Funny, but watching this I don't feel like cheering. Old Riverfront Stadium was a special place. It seems wrong to listen to people cheer it's destruction.
I think that they're less cheering at the destruction, and more cheering at the fact that the engineers who designed the demolition did it right, and that the building actually collapsed as designed instead of doing something wonky like standing half-up.
It is sad I never got to be alive to go to a game at Cinergy Field I was only 2 years old when they imploded it sad to rewatch a historic 30 years period come to an end I wish I was alive to see it in person.
i remember as a kid we would travel from ft. wayne to riverfront see the big red machine back in the mid 70's. one time a guy barfed from the edge of the upper deck onto the folks below. good times.
Thank you! The Big Red Machine, the days of the consecutive World Series Championships were wonderful memories. A VERY expensive stadium was built for a team who now can't hit the broad side of a barn with a cow chip! This IS sad!
0:20 son inside the stadium> "Dad, I thought there was a game today" the dad inside stadium> "Well we will get to see the players first." construction workers> "Here we go in 3,2,1,"
I agree why do people cheer ? This was a ballpark that saw the Reds win 5 Pennats and Three WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Two All-Star Games, Aaron's 714 th home run,Perfect Games,No-Hitters,Rose's 4192 Historic Hit and countless other Major League Baseball's historic cornerstone events. Why cheer when this grand old lady dies?
I miss Riverfront. I went there with my family for the first third of my life, and the remaining two thirds have been spent at Great American (which I’ve never been too fond of).
Went there as part of a tour in 98'. The Reds were hosting the Cubs. While it's true alot of history took place there, there was nothing special about it.
I for one was not excited to see Riverfront stadium imploded!! I have SOOOOO MANY MEMORIES at that stadium, as did many folks! GABP is a real nice ballpark and everything eventually has to be updated, just wish Riverfront could have been updated and the team stayed in there!
When Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was demolished, nobody cheered. The Braves had a lot of memories from that stadium including but not limited to Hank Aaron's record breaking homer, 1995 world series game, etc. I almost got a chance to see a game there in 1993 just before I turned 5 but the tickets were sold out I think so we went to Six Flags instead. I'm sure the Reds have a lot of memories because they have had great teams in the past. No need to cheer.
Northern Kentucky is much like cincinnati. This was filmed from covington. I saw the whole thing behind the crowd. This stadium is where I first viewed the amazing sport of BaseBall.
Man. All the "COOKIE CUTTER"!!!! stadiums from the mid 60`s thru the early seventies went in succession: FULTON COUNTY STADIUM was 1st, then in no particular order THREE RIVERS,BUSCH MEMORIAL,VETERANS STADIUM. I won`t include SHEA ,because somebody took a "BITE"!!!!! of that apple out in left, center, & right field. Tho PITTSBURGH had more glory. RIVERFRONT to me had the best "APPEAL"!!! even tho I`m from CHICAGO. BIG RED MACHINEs` WORLD SERIES` championships & playoff appearances, as well as the BENGALS` 2 SUPER BOWL appearances in `81 &`88. I still say Kenny Anderson is still the best qb 2 put on the black & orange. Those orange stripes r "FRIGID" cool!!!!!!
I still don't understand people cheering the demolition of a building where they shared so many memories. I understand progress but if I were there I'd be sad - it would be like watching a funeral or something. To hear jerks cheering would really piss me off.
i was in the front row watching that. very sad.thats the reds best years getting blown into the history books. were i was though most people were crying.
@davidbfitz I think they cheer because implosions are so cool to watch! I think the big reason why Cincinnatti wanted those new stadiums for the Reds and Bengals was because River Front was not only out of date, but to everyone else it's the most boring looking stadium ever made! Even the Oldest football fields and Baseball parks still had a nice design, but look at this! It's so bland you would have no idea what played there!
Whenever I went there it was comfortable it was like home it had different colored seats it was clean it was so easy to get in & out of parking very simple & everything was affordable
This was clearly a terrorist attack, which makes me very suspicious as to why the people there were counting down and cheering. They should have been detained for questioning.
Don't care about memories, excuse me? The fuckin' Big Red Machine played in that stadium. If they weren't Reds fans, they wouldn't have shown up. Riverfront, or any other cookie-cutter stadium, had nice memories, but they were so ugly, and by '02 so obsolete, why not change. The memories are nice, but at the same time, I wouldn't want the Reds to play in a stadium like that forever. You just have to move on at some point. Besides, GABP is a better looking ballpark anyway.
MrCincinnatian yes. And the views across the river is nice too. The only thing is that they treat the stadiums like shit. You look at the half ass welding jobs and it is cringy
Many, Many very good times at Cincinnati Riverfront Stadium., You will be missed.. A fan for 45 years.
C. Hahn but do u like the new stadium bro people said that stadium was.missed

