It yes mandatory in Tennessee to get a DNA when child support is sought. DNA testing should be automatic at birth, period.

If mandatory then free! It wouldn't be fair to make monogamous couples pay. It already costs an arm and a leg to give birth in a hospital in the US.
@@taylo7having a child is an expensive lifelong endeavor, if you are willing to lay with someone and face the monetary responsibility of raising that child you should also fork the bill for a dna test. The government doesn’t owe you a free dna test when you are the one that decided to have it. I think it should only be free in cases of SA.

In the state of Connecticut if you're not married a DNA has to be done
I think it should be done regardless of marital status. This will eliminate any probate issues, etc.

It's so sad that we have to have shows like this. ADULTS do not take personal responsibility for what they do. Children are the real victims in all of this. Adults making rash decisions to have sex which can and will lead to pregnancy. Then when it does happen, the ADULTS do not take responsibility for their actions and the children are the most affected by it. Children are our next generation and the ADULTS are the ones to blame for they way the children turn out.

If you take up a relationship with somebody who already has children you have the responsibility to treat them as family because if you treat them differently you don’t have a family but a simple ‘cohabitation’ and you’re already on the road to failure!
True, but how do they do that when the woman has been left on her own? The bio father is no longer with her, refused to be involved and will not show up to court, the hospital or any court mandated paternity test? I'm not in favour of the father over the mother or the mother over the father, because we all know that not all cases are so clear-cut. It is just a messy business with children suffering for it, falling through the cracks left and right.
A mandatory offer of paternity test. If the guy refuses at the time he chooses to take responsibility.

@@juliemcgugan1244they should take the mother and baby's DNA and put it on file, along with the name/names of potential father/fathers. Same as they do now, notify the men by legal means and order them to court. If they don't show up and don't have a good reason, they go to jail. Then they can get the DNA while they are in jail. No automatic orders of child support just because they don't show up- that's counterproductive and causes more problems. The main objective should be to establish paternity, not to get money.

I'm a situation for 16 years and for some reason I waited, now my baby girl doesn't have any features of me and I know she's not my daughter but her mother knows who's her father and she put me through hell on child support collecting every government cheque and I'm talking thousands of dollars .
Well, after that length of time that's your baby sweetie! At this point it really doesn't even matter. And I'm definitely someone that supports men in these matters...but what can you really do after 16yrs?

This judge annoys me because she rarely has control of her courtroom. Had she kept control and stopped people from blurting things out, the plaintiff would not have felt compelled to tell the woman to shut up!! I don't watch this judge's program very often because her lack of control bugs me.

I admit there are a lot of dead beat fathers. Men are at a disadvantage here, a mother gives birth, so she knows it’s her child but a man has to get a DNA test or trust the woman to be truthful.
