During his interview Magnus showed a nice variation where he could have blundered the game. At move 27, if he went for the nice looking Ra7 instead of Ra4, there was the amazing Nd2+ royal fork winning on the spot because if Bxd2, just Qxa7 and if Nxd2, Qh1#
The "old" adage holds true: Don't sacrifice a pawn agianst Magnus early-on, because you will come to regret it later... :-). Excellent, calculating play by Magnus!
After Radjabov beat Magnus a couple of years ago I had hopes he was truly on his ascendancy. It doesn't appear to have happened, but he's still a dangerous, entertaining opponent for the world champion!
@@sevenstarofheaven yeah I think the same. There's no way he will play one of prep ideas in this tournament. He himself said in an interview that he is playing here just to get some warmup of playing classical and doesn't care about the results.
So played b4 against Magnus and won the previous game . Magnus pushed b4 against Radjabov and won this game . Tomorrow expect an Radjabov victory video by agadmator with Radjabov pushing the b pawn 😁 .
I like that attack the defender move on the queen that was protecting the knight, seeing it had no more spaces to move to to protect it. Not often will a straight up blunder occur in these high level matches, but rather one of these various off shoot strategies Magnus and Co. will always have in mind as a back up plan once the openings have petered out.
#suggestion Anand Vs Wang Hao, their Armageddon game. Anand once again showing unwavering focus and concentration as he steers clear of Wesley So by 1½ points. Feels unreal but ecstatic to see the Lion back in his game. Love from India!♥️

As you said, the Black Knight defends mate so there's nothing for the Knight to do on g5. Black can play c6, preventing the Rook from being captured, and the Knight on g5 will be kicked out by a pawn at any time, meaning White wasted a move putting the Knight there just to retreat it later.
Hi Agad, probably someone already asked this question but: how do you know what positions were reached in the past? Is there an engine that compares all the known positions of games played?
Indeed there are databases like chessbase where each more or less famous game is archieved. Due to the complexity of the combination of a large number of possible moves, there is created a new game after only a few moves. A reason why chess is so beautiful. :)

I didn't see that pause the video moment - it wasn't intuitive as one would try to save that pawn not offer it. It means I'm not as good as Magnus. I better not play him - LOL
Rajabov is way higher than Magnus's strength but keeps playing inferior lines against Magnus. The truth is always the victim when someone ready to pay good money.
@@maddogtannen6984 I'm not going to discuss the details of him being the strongest player but at least there are 10 players way stronger than Magnus in his best form. Just look at his games against Alexander Morosievic, Daniel Dobov and Danii Naroditsky

Amazing
Carlsen’s time management was incredible.
But he went out of time against Anand.
Maybe he prepared the line very well, so he didnt spent that much time remembering the moves
Radjabov, Jobava, Topalov and Ivanchuk when these guys i am never bored. They are amazing entertainers.
radjabov just went for the draw this game with that line. Not very amusing.
Also Mamedyarov bro

1:55 Carlsen did play Ne5 to surprise Nepo in Game 3 of the World Championship, though! Nepo responded with c6, rather than Nd5.
Magnus played this game so well that this will be one of his good game shows he's always resourceful... :)

Carlen is able to dismiss inferior tactics much like the recent Anand masterclass game.
"It's a passed b-pawn, so what do you expect?" Ha ha... love it!
At 1:53 can’t the knight jump to g5? Threaten mate and the rook? Or am I missing something cause the blacks knight defends mate
As you said, the Black Knight defends mate so there's nothing for the Knight to do on g5. Black can play c6, preventing the Rook from being captured, and the Knight on g5 will be kicked out by a pawn at any time, meaning White wasted a move putting the Knight there just to retreat it later.

Not possible. The Knight is pinned because of the King
@@Kaptain-T did not look at that
What about bishop D6 in final position?
There's a queen on D6 when black resigned, if you mean the position after they a queen trade then you would hang the knight on d7
Of all the recent games that I watched live/on video, the side that gave up a pawn for action always lost.
Beautiful.
Agadmator, that is

Hey, Antonio! I was just wondering what your fascination is with b4, as in, why you always say it's a good move. Just wondering.
Because of Evan’s Gambit
