Does accounting hold bad working conditions?
@@ryans8944 not at all’
your work vlogs are the most relatable imo, Jenna. i think thats why we all request them so much, it helps me romanticize my own work life lol. and the clips of you setting up your desk, doing your work morning routine, tapping on the keyboard, clicking the mouse, etc… it’s so comforting for some reason! 😅 i think we as your viewers understand that work is not your whole life, but it’s still a significant portion of it, and that’s okay. you’re fortunate to have such a great, flexible job. all the more reason to keep the work vlogs coming. ❤❤
So many of you found me back when I was doing basically daily work from home vlogs 🥹 it makes me so happy that you still love the work content, balanced with everything else and me just sharing life with you💖
I worked in the non-profit sector before covid and as fulfilling as that was, I LOVE LOVE LOVE corporate. The flexibility, the benefits, the PTO, the work/life balance, working from home, it cannot be beaten lol.
i'm so happy you were able to experience both 💕 truly giving you the EXPERIENCE!
I work as a virtual assistant/customer support and I love working from home! It pays well and I am grateful for it.
That sounds amazing ❤
Hi! If you don’t mind me asking, where do you work at ?
Hello. Where did you obtain your training for Va?
Jenna I love love love your attitude to work. As someone with life experience (I’m 41), I am an advocate for balance. We spend a lot of our valuable time at work, so it’s important you feel engaged and rewarded, but it’s healthy to be able to switch off, and have separation between that and other parts of your life. Comparing ourselves to others serves nobody so we must do what works for us. Brilliant to see you thriving!
Thank you so much 🥹💖 yes the separation is so so so important for me
Currently an accounting student, your videos make me excited for the future😊❤
yay i'm glad 💖
Your meals always look so good girl 🍓 im so happy youre feeling happy and content with your job ❤️
Omg thank you lovie 💖❤️ that is so so sweet
I work at a global immigration law firm, and a huge pro for me is absolutely the PTO and the security that comes from having consistent paychecks, but also knowing that moving internally to a different office in the future (and possibly living abroad for a few years) is a really exciting possibility.
Yesss I love all of these 🥹💖
i'm an accounts receivable analyst at a large nonprofit org full time while also in graduate school full time for my MBA-F. it is so so so rewarding to be able to believe in your company while also enjoying the benefits of your time commitment like PTO, healthcare, vision, dental, etc. work-life balance is wonderful like you said. I'm able to time block really easily and am blessed enough to have a team to delegate to when i feel overwhelmed!
The benefits are truly so amazing 💖 and yes the company in general
Hi Jenna :) Although I recently was not active here, I kept an eye on your content and I need to say this - I love the balance you have between work and private life and this should always be promoted! Keep it this way, Jenna ❤
Regarding my job, I work as a Global Rewards Advisor in a global corporation. What I love most about my job is the balance between analytical, project, and employee-oriented tasks. I work in a hybrid mode so I have full flexibility on which days I come to the office - now, I cannot imagine working in the office full-time.
Thank you for your content, Jenna, and have a great day 🌷
Love seeing your name pop up ❤ thank you for sharing, your job sounds so interesting 🥹
Thinking about going the accounting degree (non-CPA) route this year. So glad I found your channel!!!
yay happy i could help 💖
I love working from home because it allows me to be more flexible to get things done and the support my company gives me and I get to spend time with my 5 month old Shih Tzu❤
omg baby shih tzu club 🥹 yes i LOVE those benefits as well!
Yes! Love seeing Beast in all your videos he’s growing so fast! Mine just start going downstairs by himself 🥺
I work for a small company. I love how much they value my input during meetings.
Yessss!!
Just stumbled on this page. I’m so glad to FINALLY come across someone from the DMV area in accounting. I just graduated with an accounting degree, wasn’t looking to close the gap but I interned at a corporate firm and here I am registering for a Masters. Advisory is definitely something I’d like to explore.
Happy you found me too 💖 advisory is very interesting and also very broad you I’m sure you can find something!
I work at a large manufacturer of beauty and health products (after years in consulting) and as a new mom, having stable 9-5 hours with flexibility to take my daughter to doctor appointments, etc is invaluable! Also PTO, 401k match, and they were super respectful of my transition in and out of maternity leave. Like you said the balance and work life separation is really great for my mental health!
Yes it is so amazing I truly love the benefits 🥹
Love your videos and look forward to them each week. I live and work in Canada as a paralegal in motor vehicle personal injury for a small firm for 7 years and love it. I have been working in this profession for over 30 years in various areas of law and for large, medium and small firms and my favourite is a small firm as there is no office drama. Sometimes it amazes me how much I still enjoy my career in law especially after 30 years which I think is partly due to the wide range of areas of law available to work in.
I was a personal injury paralegal too for over a decade (predominantly plaintiff’s).
