I agree. I think the US dealerships are probably about 40 bucks but when I search for the part number on the schematic it says call your dealer for pricing.
Your welcome and thanks Jeff! It most certainly is marked up. I will be getting an aftermarket spare. I did look the part up on the Land Pride site before I got it from the local Kubota dealership. I didn't call as stated on the schematic I just went straight to the dealer because I needed some tubes of grease and wanted to look at some equipment. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
I would have been mad also, the dealer should have made a warranty claim for you. Great detective work for finding the problem 👍🏻. Have a great weekend Paul 👍🏻🙂🙋🏼♂️🇨🇦
