thank you for your patience this week 💕a work from home day in my life is next up, so make sure you're subscribed! i loved spending the week with you 💕
Congrats on the promotion!🎉 side note, I used to get acrylic nails all the time.. but I felt like it was a waste of money because the techs would rush and not do a good job. I have been using the press on nails and I’ve received more compliments with them than I ever did when I got them professionally done. The press nails are about $8 and last a week or two. I’ve used the “impress” brand but I’m looking into other brands. I love the idea of a gel kit but I personally have no patience😅.
CONGRATSSSSS on the promotion babe. You are soooo so deserving of this!!! Your hard work is paying off ❤ loved the vlog, your baking skills are on point too hehe
Congrats on your promotion! I do my own gels nails and I love them! Always looking at our nails at the office it feels like a must for me. To avoid the chipping I like doing tip fade rather than a solid coat of polish. I find it grows out better! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Ugh it is a must, do you have an electric tool for the removal?? Honestly plz email me your nail care routine bc I would LOVE to know 🥹 hello@jennaxhong.com
Hi Jenna! I have always done my nails, so I have been through, acrylics, pink/white powder, gels, dip, and now I've moved to hard gel - also referred to as "builder" gel, and Russian manicures. They last 4-5 weeks for me and the hard gel doesn't seem as thick as dip. There is a good technician at The Beauty Clarendon. They just moved locations - I think across the street from where they were, but still in Arlington. Not many salons do the "builder" gel, but Rockville also has a place called Wisteria Beauty Studio - which I go to because it's closer, but ...plan to spend a couple of hours at Wisteria. The Clarendon tech is much faster.
Congratulations on getting promoted, you deserve it! Will you be leading the team in the upcoming year or will it be more of an individual contributor's position to manage the process? Can't wait to hear more about your new role and how you feel about it after a couple of months :) Take care, Jenna!
Omg thank you so much for joining the fam 💖 I use the Sony ZV E10 and the 11mm f1.8 lens! I talk about my whole setup in my weekend reset vlog I just posted
Hey Jenna! Just found your channel and subscribed immediately 💕. I work in tech consulting full time while also teaching meditation on the side, so really love hearing your approach to balance and making time for yourself throughout your work week. Can't wait to see more from you!
Congratulations on the promotion I am not surprised at all, for my nail routine I went from doing regular nail polish weekly to gel polish almost biweekly. But because I only plan for 1 day of self-care after work each week, I changed to press on's so that I may complete more self-care tasks in that day.
What is your filming set up? how is this like a 14mm 1.8 or something???? how is the view so wide with such shallow dof... also.... how much data did you capture to create a 33 minutes video in 4k SIXTY??? lmao
I do my gel nails at home. They generally last about a week to a week and a half before I have to redo them, but that’s bc my nails are naturally paper thin and that caused the gel to lift at the end. The only issue I have is removal- you definitely need an electric file kit, plus a pretty harsh chemical- and the combination of those things has damaged my already super thin nails. If your nails are naturally nice and thick it shouldn’t be an issue. But if they’re super brittle and flaky like mine, even the most gentle removal is still going to affect them. Cost wise though, It’s okay- you just make the up front investment which is probably about the same as one or two manicures in the salon. Other than that, you need a good hour or so periodically to remove and reapply- it’s definitely time consuming, but if you have the time it’s worth it.
Congrats on the promotion! I'm the same - when I have a late start to my mornings it messes with my mentality of getting my workout in and I end up psyching myself out to being lazy 😭 Also not to get you to spend money lol, but the latest macbook pros with the new M1/2 chips edit 4k like a breeze. No need to do proxy or anything and smooth as butter! And not sure if you're doing this but in FCP, you can leave files in place so they don't copy over the files when importing (basically so you don't have two copies of the media taking space on your computer). BUT if you do have an m chip MacBook Pro - I was having issues with editing 4k when I bought it and my heart sank because I was like no way I spent this much and it's so laggy... bug did some digging and found this: "Make sure to grant Final Cut Pro "Full Disk Access" in System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy. Without it, the application can't access external drives." After I did that, editing became so satisfying!