I went from that to now doing patent/trademark law which is way drier but not as emotionally taxing as PI..😊
Yessss 30 years later I freaking love that!! Thank you for sharing 💖
love watching this vlog on my birthday today and love this Jenna
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RANDI!! i'm so grateful for how long you've been subscribed 💕
I'm not a freelancer, but I work as an emergency veterinary technician. I have a passion for animals, but unfortunately, this field does not pay well enough for a quality of life, so I am currently in school to acquire my bachelor's degree in business. I'm excited for a career change and have always had an interest in business and working the "corporate" life. I love your channel because you show that it IS in fact normal to still get a formal education, work 9-5 and have a great life. I feel that in this day and age, "hustle" culture and "be your own boss" is pushed so much that it's becoming toxic!
Totally agree, I mean not all of us want to be our own bosses, even though it gives more freedom to make choices it's also stressing when the numbers don't round up and you struggle to make ends meet.
best of luck as you are pursuing your bachelor's selina 💕 i totally get what you mean, even myself would have a "be your own boss" mindset and i think there's nothing wrong with that, there's just pros and cons to everything and for me right now i think it's not my path 🥹
for sure and it's harder to separate work and life! but in return probably more fulfilling - again pros and cons to it all :)
I work from home for a large hospital system doing chart review and querying Providers when documentation needs clarification. I love many aspects of working from home and I love the team I work with even though we've never met in person and live several states apart. After working onsite for one hospital for many yers this change has been an opportunity for growth and learning. One of the simple things I love is no commute.... particularly in bad weather. Thanks for sharing your day and Beast......I need to get a pup....:)
No commute, more time to cook, love WFH life so much 🥹💖
I love your vlogs, Jenna! Your dog is so cute. 😍 I work in Communication and Marketing, as a social media, content creator and digital mentoring. Today I'm at an education company. What I love about it is that I don't have to work on the weekends haha but I'm current struggling with the excessive amount of work. Here in Brazil we normally work 44 hour weeks in corporate, plus extra hours. 😮💨
Thank you💖 ugh it is so hard, I totally get the normalized working over 40 trend. Take those breaks as you need and let it really help you disconnect!
I’m gonna miss seeing you and Selena together 💙💙💙
🥹 me too
Hi Jenna, I work as a system engineer in a hospital and I love my job, because a) it's super easy for me to get a job and b) I can work in so many different companies - IT is everywhere needed. So I have great insight in many different fields - love that! Greetings from the country of Toblerone 🇨🇭
YES! I love that 🥹
Love the video!
I am a Group Manager in a big corporate company. I also work from home. Having 2 dogs and work from home is just a dream come true. Without my WFH job I do not think I would have 2 dogs. Also for my brain it is just so much easier to work with being in my own space.
Yes having pups is SO much more doable when working from home!! That’s the only reason I could get beast🥹
Ok so i graduated in 2019 w a finance degree too! I always planned to do something similar to your current job but im freelancing now. I enjoy the flexibility of it but i think my favorite thing is that I’ve been able to meet sooo many people from all different backgrounds between my different freelance projects
I LOVE how much you travel as a freelancer and can experience so much of the world, it’s so meant for you 🥹
I've recently joined the corporate team at a real estate company, and I am so grateful for all of the resources a corporate position offers. For instance, being a part of a larger corporate team means I have the time do dedicate to projects and do the projects well. In previous roles, I've always had to wear a million different hats and struggled to focus in on completing projects to the best of my ability, but now, with the time and room to grow, I can complete tasks to truly see it to the end.
thank you for sharing 💕 i'm happy you've been able to grow ♥️
Beast is so adorable!
He is🥹
I work at a small to mid sized Law firm in Toronto as a Law Clerk. I've worked at another mid size firm in Toronto and a smaller family owned firm in a suburb outside Toronto as well. The biggest pro I've found of Toronto mid sized to large firms is the amount of PTO and Health Benefits included in employment. As a young person with type 2 diabetes and hypertension, the health benefits are immensely important to me. I agree that the stability is also a super important pro of corporate!
Yesss. I love the benefits packages so much and the PTO
I loved watching this!
yay 💕
hi jenna~ love this mini A Day in My Life Working vlog chat 😊☕💖/
i graduated 21 yrs ago c/o 2002🎓(yeah I'm an old millennial) School of Business Admin & Info Science and minor in Paralegal Studies (bc my parents wanted me to become a Lawyer). I want to acknowledge and cheer you on your career path.
I loveeee that💖💖 thank you for supporting me 🥹💖
Love the video!
