How to code TDI DIESEL INJECTOR using VCDS | DIY SPECIAL |

  • On this upload I will be walking you through the process of coding your new diesel fuel injectors for your Volkswagen or Audi Jetta, Passat, A3 or any other common rail TDI made for the VAG family. You can use this same process on 4 cyl 6 cyl or 8 cly TDI. This Process is pretty easy overall. You will need a VCDS (link below) **WARNING** DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START YOUR CAR AFTER WATCHING THIS AND CODING YOUR INJECTORS YOU STILL NEED TO PRIME YOUR SYSTEM TO PURGE ALL THE AIR OUT OF IT.

    Just in the process of doing the HPFP and entire fuel system change because of metal in the system, next step is the injector coding , I have the xtool vag401 and have been able to do everything you’ve done with vcds so hopefully I can code the injectors as well 😂just have to find what data block they are under ,thanks for the video series on this car it’s been great 👍🏻

      Hi update is I ended up just buying the full version of VCDs and coding the injectors, and then we drove the car for a while then the fuel return line blew off and spewed fuel everywhere and the car wouldn’t re-start 🤦🏼‍♂️so I replaced the high pressure pump again and the car fired Roth up then after full warmup the rubber return fuel line blew off again, so now I’m completely confused 😂
      My next move is to check return flow to the tank 🤷🏼‍♂️

    My vcds screen is a little different. I might have screwed up loading injector 1. When I hit change value so.ething came up about export. I hit do it and old and new value went to all AAAAAAA. Now I can't change anything. I can't send you a pix of my screen

    If you replace just one inspector do you have to program all 6 or just come on that you put in the engine

    Any way to adapt without knowing the number on each individual injector? I installed on my A4 B8 and the manifold is covering the injectors.

      Not that I know of , plus u need to know which cyl each injector is in so you get the programming order right
      Maybe you can get a scope down there and they might be visual

    So I’ve seen the previous videos on the tdi hpfp replacement. You didn’t really elaborate too much if the old injectors lasted or not? Did you run into issues with the original injectors after replacing the hpfp?

      My bad dude. I replaced the injectors due to the amount of metal I found the system as whole. These injector are called "piezo" basically this means there tiny quartz slices in them thousandth of inch thick. Metal in these, even the smallest of amounts will cause, lots of different errors to populate.
      So in this case after I got the car back up and running we had several errors on different cyl. Got on Google and dug into what's what and learn the difference require between modern tdi and old tdi 😂. (There was a time when you could rebuild a injector on your bench pretty easily with a can of brake clean 😂) long story short, we ended up getting some rebuilt Injectors.
      Hope this helps, tdi are definitely up there on the German shit show scale😂💚

    Is coding the Injectors necessary if all I'm doing is replacing the o rings?

      No, it is not necessary as long as you put each injector back from the cyl they came from. However, you will still need to prime the system 3 times to confirm there is no air in the lines before you start it back up for the first time. (DAMAGE COULD COME TO THE CP4 PUMP IF YOU DONT PRIME THE LINES AFTER REMOVAL)

    I did not prime the system after replacing 1 injector. Coded it and started the var now all injector have bad reading -2-3, +2
    Does that means that i destroyed my injectors becomes i didn't prime the system?

      Not necessarily I would check your injector adaptive tables and see what they look like ... how's it well is it running ?

    I replaced my Skoda Yeti 4th fuel injector and while coding, when press the do it button, a dialogue box appears saying:
    This appears to be an uninitialised control module;
    Valid WSC/importer/equipment data may be required.
    Click Yes for vcds to use default values of 12345/123/12345
    Click No for vcds to use values currently in the module ,
    Click cancel to go back and manually edit the
    I tried both the yes and no options nothing works, engine won't start (was working perfectly before it was just a bad 4th injector but was working). I primed fuel as well.
    The car engine is not starting at all now seems like the coding is messed up. Any help would be appreciated.

      When are you getting this error ? During coding of the injector or when communicating when the car (ie setting up your cable for the first time )

      Another option is to read through vcds

      They have a very indepth manual explain this error.
      Usually this error is cause by operator error usually nothing crazy wrong on the cars side of thing. Ie "1" is where an "I" is supposed to be stuff like that. Or when when your in the wrong module. I would read the manual and you should be able to solve your problem.

      @@TheRwdyAudi the new injector was clogged probably because I installed the old and the car started. I bought the injector from 2nd market it must have been kept Dry. Although the old injector was not not working properly but at least not clogged.