I just saw Cam Miller’s documentary on Riverfront and even though I never got to see it, I miss it
i remember as a kid we would travel from ft. wayne to riverfront see the big red machine back in the mid 70's. one time a guy barfed from the edge of the upper deck onto the folks below. good times.
The place where Jackie robinson made his last public appearance shortly before passing away.
Thank you! The Big Red Machine, the days of the consecutive World Series Championships were wonderful memories. A VERY expensive stadium was built for a team who now can't hit the broad side of a barn with a cow chip! This IS sad!
"Scissor shaped across the bed,
You are *red,* violent *red."*
At 00:53 the smoke looks like a beaver head! Frecky!
Godspeed, Riverfront. We had some great times together.
0:20 son inside the stadium> "Dad, I thought there was a game today"

Randy Marshall People have some kind of obsession with explosion
I miss Riverfront. I went there with my family for the first third of my life, and the remaining two thirds have been spent at Great American (which I’ve never been too fond of).
I was wondering that too. It's somewhat different with old buildings, but old stadiums have stories.
Cinergy Field was originally called Riverfront Stadium. Just to let you know.
I actually like Riverfront Stadium better than I do great American ballpark
Dumb people cheering they're own funeral for Big Red Machines house. So sad.
Kevin Miller --- completely agree with you. A bunch of stunned fu_ked up ignorants
Take it easy psychos
Went there as part of a tour in 98'. The Reds were hosting the Cubs. While it's true alot of history took place there, there was nothing special about it.
Very sad....many historic moments gone with the stadium
that was the best reds stadium that ever stand

that was pretty impressive
So many memories at river front
Northern Kentucky is much like cincinnati. This was filmed from covington. I saw the whole thing behind the crowd. This stadium is where I first viewed the amazing sport of BaseBall.
yes that is true.
They are likly clapping for the demolition team.
The demo team is not asked if they want to demo. they are just told to demo.
Hell yes!
I remember watching this, i was 3 years old.
So your 20 yrs old now
I just cried a little bit first time I've watched that
@davidbfitz Because it looks awesome.
@randomname349 uh ever hear of CONTROLLED IMPLOSIONS THEY WHERE NOT TERRORISTS THEY CLEARED THE AREA.

What really make this sad, is the Guy on LSD in the background whistling.
kinda a different feel from the demolition of Cleveland Stadium
I still don't understand people cheering the demolition of a building where they shared so many memories.

@davidbfitz Right on!
@Mitch08320 Haha. Sounds about right to me.
They should've just use a Metal Gear.
i was in the front row watching that. very sad.thats the reds best years getting blown into the history books. were i was though most people were crying.
Dec. 29, 2002
they put it under the how to and style category.
@xxRaiderxx1000 0:21 Dad in the stadium>" OH......."
MikeStanley must never have had winning memories of his teams. Because thats how you send out a Championship Stadium. By Cheering.
@davidbfitz I think they cheer because implosions are so cool to watch! ?
Can anyone tell me of a team that has actually won after a new stadium was built other than Cleveland
Some old buildings are destined to come down some time in its life.
@davidbfitz i agree
Where there people taking pictures on that building or was that just a reflection of the explosion?
How do they make noise? I wanna cry !
@heatseeker213 As I recall they were building a new stadium next to it. I saw it on Discovery I think
Yeup
hahaha :21
HELL YEAH!
@HarvestmanMan that would be GABP
Its not an "implosion" that is a scientific phenomenon.
😢 the end of an era
This is really sad to watch.
@davidbfitz yeah people in cincy always know how to ruin the moment
why did they replace the stadium for the Great American Ballpark? Not that the new stadium isn't great
@davidbfitz maybe they were all the rival team fans...
hi whats up im only doing this to hear audio preview
Riverfront is Cinergy Field... .. name change... thats all
It's too bad the Bengals weren't in the stadium at the time.
Nah they have their own collapses to worry about
@@maspencer6379 this hits differently after what happened to Damar Hamlin
@@allisonkrueger8330yea that comment above you aged like milk at least hamlin survived tho.
@@calebkent6706 ikr, it’s like they predicted Damar Hamlin’s collapse
sullyd where's it at ( T _ T ) the stadium
So sad. I remember seeing this staidum everyday when I was a kid growing up in Cinci. Didnt know they demolished it tll this minute. Big bummer
I have a ton of good memories in that once Beautiful structure & not very many in that ugly new stadium jmo
Whenever I went there it was comfortable it was like home it had different colored seats it was clean it was so easy to get in & out of parking very simple & everything was affordable
now, if they could just get teams that are up to major league standards !!!
Nobody seems to notice that the section on the right is still standing...
That's the GABP
why do people clap and cheer at implosions?
@davidbfitz Because they like seeing it? What are you going to do, cry?
cincinnati city council.
maybe theyr from the opposing team xD
you don't celebrate the 4th of july do you?
This was clearly a terrorist attack, which makes me very suspicious as to why the people there were counting down and cheering. They should have been detained for questioning.
Hello, I believe you're looking for the Idiot House. It's about half a mile down Main Street on the left.
ah good time... i hate red and i am a cincinnatian... when i saw it go down i cheered like hell :D
Don't care about memories, excuse me? The fuckin' Big Red Machine played in that stadium. If they weren't Reds fans, they wouldn't have shown up.