🥹💖 thank you
I just quit working for a big retail company. yes they do provide good benefits such as plenty of paid leaves but the working hours were insane. I felt so burned out and I only worked there for half a year. they give us 7 days off per month yet I still felt so tired. working in retails is fun and all, but the pay was to me not worth sacrificing both my physical and mental health for. now I’m waiting to start working at a new place as an admin at a smaller company specialising in skin treatments. they only give 4 days off per month but I love the working hours and they give more stable and higher pay. I’m excited and I hope the new place is good.
I’m so sorry you were so burnt out with your other job 🥹 I hope this one is much better
Yes! I work for a Medi-cal Health Plan here in Southern California and I love working from home.
Pros: I'm able to get things done at my apartment
Hangout with my puppy & cats
Shower on my lunch lol
Workout on my lunch
Save money on gas and food lol
YES to all of those pros!! the saving money on food really helps a lot too and makes me feel less bad if i get takeout for dinner or go on more dinner dates throughout the week :)
What the hell. This video answered all my questions in one go. Jees !
yay💕
Hi Jenna good morning happy Tuesday morning and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Thank you so much Edward 🥳
@@JennaHong your welcome sending you hugs ❤️ 🤗
this vlog opened my eyes to seeking another career
It all starts w something 💖💖
I'm interviewing week after next for my first staff accountant role. Just finished my undergrad at 39 and am starting my MBA in the spring. I am soooo nervous. Went from a 20 year degree in healthcare (direct care) to being an accounting student and imposter syndrome is kicking my tail!
Congratulations and finishing your undergrad and starting MBA soon 😍you’ve got this
Omg this is so interesting to me! I have a bachelor's is business administration (which I got in 2011) and have been in the residential mortgage lending industry for 24 years. I'm 44 and currently in my first semester of my graduate degree in accounting. It's so cool to see someone in my age group making changes too!
AWESOME VIDEO I work in the medical field it’s so stressful but iam so grateful and thankful to GOD to have a job
I am so grateful too💖🥹
Okay so I'm glad to hear that part about working in accounting and not having an account degree. Because I'm interested. Tell me more about that. But I also do not have a financing degree, just Administrative Assistant degree.
What more would you like to know!!
Hi Jenna, thank you so much for this video. If I may ask, do you think you will do accounting for the rest of your career? Does it also provide a good work life balance for you? Thank you!!
The rest of my career is definitely too big a statement to say yes at the moment, but I’ll stick with the job that allows me a life outside of work ❤️
I work 100% remote as a NetSuite Administrator. Been doing this for almost 10 years but 3 years have been remote (thanks to the pandemic).
Love it!!❤
Hi! Just a question, I'm graduating soon with an accounting degree, I'm concerned that I'll be working 60-80 hours a week, is this true? Also are private or public firms more flexible?
I would say it depends more on the industry of accounting more than private / public! Tax versus audit versus consulting would all be pretty different
do you ever talk about salary or bonuses at your large mid size in vlogs? i have a similar work trajectory as you and always interested in discusisng this with people in similar situations
I would suggest finding someone within your own firm you trust who can be transparent since every firm is different in my opinion
@@JennaHongI just moved firms so I don't know anyone like that yet 😅
What kind of field do you think provides flexibility, actual 9-5 hours and PTO in accounting? I heard so many bad things about being in an accountant and i’m rethinking my major
It’s hard to say because I think every company is different, I think the right company and team lead will allow flexibility regardless of the field
TYFS Jenna! 😊🧡😊💯👋
Of course ❤❤
Can you have visible tattoos as an accountant at your job? Or is it considered unprofessional?
I dont think it's unprofessional but I have them covered for work usually out of personal preference!
I’m currently a freshman majoring in accounting and my advisor asked me if I want to get a certificate immediately and work or transfer to a university and get my bachelors degree? What do you think works best?
Please let me know 🥺 Thank you! 💗✨
FYI: I’m in a community college
I’d get your bachelors degree and enroll in a program that also gives you credits toward your CPA prerequisites if that’s the certificate you’re interested in!
Where is the clock you have on your wall from?
Amazon! On my storefront
Hi jennaaaaaaaa

Finance or accounting or marketing ?
I work in operations at an accounting firm! At the time this was filmed I was working in market research. Majored in finance
did you like majoring in finance or would have you majored in something different if you could?@@JennaHong
A pro I love working from home is not hearing the chatter of my co workers.
Yesss focus time 🥹💖
Hey girl! I’m loving your vlogs! I just got into the vlogging world myself and I really love the way you edit. Do you use specific presets? If so, would you be okay with it sharing? TIA 🫶🏽💗
I used to use presets if you just search free cinematic LUTs for Final Cut Pro on UA-cam search! I did in this video
When you said ‘outside’ and beast got all hyped up 🥲🫶🏻

Prior to covid I was working for a medical supply company doing accounting. After covid I shifted to a Logistics Corporate job working from home . I enjoy the separation from home and work life I love the Pay the PTO 🫠
