your work vlogs are the most relatable imo, Jenna. i think thats why we all request them so much, it helps me romanticize my own work life lol. and the clips of you setting up your desk, doing your work morning routine, tapping on the keyboard, clicking the mouse, etc… it’s so comforting for some reason! 😅 i think we as your viewers understand that work is not your whole life, but it’s still a significant portion of it, and that’s okay. you’re fortunate to have such a great, flexible job. all the more reason to keep the work vlogs coming. ❤❤
So many of you found me back when I was doing basically daily work from home vlogs 🥹 it makes me so happy that you still love the work content, balanced with everything else and me just sharing life with you💖
I worked in the non-profit sector before covid and as fulfilling as that was, I LOVE LOVE LOVE corporate. The flexibility, the benefits, the PTO, the work/life balance, working from home, it cannot be beaten lol.
Jenna I love love love your attitude to work. As someone with life experience (I’m 41), I am an advocate for balance. We spend a lot of our valuable time at work, so it’s important you feel engaged and rewarded, but it’s healthy to be able to switch off, and have separation between that and other parts of your life. Comparing ourselves to others serves nobody so we must do what works for us. Brilliant to see you thriving!
i'm an accounts receivable analyst at a large nonprofit org full time while also in graduate school full time for my MBA-F. it is so so so rewarding to be able to believe in your company while also enjoying the benefits of your time commitment like PTO, healthcare, vision, dental, etc. work-life balance is wonderful like you said. I'm able to time block really easily and am blessed enough to have a team to delegate to when i feel overwhelmed!
I work at a global immigration law firm, and a huge pro for me is absolutely the PTO and the security that comes from having consistent paychecks, but also knowing that moving internally to a different office in the future (and possibly living abroad for a few years) is a really exciting possibility.
Just stumbled on this page. I’m so glad to FINALLY come across someone from the DMV area in accounting. I just graduated with an accounting degree, wasn’t looking to close the gap but I interned at a corporate firm and here I am registering for a Masters. Advisory is definitely something I’d like to explore.
I love working from home because it allows me to be more flexible to get things done and the support my company gives me and I get to spend time with my 5 month old Shih Tzu❤
I work at a large manufacturer of beauty and health products (after years in consulting) and as a new mom, having stable 9-5 hours with flexibility to take my daughter to doctor appointments, etc is invaluable! Also PTO, 401k match, and they were super respectful of my transition in and out of maternity leave. Like you said the balance and work life separation is really great for my mental health!
I'm not a freelancer, but I work as an emergency veterinary technician. I have a passion for animals, but unfortunately, this field does not pay well enough for a quality of life, so I am currently in school to acquire my bachelor's degree in business. I'm excited for a career change and have always had an interest in business and working the "corporate" life. I love your channel because you show that it IS in fact normal to still get a formal education, work 9-5 and have a great life. I feel that in this day and age, "hustle" culture and "be your own boss" is pushed so much that it's becoming toxic!
Totally agree, I mean not all of us want to be our own bosses, even though it gives more freedom to make choices it's also stressing when the numbers don't round up and you struggle to make ends meet.
best of luck as you are pursuing your bachelor's selina 💕 i totally get what you mean, even myself would have a "be your own boss" mindset and i think there's nothing wrong with that, there's just pros and cons to everything and for me right now i think it's not my path 🥹
Love the video! I am a Group Manager in a big corporate company. I also work from home. Having 2 dogs and work from home is just a dream come true. Without my WFH job I do not think I would have 2 dogs. Also for my brain it is just so much easier to work with being in my own space.
I've recently joined the corporate team at a real estate company, and I am so grateful for all of the resources a corporate position offers. For instance, being a part of a larger corporate team means I have the time do dedicate to projects and do the projects well. In previous roles, I've always had to wear a million different hats and struggled to focus in on completing projects to the best of my ability, but now, with the time and room to grow, I can complete tasks to truly see it to the end.
I work from home for a large hospital system doing chart review and querying Providers when documentation needs clarification. I love many aspects of working from home and I love the team I work with even though we've never met in person and live several states apart. After working onsite for one hospital for many yers this change has been an opportunity for growth and learning. One of the simple things I love is no commute.... particularly in bad weather. Thanks for sharing your day and Beast......I need to get a pup....:)
Hi Jenna :) Although I recently was not active here, I kept an eye on your content and I need to say this - I love the balance you have between work and private life and this should always be promoted! Keep it this way, Jenna ❤ Regarding my job, I work as a Global Rewards Advisor in a global corporation. What I love most about my job is the balance between analytical, project, and employee-oriented tasks. I work in a hybrid mode so I have full flexibility on which days I come to the office - now, I cannot imagine working in the office full-time. Thank you for your content, Jenna, and have a great day 🌷
Love your videos and look forward to them each week. I live and work in Canada as a paralegal in motor vehicle personal injury for a small firm for 7 years and love it. I have been working in this profession for over 30 years in various areas of law and for large, medium and small firms and my favourite is a small firm as there is no office drama. Sometimes it amazes me how much I still enjoy my career in law especially after 30 years which I think is partly due to the wide range of areas of law available to work in.
I was a personal injury paralegal too for over a decade (predominantly plaintiff’s). I went from that to now doing patent/trademark law which is way drier but not as emotionally taxing as PI..😊
Hi Jenna, I work as a system engineer in a hospital and I love my job, because a) it's super easy for me to get a job and b) I can work in so many different companies - IT is everywhere needed. So I have great insight in many different fields - love that! Greetings from the country of Toblerone 🇨🇭
I love your vlogs, Jenna! Your dog is so cute. 😍 I work in Communication and Marketing, as a social media, content creator and digital mentoring. Today I'm at an education company. What I love about it is that I don't have to work on the weekends haha but I'm current struggling with the excessive amount of work. Here in Brazil we normally work 44 hour weeks in corporate, plus extra hours. 😮💨
I just quit working for a big retail company. yes they do provide good benefits such as plenty of paid leaves but the working hours were insane. I felt so burned out and I only worked there for half a year. they give us 7 days off per month yet I still felt so tired. working in retails is fun and all, but the pay was to me not worth sacrificing both my physical and mental health for. now I’m waiting to start working at a new place as an admin at a smaller company specialising in skin treatments. they only give 4 days off per month but I love the working hours and they give more stable and higher pay. I’m excited and I hope the new place is good.
I'm interviewing week after next for my first staff accountant role. Just finished my undergrad at 39 and am starting my MBA in the spring. I am soooo nervous. Went from a 20 year degree in healthcare (direct care) to being an accounting student and imposter syndrome is kicking my tail!
Omg this is so interesting to me! I have a bachelor's is business administration (which I got in 2011) and have been in the residential mortgage lending industry for 24 years. I'm 44 and currently in my first semester of my graduate degree in accounting. It's so cool to see someone in my age group making changes too!
I work at a small to mid sized Law firm in Toronto as a Law Clerk. I've worked at another mid size firm in Toronto and a smaller family owned firm in a suburb outside Toronto as well. The biggest pro I've found of Toronto mid sized to large firms is the amount of PTO and Health Benefits included in employment. As a young person with type 2 diabetes and hypertension, the health benefits are immensely important to me. I agree that the stability is also a super important pro of corporate!
Ok so i graduated in 2019 w a finance degree too! I always planned to do something similar to your current job but im freelancing now. I enjoy the flexibility of it but i think my favorite thing is that I’ve been able to meet sooo many people from all different backgrounds between my different freelance projects