YESS i always keep files in place that helps a lot, but honestly proxy has been pretty smooth for me, I have the M1 chip from 2021. THANK YOUU for the extra tip on granting access 😍 You're the best Mikee! and thank you 🥹
Hugee congrats on your promotion!! 🥳 It's an honor to see you grow in your professional career! I used to get gel nails at the salon but I bought an At-Home kit from Amazon about a year ago and haven't gone back! I love it cause I feel like its less harmful on my nails so I can change colors every week 😍
Congratulations on your promotion! Watching your vlogs, we all know how hard you work and you deserve it😍 I love the video quality! Really amazing content as always❤️
On the nail topic, I got the Red Carpet Nails kit from Ulta about a year and a half ago. I'm just now running out of the products that came with the kit and I've bought several extra polishes, but my nails have been consistently done the whole time and it's so much cheaper!
I was doing dip every 4 weeks. Took them off and gave my nails a break for 6 weeks. I just started going the glue on nail route. $8 for a kit that has two sets in it. Kiss is a good brand to pick up and try. Plan on changing them every 10 days or so. I’m 5 days in and so far so good. I carry the tiny kit with me (I popped off one opening a can) for repairs.

Hi Jenna. New subbie here👋🏽 I found you through Selena’s channel. I have been doing monthly plan with me videos this year to show how I prep my content each month ahead which has helped me so much in preparing when to film what 💖 thank you so so much for supporting 🥹
I do dip(which is basically a type of acrylic) every 3 weeks. My brother came up with this budget for me and his wife as felt 2 weeks was too much. My nails grow out fast so have to do it every 3 weeks but I know people who can last to 4. I justify this because I don't spend more than $250 on makeup/beauty/hair care products etc. monthly and in general I rarely spend the full $250. The drawback is I do spend about $100 monthly on the. service alone because my shop is expensive. Other than that I think keeping the nails is important.
@JennaHong I know some people who can get gel done for cheaper like below $75 but they are only getting a color. I also dont know where those shops are in the DMV. I get my nails designed in whatever style I want and I genuinely don't pay for other beauty services or products. I think if you are paying for other services that's where it gets pricey. But maybe you can do something where you get it done maybe once or twice a year? Also the impress press ons did work for a while but they only last a week at most.
@@Supercooljesusgirl literally so hard, I’m so go big or go home if I’m gonna pay the premium I want a design or chrome or something 🫠 which just always brings me to the dilemma but I love the idea of just knowing I’ll do it maybe once or twice a year and otherwise do them at home 💕
OMG! Congratulations on your promotion! Beast looks so cute and has the longest eyelashes! I do my nails and my lashes at home. For my nails, I using Dashing Diva. Highly recommend! When I lived in JAX, fl I would get my nails on every other paycheck. So I was paid biweekly, I would get my nails done which at the time was $30 for a gel set and I tipped $5. I would then skip next paycheck and get it the paycheck after that one. So I was getting my nails done every 6 weeks. They were almost on their last leg, but I work with my hands and just the amount of layers and care they would take, made them last long. I feel if I have to go the nail shop every two weeks, I’m not getting my money’s worth. Granted now it $55 almost $60 for nails.
For nails, I feel like no matter what it's expensive. I try and push my nails to once a month, or every 6 weeks, which can be difficult with the grow out. I also have my own gel nail kit, if you don't have longer nails, or want a special shape it's worth it, only thing is you don't have the colour range and have to invest in the colour's otherwise it really is good and lasts for at least 2 weeks.

Congratulations on your promotion love!! So excited for and proud of you! 🩷
Thank you kasi💖
Gel kits at home are so easy! Especially for your toes. I use gel for my toenails and they last so much longer compared to regular nail polish! If anything, I hear the press-on's are pretty easy and nice too (I have heard great things about glamnetic press ons)
Omg I’ve never really tried press ons maybe I’ll give that a try🥹
Also, congrats on your promotion (: Hehe one of those comments where I say it out loud and in my head but my focus for the comment was the nails xD)@@JennaHong
